ONE

[Four years later]

I dodged an oncoming fist and dealt an uppercut to my opponent, knocking him out on the floor. Wiping the blood off my lip, I glared at men left who shivered and ran off, not forgetting to take their fallen buddy with them.

It started raining and I couldn't help but sigh. It's been for years since I became the errand boy for the White Tiger yakuza group and I must say, I definitely got lucky choosing them. I was treated well, they gave me food and shelter, they taught me to fight and gave me a form of education though I already knew everything they taught.

Uncle, the leader of the group, treated me as his own son which I was grateful for and allowed me my freedom because they trusted I wouldn't betray them. Which was true since I had no reason to betray the people who helped me. And now, he wanted to send me to high-school which I had no qualms about.

It'd be interesting to experience it all over again and forging documents to get me in was an easy task.

Uncle made a good amount of money from the casino, I suspected he was as rich as those top companies in the city. Plus, he had good connections everywhere so my identity wouldn't be a problem when applying to a school.

I was on my way today to purchase some supplies which I insisted on buying myself, otherwise he would have sent one of the lower members to buy them for me, when I encountered these goons -- supposedly from a rival gang.

I was caught off-guard staring at a very delicious looking cake across the street, my weakness, and one of the guys managed to get m"y face. That was all. After I took care of him, the rest just ran off.

And now it was raining. Heavily might I add.

I scowled at my unfortunate luck today and took a taxi to the main house. Though their operations were in the centre of the city, the main house was further out. It was a massive place and held the traditional Japanese architecture.

I entered the gates and immediately, one of the men came to me with an umbrella.

"Young master, you're sopping wet. Didn't you take an umbrella?"

"Okay first of all, please drop the young master thing and second of all, no. I did not because the forecast for weather was sunny," I said.

"I see Young master. By the way, Boss is waiting for you in his office. He wishes to discuss your schooling,"

"I understand. Please inform him I will meet him once I take a shower,"

"Hai,"

The man left and I entered my room and tossed my plastic bag on the mat before taking off my shirt revealing my very defined six-pack plus a couple of scars. Checking myself out in the mirror, it was hard to believe I was once a stick seeing as I know was filled out with great body proportions.

My height also grew a lot to my surprise, reaching 194 cm. As for my appearance, well I don't really care what I looked like but from what I was told, my looks were definitely above average. With regards to society standards of course.

I hopped in the shower and sighed in content as the hot water hit my cold body. I scrubbed myself and rinsed before getting out and drying before changing into a dark blue yukata and heading to Uncle's office.

*Knock*

"...Come in,"

I entered the office and sat in front of Uncle who was going through some papers. He looked up and smiled when he saw me; a stark contrast to his usual glaring face.

"Ah, Taku-kun, you look so handsome again today," he said sweetly. His eyes sparkled as he looked at me and before I would've freaked out but now, I'm used to seeing 'this' side of him.

"I hope you're well Uncle. I heard you wanted to discuss something with me," I said, dodging his doting hug.

"Why'd you dodge?! *Sniff* My boy no longer needs me now and doesn't care for me," He fake cried.

My face twitched as I resisted to face-palm. This, everyone, is one of the most ruthless gangsters in Japan.

"Uncle..."

"Oh alright." he said going back to his seat. "I have picked a school for you. It is relatively new but the facilities are good and the reputation isn't too bad."

He handed me a file and I opened it and froze.

~Seirin High

Could it be 'that' Seirin?

"Is everything okay? Do you not like the school?" asked Uncle seeing as I went silent. I shook my head and smiled.

"Nope. This is perfect."

His face brightened up, "Wonderful. Now about the -- "

"I refuse to be escorted there. I will go to school like any normal teen my age," I firmly stated. He pouted and let go of the matter knowing I wouldn't change my mind.

"Is that all Uncle?"

"Nope. How about we play a round of shogi? We haven't played that for a while," he grinned bringing out the board.

"I don't mind but don't you have a meeting to attend in like five minutes?"

"Eh?" he glanced at his watch. "EHH?"

I could only sigh and wonder how this guy was the head of the White Tiger yakuza.

-----------------

[The next week]

I entered the gates of Seirin with a hidden smile. The sign, the building, the uniform, everything was the same as that anime I watched in my former life. Kuroko no basket. Who would've guessed I'd wake up in an anime world.

I joined the crowd of students and looked at all the different clubs. Should I join one? I kind of want to have a relaxing school life so maybe joining a club isn't a good idea.

Besides, now that I know I'm in the Kuroko no Basket world, I could watch the plot progress. I'm sure it'll be interesting to watch. I scanned the crowd and managed to find three canon characters.

Mitobe, Izuki and Koganei. They look exactly the same as in the anime.

Izuki, the eagle eye who was bad at puns. I heard him say something in response to Koganei and burst out laughing at how corny it was.

The laughter attracted the group to turned to me and gaped at my height.

"Sup. That was some corny pun dude." I said with a grin. "You guys from the basketball club?"

"Huh? Oh yeah we are. You wanna join?" asked Koganei handing me a flyer.

I took the flyer and read through it when suddenly, a hand landed on Koganei's shoulder making him look up and pale.

"Is this the basketball club?"

Oh, now who do we have here?

"H-Hai," Koaganei stuttered.

I looked at the newcomer with an interested gaze. This was the second protagonist of the hit anime series; Kagami Taiga.

"Ora ora, you're scaring the boy." I said to the red-head. His gaze turned to me and his lips morphed into a sneer. Wah so scary.

"Ha?!"

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see students backing away from us as if they're expecting a fight to break out.

"Calm down tiger. I was just saying you're scaring the guy. Look, he's about to pass out,"

He looked at Koganei in his grip and coughed before letting him go.

"Oh, oops,"

Mitobe took Koganei to recover and Izuki followed after them so it was just Kagami and I. I walked closer to him and stuck out my hand.

"Nice to meet you, name's Yoshida Takumi but I prefer being called my first name," I said.

"Kagami Taiga. You play basketball?" he shook my hand.

"Kind of. I thought I should join the basketball club to test my skills," The last part was a lie. I know my skills well since I played a lot of street ball and I crushed my opponents. I was just joining for the fun of it.

"I believe the basketball club table is that side." I pointed to the location. Kagami started heading there without me. Ouch.

My eyes caught a lob of light blue hair and my gaze landed on 'him'. The main protagonist of the story, the phantom sixth man and the shadow. Kuroko Tetsuya.
