2 Chapter 2, Train to Hogwarts

After finding an empty compartment in the express and sitting down on the left, Niles took out a book on charms for first years, surprisingly thanks to the boy's memories, Niles already knew most of the content.

After a few minutes of reading, Niles heard a knocked on the door of the closed compartment and then proceeded to open it.

"Uhm… Excuse me, but can I sit here? The rest are full already?" Said the boy behind the door, Niles looked him up and down while catching the twitch of the boy's left eye. The boy who asked, was a very thin boy, clearly malnourished with savage black hair and wore broken glasses held with tape.

His cloths were way too big for his frame, either he was poor or simply had a broken family. Niles knew basically everything about the boy, since he had similar experiences as a kid himself.

"Yes, of course" Answered Niles to the boy.

"Thanks" Replied the boy.

As they both sat down facing each other Niles thought "Well, if it isn't victim number 2."

After a few moments of an awkward silence Niles spoke up "Hi, my name's Niles Avery, you excited to go to Hogwarts?"

"Ah… My name's Harry… Harry Potter and yes I am excited." Harry answered.

A hidden malicious grin appeared in the back of Niles 's mind as Harry answered his question.

"Really? Like The-Boy-Who-Lived?" questioned Niles with his brows raised, acting innocent.

"Yes… Well I don't know much about all of this since I grew up with muggles." Said Harry.

"Don't worry, I can help you with your studies or questions, I would say I'm quite knowledgeable on magic." Lied Niles , even with the memories of the previous Niles , he still didn't know much about magic other than spells and his family.

"alright, that would be nice…" hesitated Harry, Niles could see the boy did not have much experience with people being kind to him. At that moment, the Hogwarts Express started leaving and they both ended their conversation, while Harry looked out the window, Niles went back to his book.

While reading, Niles's mind wondered about his body's previous memories and recalled all the magic he learned, including some of the basics of the Thu'm. Thankfully, wand moves, and wandless incantations were stuck into him like muscle memory, or he would have a lot of trouble at Hogwarts. At the age of eight, the previous Niles learned most of the spells for first years, at nine the spells for second year, and ten the spells for third years.

"Well, thank God, I'm a genius." Thought Niles.

[A/N: He won't be using it shouts much, just for plot armor sometimes]

-------

An hour later.

Time passed quietly, and when the Express had arrived at the countryside, another knock was heard and this time a ginger haired boy wearing tattered cloths poked his head out.

"Excuse me, do you mind? Everywhere else is full." The boy said.

"No, not at all" Harry and Niles said in unison.

As the ginger haired boy sat across Harry he spoke up once more, "I'm Ron, by the way. Ron Weasley."

"Niles, Niles Avery" Replied Niles .

"Like part of the Avery family? Wicked!" exclaimed Ron.

"Well even if most wizards aren't idiots this one is." Thought Niles.

While Harry gave a weird glance at Niles, he turned his attention to Ron and said "I'm Harry. Harry Potter."

Ron was agape for a moment, "So-so it's- true? I mean, do you really have… the" said Ron with a small voice.

"The what?" asked Harry confused.

"Scar…?" whispered Ron.

"Oh" replied Harry as he lifts his hair bangs, revealing the lightning shape scar.

"Wicked. I can't believe it, I'm standing in the presence of Harry Potter !" Replied Ron. Harry turned to Niles after his exchange with Ron and asked, "The Avery family?"

"Well, my house, like the Potter house is an ancient wizarding House, but we started in France and unlike most Wizarding houses, we have a lot of control over the muggle world. From politics to lands" Said Niles with a hint pride in his voice.

"Wicked, my father also said someone from the Avery family was supposed to come to Hogwarts, I didn't expect to meet you!" Exclaimed Ron with admiration.

The trio continued talking for a few hours until a trolley comes to the compartment, filled with sweets.

"Anything off the trolley, dears?" Said an old woman pushing the trolley.

"No, thanks, I'm all set." Replied Ron holding up mushed sandwiches.

"We'll take the lot!" Replied Harry and Niles in unison, pulling out coins from both of their pockets.

----------

A few hours later.

While the trio were eating bundles of sweets, Niles was deep in thoughts and reading various books while he could faintly hear the conversations between Harry and Ron.

"Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans?" Asked Harry.

"They mean every flavour! There's chocolate and peppermint, and there's also spinach, liver and tripe. George sweared he got a bogey-flavoured one once!" Exclaimed Ron with a hint of pride.

Harry quickly took the bean he was chewing out of his mouth and threw it out the window, he then proceeded to pick up a blue and gold package.

"These aren't real chocolate frogs, are they?" asked Harry once more.

"It's just a spell. Besides, it's the cards you want. Each pack's got a famous witch or wizard. I got about 500 meself!" Replied Ron with a mouth full of sweets.

After the famous frog jumped out of the window, Harry picked up the card.

