1 Chapter 1: THE SNIPER
Year 2004
Year 2004
A group of people are trying to chase an old man in a muddy, grassy and dark open field far away from the city.. The old man is with his son who's about eight years old ---- crying and afraid of they might chase by the group of people and killed by them.
The son told his Dad to stop from running and just hide from the goons instead but the old man just carry his son for them not to chase by those group of men... They make their way to the forest where they think is a safe place to hide...
After a while, the old man was shot on the leg by one of the goons who are trying to chase them... The old man then stop and ask his son to just stay put...
The son was crying upon seeing his dad not in good shape...
"Dad... Please... Don't leave... Just be with me here... "
"I have a leave you here, son... Please stay where you are and will pick you up later, okay?" - the old man said rubbing and wiping his son's tears...
"Please come back immediately, Dad... " - his son said...
"Okay, son... I will..." - the old man said as he trying to let go from his son's tight hug...
After a few moments, the group of people are approaching them and one of the goons throws a warning shot to stop the old man from running...
"Where do you think you are going, Alfred! Do you think you can run now? Look at you!" - the old Mr. Ildefonso said to the poor old man..
"Please, Mr. Ildefonso! Let me go... I want a normal life. My family wants a normal life... I'm not part of the group anymore... Please let me go, Mr. Ildefonso... " - the old man said
The old Mr. Ildefonso was laughing out loud after the old man said... " Just like that, huh? Do you think it's easy to do that?! ----- You have a lot of stuffs know about the group and I won't let anyone quit just like that, especially you, Alfred..." - Mr. Ildefonso keep staring at the old man...
The old man was wondering what the Old Mr. Ildefonso means... Then he replied: "I promise Mr. Ildefonso, I will keep my mouth shut, just give me this normal life sir... " - the old said as his tears flowing from his eyes...
"Yes... You're right... You need to keep your mouth shut.. " - Mr. Ildefonso said as he grab one of the goons Gun and immediately throws 3 consecutive shots to the old man's head...
The old man's son witnessed how Mr. Ildefonso killed his Dad... The young man was crying few meters away from them but trying to contain himself for him not to chase by the goons and Mr. Ildefonso...
After a few moments, Mr. Ildefonso asked his army to clean the mess...

The Ildefonso Construction Corporation is now celebrating their 28th Anniversarry as one of the leading construction companies in the country... The Ildefonso's conducted a thanksgiving party in a hotel in the city and invited about 200 people in the said event.
The Ildefonso's are on the stage for a speech...
"First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you who came here tonight, to celebrate with us this another milestone, the company's 28th year anniversary... It was an honour to have all of you here tonight... We will forever be grateful to that....Okay, so today, it was 28 years ago since our humble company was founded and like any other construction companies,we came to a lot of challenges, from simple processing of Business Permits, furnishing company's license and other legal documents, up to pursuing your prospect companies to lend you some projects... We've been to all those things and yes it's hard all those hardwork pays off... For years, our company expanded and look what we are now, ---- In this juncture, i would like to thank all the people behind the success of the company, without you, Ildefonso Construction Corporation is nothing... Yes, YOU... Thank you to all of you... "
And the visitors responded the Ildefonso with a big round of applause...
After the speech, someone approaches the Ildefonso's and said: "Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Ildefonso for another milestone in your constrction company.."
"Thank you so much Mr. Alegre!" - said Mr. Ildefonso
"By the way, I'm just curious if who among your children will be the next tiger of the Construction Industry... You know, we are getting older and we need someone to replace us in the future to continue the legacy..." - Mr. Alegre ask Mr. Ildefonso.
And the old Mr. Ildefonso laughed and said, " you know what, out of my four children, only my eldest GIGABYTE is interested in construction... he's sitting on the corner wearing white tuxedo... "

