7 The Dream

It burned. Her head, her cheeks, her ears. Every part of her face was on fire. She heard the soft landing of water on something, she couldn't tell what it was but she presumed it was the floor. Water, at the thought of it, her throat grew dry. How long had it been since she had something to drink? She yearned for it. She tried lifting a hand but something held her back. She yanked again and the wool tore against her skin. Tied? "Where am I?" she asked to no one.

Just then, she heard muttering, she turned towards the voice but she couldn't see. Her eyes were bound. Fear seeped into her and she began violently thrusting, trying to break loose. Footsteps hurriedly left her presence and she realised she had scared the voice away. "Come back, please!" she yelled.

The silence was eerie, she could hear the flapping of bird wings from afar. She could count each drop of water that fell. She thought long and hard. How had she gotten here? Why was she bound? What did they want with her? Had she scared away her only friend in this place or was that her captor? The questions kept running in her mind, engrossing her so much so that she was oblivious to the presence of someone else in the room.

"A benedictionem et maledictionem" a voice said. She jolted, she had no idea what he had just said.

"Who are you? what do you want with me?" she asked.

"A benedictionem et maledictionem" the voice repeated, growing louder this time. She was sure it was one person but the more he spoke, she heard a thousand more voices.

Her insides burned, it seemed like everything was tearing up inside her. Her hairs felt like they were being yanked from her skull. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head. She wanted to beg, her voice caught in her throat. She felt blood pool in her mouth. Why was he doing this to her? Was he an enemy of her father? She felt all the energy leave her body. Was this the end?

He placed both his hands in hers. A new fire burned her hands, starting from her palms to her fingertips. It was hotter than anything she felt before. Just before she passed out, he whispered in her ear. "You don't understand it now, you will."

The accent, she had never heard anything like it before. Before she could pay anymore attention to the accent, her eyes fluttered open.