"I got Dumbledore!" Exclaimed Harry.

"I got about 6 of him." Replied Ron.

"Hey, he's gone now!" shouted Harry, surprised at the vanished Dumbledore.

"Well, you can't expect him to hang around all day, can you? This is Scabbers, by the way, pathetic, isn't he?" Said Ron, glancing at the quiet Niles .

"A little" Harry and Niles replied again in unison.

"How do you always reply at the same time?" Asked a confused Ron.

"I think. That's why." Said Niles still playing attention to his book.

Turning back his attention to Harry, Ron asked "Hey, Fred gave me a spell as to turn him yellow. Want to see?"

"Yeah!" Replied an excited Harry.

"Ahem. Sun-"

Ron was interrupted by a girl abruptly opening the cabin door, the girl was the same Niles had seen on the platform in other words victim number one, she had bushy brown hair and wore robes.

"Has anyone seen a toad? A boy named Neville's lost one." Said the girl.

"No" replied Ron.

"Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see then." Said the intruder.

Ron shrugs and shouts "Sunshine, daises, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow!"

Nothing happened, expect for a small spark from his wand.

"Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good, is it? Of course I've only tried a few simple spells myself, and they've all worked for me. For example..." Said the girl as she goes over and sits across from Harry, she didn't realize that Niles was also sitting next to her.

"Oculus Reparo" Said the girl.

The tape on the nose-band vanished and Harry's glasses became brand new. Quickly Harry took them off, amazed by the magic.

"that's better, isn't it?... Holy Cricket, you're Harry Potter." Said the girl, surprised.

"Yes, I am and the one reading a book, next to you is Niles Avery." Said Harry

"Well, she won't be an idiot, but she's still to weird, I guess she'll have to wait till the fourth year to suck me off." Niles thought.

"Nice to meant you, and you are?" asked Niles, acting innocent with a cheerful smile.

While acting like an idiot in front of Hermione, Niles thought of something "Sh*t, I forgot about legilimency, I already know the basics of Occlumency but that won't be enough to keep Dumbeldore from peeking into my brain."

I'm Hermione Granger, and you are...?" Said Hermione, turning her attention to Ron.

"I'm...Ron Weasley." Replied Ron with a mouth full of sweets.

"Pleasure." Responded Hermione to Niles and Harry.

"You three better change into your robes. I expect we'll be arriving soon." Said Hermione as she left the cabin.

------------

Hours later.

It was night time at Hogsmeade station, the train blown its whistle and stops outside the station. A giant man walked along the side aisle, with a lantern. The students, in their robes, began pouring out of the train.

"Right, then! First years! This way, please! Come on, now, don't be shy! Come on now, hurry up!" Said the Giant, Niles knew he was Hagrid the second he saw him, since he was 11ft tall with bushy long hair and a massive beard. He also wore a long brown coat.

"Hey, Hagrid" Shouted Harry.

"Whoaa!" Shouted Ron as he saw Hagrid.

Behind the duo, Niles stood out, he was taller than most 11 year olds and even with his hands in his pockets, he gave off a distinct aura of raw magical power leaking out as if he had too much within himself.

Niles could not help but let out a smirk, as he saw every student looking at him with awe, including a weird look from Hagrid. Niles looked like a lion, with his golden hair and golden eyes piercing through anyone's soul.

"Right then. This way to the boats! Come on, now, follow me." Shouted Hagrid.

-----

When they reached the lake, a large number of boats were plugging across the vast lake, where up ahead a huge castle, known as the Hogwarts Castle, could be seen. The students were in awe. The castle was huge and radiated pure magical vibes.

"Wicked" Said Ron.

As the first years made their way onto the boat, everyone expect Ron and Harry had left a one meter gap between themselves and Niles .

"Well, look likes everyone's scared of you." Said Ron to Niles, glancing around.

"Yeah, this is going to be fun." Replied Niles with a devilish smile.

"To be honest, you scare me as well." Continued Ron.

Niles let out a teasing smirk towards Ron and continued following Hagrid to the boats. Niles was happy, he was able to relive his life, but in the Harry Potter Universe, so you can bet, he will do everything he wants.

The first years went onto the boats, Niles was tempted into pushing the students off their boats but there was a giant squid at the bottom of the lake, probably, so Niles decided against the idea. After they crossed the lake they had finally arrived at the entrance of the Castle.

[A/N: I'm going for movie scenes for the first year, I want to get over the "Learning magic" part as fast as possible]

------

The first-year students started walking into the castle after the end of their admiration of the entrance, and made their up the staircase. The students saw on a higher level, a stern-faced Witch waiting. She taps her fingers on a stone railing, and then goes to the top of the stairs to greet the newcomers. The witch was wearing a dark green robe and a pointed hat matching her robes.

Niles quickly assumed this to be Professor McGonagall, as she looked like an identical Maggie Smith. The Professor spoke up with a Scottish accent.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup."