The one Mr. Ildefonso is talking about is his eldest child and his Unico Hijo, GILBERT BRIAN ILDEFONSO, you can call him "GIGABYTE" as his name GB with an acronym Gigabyte... He is a 26-year-old Engineer, hardworking, and can deal and can create a strong relationship with the clients... Since he's the eldest of four children, he always think the pressure... As an eldest child, he always think being a good role model to his younger siblings... He is the Vice President for Operations in their construction company at present

And while Mr. Ildefonso and Mr. Alegre is talking to Gigabyte, another children joins the conversation.
"Dad! Who says only Gigabyte is interested in construction, huh?" - said the second child
And Mrs. Ildefonso replied: "your dad is kidding, my dear daughter... Don't worry... "

Meet the second child, MARY SOPHIA ILDEFONSO, you can call her MISSISSIPPI from "MS" which is the US State's acronym... She is a 21 year-old 3rd year Civil Engineering Student in the University... She is very hardworking like her brother, Gigabyte... A consistent top student in the Faculty of Engineering and participates in a lot of the Inter-University Academic Competitions... As a second child, she want to be as perfect as Gigabyte so she tried her very best to achieve it...

"Oh... Sorry my dear daughter, i almost forgot you..." said Mr. Ildefonso then hugging his daughter... "By the way, here's Mississippi, my daughter... She's currently on her third year now in Engineering " - he added.

After a few moments, Mr. Alegre left then only the parents and Mississippi are on the table.
"Honey, where's your other two siblings... I didn't see them after my speech earlier... " - said Mr. Ildefonso to Mississippi...

Meanwhile, the third child was on her way home to do some research paper which will submit the day after tomorrow...
"uh, ma'am would you like to raise the speed so that we can go home in no time?" - the Driver said.
"No no no no Driver... Just relax... No need to rush, okay?" - said Maryland...

The next children is a 20-year-old 2nd year Mass Communication Student in the University... Out of the four siblings, she's a street-smart kid.. She loves to be with ordinary individuals... Conducts charity events during weekends with her classmates in the University... The third children, MARY DOROTHY ILDEFONSO, or you can call her MARYLAND from her name initials "MD" which is the acronym for the said US State.

And Maryland is calling someone on the other line: "Hi... We'll stay at Grace's place tomorrow, okay?"

Meanwhile, the youngest Ildefonso is talking with her classmate/boyfriend at the garden area of the hotel...
"Babe, how long we'll be like this... I'm excited to finally meet your family..." - said her boyfriend.
"Calm down, babe... I will let you meet my family soon... Just stay put, okay? " - said Megabyte.

Lastly, the youngest is a 17-year-old 12th Grader from the High School Department in the University... A consistent honor student and received recognition from the school every year... She has a 2-year boyfriend named Patrick. As the youngest, the sibling treat her as a baby... Parents are very strict to her... But this young lady wants to be an independent woman... She is MARY BERNADINE ILDEFONSO or you can call her MEGABYTE from her name initials "MB".

"Just stay put, babe ---- okay?" - the young lady said as she hug her boyfriend. "I love you, babe!" - she added.
"I love you too, babe..." - said Patrick kissing his girlfriend's forehead.

The next character is an 18-year-old 12th-Grader from the High School Department in the University... He is also a consistent honor student just like his girlfriend, Megabyte. Actually they are competing each other to be a top student in the Department... He came from a middle-class family. Both parents are Government Employee... Meet JOE PATRICK CALZADA,

And while the two youngsters are talking to each other, Gigabyte approach them and said:
"Hey! Megabyte, what're you two doing in the dark?"
"Gigabyte... What are you doing here? You're supposed to be inside." - said Megabyte to her brother.
"I ask you first, Megabyte..." - said Gigabyte to his sister. "And hey you, Patrick --- you're letting a lady sitting in the dark? Be gentleman bro..." - said Gigabyte to the young man..
The young man rubbed his head and said: "Sorry sir..."
"Again, call me Gigabyte... Not SIR... That's too formal... "
"Yes Gigabyte... Is it okay if I'll take your sister home..?" said Patrick
"Yes Gigabyte, please... I want to spend more time with him... Pretty please..." - said Megabyte hugging her brother.
And Gigabyte replied. "You're taking advantage of me, huh? --- okay... I will let you tonight... But please, Patrick --- make sure to take her at 10PM.. "
"thank you Gigabyte... " - said Patrick
"Thank you my brother... That's why I really love you... " - said Megabyte.

