14 Chapter 13: Questions

She looked into my eyes, and said, "Kryscht, I have to be with you."

That one sentence made everything stop. My brain went into overdrive, attempting to comprehend what she had just said to me. How could she want to be with me? Sure I was a prince, but didn't she realize what I was? Didn't she realize how easily I could end her existence? I mean her whole family was wiped out by my kind. Why was she unafraid of me? Why was she so damned determined? I knew the kind of determination she had on display. It was the kind of determination that could topple cities and bring countries to its knees. Why me?

It hit me then, I would test her to see just how determined she truly was. I wanted to see if it was just infatuation due to the fact I had saved her life or did she, dare I actually admit it to myself, love me?

Or did she love the idea of me?

" Are you sure? Because there are only two ways into the palace, my darling human. One way is as my Intended, and the other is as my slave. If you go as my intended, I will shield you as much as I can. If you go as my slave, you will be treated well but you will never be known as anything other than a slave, you will be branded, and will be my personal toy, blood bank, and maid. I will be free to do with you as I see fit, and no one, and I mean NO ONE will want to or be able to do anything about it."
