2 Present Day (part one)

Where did things go wrong? Love is such a fragile thing. Like a glass that shatters, it can never be the same once it's marked.

...

Mei looked at the face of her male lover as he sat just a few feet away from her. Sora's face was turned slightly, looking away in shame and scrunched up in pain.

Hah! Mei thought. She found this situation funny. Don't misunderstand, it was no laughing matter, but the pain it brought was so earth shattering, the only thing she could do was laugh to herself. The air here was too heavy for her to stay. Mei hung her heavy black coat over her shoulders and grabbed the suit case that sat near the front door. Anywhere was fine but here.

"Please, Mei! I can explain this to you." Sora's voice was pleading, even Mei could hear the desperation of his words, and for an instant she almost wanted to believe him, in everything. That everything was going to return to normal. That everything was going to be just fine. But everything is no longer "just fine", everything is broken. Their love, was no longer holding the broken pieces together anymore. She knew this, but her heart didn't. And for this moment she listened to her brain that was telling her to leave. No, more like it was begging her for her own good.

Mei carried her shattered heart along with her suit case. She turned the silver door knob slightly, and the door pooped open. She gave one long look outside. It was a quiet night. No one was out and about. Snow danced around the streets and fell from the dark sky. The only light was coming from the moon and the street lamps.

Mei took one step out, ready to leave this heavy burden that was once her light.

"Mei, please, I'll explain everything to you. Please just listen to me...I love you." Sora's voice piqued a thought inside of Mei. She responded,"....I loved you too....but this is no longer love" And she walked out into the snowy night, and shut the door. Mei had blinked once and felt a water drop fall down her face. She was crying. Mei had thought about many things that she did not want to do, and crying was one of them. First she had lost her mother, now she had lost her most precious one.

Each step Mei took down the snowy and breezy streets, she replayed the many memories she had held so closely to her heart. Her last step down memory lane, before she was going to start her new life. Mei was finally going to leave this suffocating love.