Meanwhile... the party is still on-going and while the visitors are enjoying said affair, a mysterious man is trying to ruin the party... The said man is wearing an ALL-BLACK outfit with a gunset with him... The said man set his gunset at the third floor of the building... His target is Mrs. Ildefonso, the wife of the CEO of Ildefonso Construction Corporation...
After a few minutes, he is ready to kill the old woman...

the crowd are screaming so loud upon hearing a gunshot somewhere... All security personnel are trying to chase the gunman but the said man grabbed his gun set and run immediately...
Meanwhile, Mrs. Ildefonso was rushed to the hospital as she was hit on her shoulder... The whole family went to the hospital to check if Mrs. Ildefonso is okay...
After a few hours, Mrs. Ildefonso was transferred to a regular room after admitting her in the operating room...
Gigabyte, Mississippi and Maryland are in the hospital room with the Doctor.
"Is our mom okay, Doctor? How is she?" - said Mississippi to the Doctor.
"Your mom is stable now... Let's just wait until she awakes, Miss Ildefonso." - the Doctor said.. "Excuse me for a while, sir , ma'am..." - and the Doctor leave the hospital room.
"Gigabyte, who do you think did this to our mom?" - said Maryland to his brother.
"I don't know who did this but one thing is for sure, whoever did this will be in jail... Dad will hire some troops from the Investigation Bureau." - said Gigabyte.
"Are we safe after what happen to mom, huh --- Gigabyte?" - said Mississippi.
"Honestly now, nope so we have to be careful... By the way, did you contact Megabyte?" - Gigabyte said to his sisters.
After a few moments, Megabyte enters the room with Patrick. The young lady immediately approach and hug her mother who's laying on the bed. The young lady was crying while hugging her mother and said: "Mom... Please wake up, please... We want to spend more time with you, mom... Please wake up... "
"Hey, Megabyte! You're overacting! Mom is still alive. She's just laying on the bed... She's okay. " - said Maryland to her younger sister.
"Megabyte, Maryland and Gigabyte, after what happen to mom, we'll be careful with our actions from now on, okay?" - said Mississippi to her siblings.
"Hey! That's supposed to be my line... Anyway, you're right! We should be careful from now on... Don't worry, Dad asked to add security to all of you., especially you --- Megabyte. You're still young.. " - said Gigabyte to his sisters.
"Wait... How many personnel will you assign to me? Three? Five?" - Megabyte asked.
And Gigabyte replied. "Eight people, Magebyte..."
"What Gigabyte?!! Are you serious? Five is okay, BUT eight is torture!! --- I'm okay with five, brother... Please... I'm afraid they won't let Patrick to be with me..." - said Megabyte to her brother
"Okay okay... Will give you five.." - said Gigabyte.
"I'm okay with two, Gigabyte.. I don't need a lot of security personnel because my classmates will freak out" - said Maryland the her brother. Then after a few moments, she noticed Patrick and she said: "Megabyte? --- who's this dork by the way? --- don't tell me he's the one you're telling us before?" - she said pointing on Patrick.
And Patrick approach the Ildefonso siblings and said: "Uh, I'm Patrick, Megabyte's boyfriend... Nice to meet you, Mississippi and Maryland..." - the young man said then smiling on Maryland and Mississippi..
Mississippi reacts: "Wait... You didn't even look Gigabyte --- you mean, he already knows this? "
"Yup! And I'm okay with it. Besides, Megabyte is a good girl. And this guy is also a good guy... " - said Gigabyte as he tap Patrick's shoulder
The young man smiles awkwardly to Mississippi and Maryland.
Then Maryland approached Patrick and said: "Hey young man! I still don't trust you though my brother told us that you are a good guy... Just take care of our 'lil sister... "
"Yes... I will always take care of her and protect her no matter what." - said Patrick
And Mississippi react again, she said: "Protect her, huh? Really? You'll protect her from the goons?"
"Mississippi, stop..!" - said Megabyte to her sister
"Girls... That's enough, okay?" - said Gigabyte to his sisters..

