Kobold?!

As Shawn started to wake up he couldn't help but feel towards his head at the colossal headache he was feeling. But once he got there he paused. He touched his head once again and immediately opened his eyes. Much to his distress as the light had blinded him and made him close his eyes once again. As he slowly adjusted to the light, he heard voices coming from all around him. Soon Shawn opened his eyes and could see dog people all around him. Even though his eyes were mostly okay. He closed his eyes again, counted to 10, and then opened them again.

He seemed calm outwardly, but inside he was freaking out.

'What the fuck. What in the actual fuck is going on? All the dog people are doing were watching me and discussing something with each other.'

Shawn was right the Kobolds which Shawn called dog people were discussing something. He was too distressed to actually realize he could understand them if he tried. There was one important detail that he was missing. One that would surely make for a spectacle for the kobolds watching him.

As Shawn was looking at his surroundings he looked down at his body to at least see something familiar. This was because Shawn saw that he wasn't in his room or anywhere near his house that he could see. No skyscrapers in the distance, no corner stores, nothing. At most he thought he was in a national park with some people with really good costumes. But he didn't find any familiarity he was searching for. He looked at his body in shock for a second. Then he started feeling all over his body until he reached his face.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

That stopped the discussions of the kobolds as they all looked at Shawn and some even took a couple of steps back in caution. Shawn was too busy reeling at his new body and species to bother with them. After he had screamed he got up off the ground and stood up. He was looking around frantically when a screen appeared in front of him.

This scared Shawn almost to the point he passed out. He was no longer on earth and wasn't even a human anymore. This was a terrifying reality to Shawn, but something after reading the message had calmed him down. Shawn didn't know this, but the system did this to all who were transferred so they can accept their reality in the shortest amount of time possible because without it who knows how long a person would accept it in a short amount of time.

But as Shawn read the message repeatedly as he slowly accepted what he had to do. He was shaking a little, but overall okay. He realized he had transmigrated which he did not know much about. He only knew the word because his dad was a huge nerd and loved anything nerdy. As he thought about his dad he became sad, but then that feeling flowed over him again and he felt better.

As he looked around he looked at the different Kobolds and noticed how emaciated some of them looked. There were also a bunch of different coats on all the different kobolds. The looks in their eyes were also varied. Some were afraid, others cautious, and a minority looked hopeful. This Shawn guessed was a good start. He had no clue if it was, he just hoped it was. He was thinking at least most of them didn't look too starved and there were no dead eyes.

He made a realization though, he didn't know if he could speak their language.

"Heh, cough cough, hello can anyone here understand me?" (Shawn)

As he looked around having to turn his body in a circle to look at them as they surrounded him. While looking he could see an older kobold that had a bit of a hump in his back, squinted eyes, and wrinkles. He was wearing the same animal fur clothes as everyone else. If Shawn was honest confused the animal fur for the kobolds fur. But Shawn thought he hid his embarrassment well. Not well enough though for this seasoned elder.

"We all can understand you, young one. This Elder is Givahk and was in charge of these people before you came. If you have any questions you can as this one here." (Givahk)

Shawn was happy to hear that. Communication was really important for anything. So Shawn was too excited to notice the suspicion in Givahk's eyes. To Givahk Shawn just came out of nowhere and was given the position of tribe leader. Anyone would be suspicious of a new young leader that just showed up. Even if the system said that it was a gift. So Givahk was worried for the youngsters he had watched grow up and even raised. He saw himself as disposable since he already lived long enough, but the youngsters had to survive is what he thought. So as he sized up the young leader the suspicion and worry were only known to him. But he wasn't the only one with worries.

Some of the warriors of the small tribe also were skeptical of this leader gifted by the system. When Shawn was witnessing those hopeful gazes from were mostly the preteens and kids. The preteens and younger had not heard of some of the more gruesome histories of this world.
