8 Chapter 7 How Dare You?!

I laid her down on the bed, and as I turned to walk away I realized she had come to and grabbed my hand. As she held my hand she said, "Thank you Your Highness, for saving me even though you could have left me to die."

To which I replied, "I believe it's a bit unfair, you knowing my name and who I am, when I know next to nothing about you."

"I apologize, my lord I am Ryek. I have no home, no family and no life."

"Everyone has a family, a home, and a life."

"Well, I don't anymore." She said as she looked away.

"What did you do, run away?" I asked sarcastically.

Next thing I know she's crossed the room, slapped me and I had no clue why.

"How dare you assume? My family was murdered ok?! And that asshole you rescued me from, along with his buddies are the ones who done it!" She's standing there with her chest heaving from her rant. As I took in her words I felt like I had betrayed her and I didn't know why I felt this way. So I did the only thing I knew made her feel better, I walked over and took her into my arms. As I held her, I noticed she was trembling. I lifted her face to look at me and there were tears running down her cheeks. I wiped them away, leaning in close to look her in the eyes. I said to her, "I will get revenge for you, I swear it."