After two days, Megabyte went to her school... She feels awkward walking around the campus with five security personnel with her... Teachers and her students are looking at her and they are wondering why the young lady has security personnel following her...
Megabyte's POV:
OH MY GOSH! I can't bare this... It's awkward... Where's Patrick? I need him now...
And the young lady is about to call her boyfriend when Patrick approach her...
"Babe!" - said Patrick approaching to her girlfriend.
As the young man approaches girlfriend, the five security personnel blocks him.
"Please don't block him... He's my boyfriend..." - said Megabyte to her security personnel.
The young man take a seat right next to his girlfriend...
"How are you?" - said Patrick as he kiss her girlfriend's forehead.
"uh, not so okay.... I'm still not use to this... It's awkward... I can't take it!" - said Megabyte.
"If it's on your safety then just try to live with it... This is also for you. For your safety..." - said Patrick

Meanwhile at the University, Maryland is trying to escape from her two security personnel to be with her classmates.. The young lady run as fast as she can to escape and while she's running, the young lady was bump into a young man who's walking along the University wearing a blue denim jacket and a hat with black pants and black shoes...
The young lady asked for an apology to the young man, "Sorry, sorry sir! Are you hurt? Are you hurt?"
And the young man replied: "I'm okay Miss.. "
After a few moments, the young man look at the young lady and he was mesmerized by Maryland's beauty. The young man staring at the young lady for a few seconds...
AUTHOR' s POV:
the next character of this wattpad story is a 22-year-old working in an Investigation Bureau in the country... His job is to deal with people everyday, lying to every person he meet everyday and uses the information against them... He is a street-smart guy... Meet JOHN MARKK ROMERO, or you can call him JM.
after a few moments, Maryland look at JM and noticed that the young man is staring at her, then she said: "Hey! Hey! Sir? Are you alright?"
And the young man replied: "uh, y-ye-yes?? --- I'm o-o-ok-okay? ---- I was supposed to ask that... Are you okay? " - said JM.
And the young lady smiles and said: "yup! I'm okay... "
"Why are you in a rush by the way? Are you trying to escape or something?" - the young man asked.
"Uh, actually I'm trying to escape from my guards... It sucks! I don't like it... I want to have a normal life..." - said Maryland.
Then the young man look at the young lady's Identification Card.

After a few moments, the two security personnel now found Maryland...
"Ms. Ildefonso, please don't do this... It's our duty to protect you no matter what so please cooperate..." - said the security personnel as he catching his breath after running and chasing the young lady.
And the young lady replied: "Uh, can you please stay away from even just today? --- please?"
The young man presented himself to the security personnel, "Sir... Sorry to interrupt"
The young man presented his ID to the security personnel
The two personnel salutes the young man...
"Mr. Ildefonso assigned me as a personal guard of Ms. Ildefonso from now on..." - said JM
And the security personnel reacts: "But sir, how about us?"
"Then you can go back to our office..." -said JM to the security personnel.. "And don't worry, I already talked with Mr. Ildefonso about this. You're going to report at the office starting now and wait for another assignment, okay? " - he added.
and the two security personnel leave and report to their office.
The young lady asked the young man, she said: "You mean, Dad send you to be my personal guard?"

"Don't worry Ms. Ildefonso... I won't be strict as the two gentleman earlier...You can do whatever you want if I will be on your side." - said JM
And the young lady was happy, she said: "Really?? You mean, you'll allow me to sleepover with my classmates for research works, will allow me to attend outreach programs every weekends and so on?"
"Yes Ms. Mary Dorothy!" - the young man said.
"That was great!" - the young lady said then hug JM...
The young man was stunned the moment Maryland hugged her
After a few moments, the young man said: "Ms. Mary Dorothy, just act normal when you are woth me as if you don't have a personal guard... Just treat me like a friend, okay?"
"Sure! That's so easy!" - the young lady said. "By the way, speaking of friends, call me Maryland... Not my fullname, that's too formal." -she added.

She started a video chat...
"Girls, how are you? --- C'mon, open your cameras and let's talk..!" - said Mississippi
After a few moments... Maryland and Megabyte opened their cameras to talk with their sister...
Megabyte was sulking, she said: "I can't bare this... Imagine five people following you anywhere you go? This was sucks!!! Really sucks! I can't... My friends and Patrick are freaking out now and they're avoiding me because of these men right behind me... Mississippi, please ask Gigabyte to removed the three..."
"Awww... Poor young lady... If I were you, I will escape from them... I will run as fast as I can just to stay away from them" - said Maryland to Megabyte then laughs
"Hey, Maryland... Don't give her an idea... Just keep that for yourself, okay?" - said Mississippi to her sister Maryland
"I was just kidding... Don't ever do what I am doing, huh? Megabyte..?"
-said Maryland.
"Yes Sis! I won't... But thanks to Patrick for always be with me the whole day... " - the young lady said.
"And here we go again... Patrick --- Patrick and Patrick... By the way, why you are acting like that where in the first place you said that FIVE guards is okay instead of eight? --- C'mon girl! Cheer up! This is for our own safety.." - said Mississippi to her younger sister Megabyte while laughing.
"Okay fine! I said it! But please, Mississippi, please talk Gigabyte about this, it's a torture to me!" - Megabyte said.
And after a few moments, Gigabyte opens his camera and talk to the girls...
"Hey hey hey! Did I missed something? Or anything you want to tell me now?" - said Gigabyte talking to the girls
And Maryland immediately responded, she said: "Thanks for the new personal guard, Gigabyte! I love you so much! Now I can do whatever I want with him... Thanks again!"
And Megabyte butts in the conversation, she was annoyed after Maryland told Gigabyte: "WHAT?! A new personal security to her?! That was not unacceptable! How about me, Gigabyte... I can't bare with five... Just make it TWO, please? Please? Please?"
"So far, I'm okay with my two personal security, Gigabyte.. They're good.. They're not as strict as expected." - said Mississippi
Gigabyte reacted: "Wait, girls girls... Calm down... About your case Maryland, actually I was the one to propose that to Dad and he's okay with it. "Hi, Hon. How are you? --- Sorry I wasn't able to join you last time..." - said the lady then kiss the gentleman
Maryland whispered: "Yuck! I hate this girl!"
"It's okay, hon... How's your vacation abroad with your parents?" - Gigabyte asked while rubbing his girlfriend's hair...
And after a few moments, she noticed that Gigabyte is talking with the girls thru video chat, the lady smiles as she greet his boyfriend's siblings...
"Hi girls! How are you? I really miss you so much! --- let's have some time together, my treat..." - the lady said.
"We'd love to be with you, Alyssa!" - Megabyte said.
After a few moments, Maryland asked to turn off chat "Guys, i have to go now 'coz I have lots of things to do... Just see you on dinner tonight, okay?" - then the young lady immediately turns off the chat
Maryland's POV:
I HATE THAT SLUT!!! I still don't know why Gigabyte ask that woman to be his girlfriend! I still don't get it? Why?! Oh My Gosh!

Mississippi replied: "Hmm... Busy young lady as usual... I bet she's preparing for another out-reach this coming weekend..."
"I guess... By the way, I donated 50,000 to support her activity..." - said Gigabyte.
"Whoa! I'm sure she's very happy for that, Gigabyte!.. I'd love to join her also this weekend." - said Megabyte.

After the conversation, Alyssa talked to his boyfriend:
"How's your mom, hon? Is she okay now? --- Can we visit her?" - said Alyssa to her boyfriend.

After a few moments, someone call Mr. Ildefonso... The old man answers the phone call... "Yes, How's the transaction? Is it smooth? --- Tell more about it."

Meanwhile, his men received tons and tons of prohibited drugs from a client abroad... The said drugs will be distributed all around the country...
"Yes, boss... So far so good... Will drop this to the warehouse first before distributing it."
"Okay... I will go there and see it, okay?"
"Yes, Boss..."
"By the way, just thank Mr. Uzunari and send my apology to him for not appearing in the transaction."
"Yes boss, he understands it... He also heard what happen to Madame!"

After the phone call, Mr. Ildefonso is hold his wife's hand again and said: "I have to leave for now, My Love 'coz I have lots of stuff to do..." - then the old man kissed Mrs. Ildefonso's forehead before leaving.

Mississippi, Maryland and Megabyte are now home... They're now having a dinner... Mississippi decided to call her brother to have a dinner with them.
The young lady sset into speaker mode and as Gigabyte answers her call:
"Gigabyte, where are you? --- You're late with our date!" - said Mississippi
"Oh? I'm sorry my dear... I forgot! I'm with your sis Alyssa... We're having a dinner tonight..." - said Gigabyte.
Maryland whispered again, "Not again! She's with that slut!"
"Awww... I see... It's okay... Maybe we should it it next time... By the way, we cook some of your favorites!" - said Mississippi trying to convince her brother to have dinner with them.
"Really?? You cook them?"
"Yes Gigabyte! I made some cookies for dessert ---- and salad also!" - said Megabyte as she proudly tell that she did something for dinner.. "Look what we cook for you, bro!" - the young man grabbed her phone, took a photo of the dishes they prepared and send to Gigabyte thru LINE.
"Whoa... My sisters are so sweet... Okay, we'll just have a dinner there..." - said Gigabyte.
"Whoa... That's nice girls... Why you didn't tell me about this earlier so I can help you in the preparation." - said Alyssa.
Maryland whispered again, she said: "Hello? This is a family bonding! Technically, your not a part of it!"
Mississippi's eyes are widened looking at Maryland and said: "Shhh... Maryland!!!!" - then the young lady talked to Alyssa "It's okay, sis! We can manage... Next time we'll call you but for now all you have to do now is convince Gigabyte to eat dinner here, okay?"
Alyssa laughed and said: "I don't need to do that ---- I guess ---- after Megabyte send a photo, your brother cancelled our reservation at the restaurant"
"Will be there in 30 minutes..." -Gigabyte.
"Okay... See yah!" - said Megabyte.

The young lady was still on shock, then she was pissed after a quarter of glass of her drink was poured on her uniform...

"Whoa... Do this?? To mess with me today?! How dare you!" - the young lady said then call her driver.
"Roberto, where are you? --- kindly give me my extra uniform... Meet me at the restroom of my Faculty. 3rd floor, copy? " - then the young lady immediately go to the restroom of the Faculty of Engineering Building and while she is heading to the restroom, she noticed that the gentleman is following her...
"Hey! What are you trying to do?? Are you pervert?!" - the young lady said.
"I'm here to check if you are okay..."

After a few moments, they reached the restroom. The young lady enters the facility as her driver give her extra uniform.

All information during his introduction in the class are not true, trying not to reveal his true identity for his own security... He's not SLATER JAMES WYOMING, he is actually Mr. AARD RAMSES AMSTERDAM, with a foreign descent. You can call him ARKANSAS, came from his name initials which is an acronym of the said US State. He is Mississippi's personal security.
