Chapter 1

–There are two kinds of people in this world; Those with loaded guns and those who dig–

"Any last words?" Groaned an older looking man, whose hands were tied behind his back.

He raised his gaze from the dried up blood on his toes, resulting from having his toenails jabbed out. And rested his mean glare at the two younger looking men, in matching all black pinstriped suits.

"Don't get ahead of yourself" Replied the blonde haired one, as he picked up a type 54 pistol from a silver tray.

He firmly wrapped his bloody fists around it and pointed it directly at the hostage.

"I hope you have friends in hell" He went on to say, flattening his bruised lower lip into a devious smile.

*Spit*

The hostage fearlessly spat out blood from his loosely hung jaw, at his kidnapper's feet, then locked his brown eyes at the ceiling.

It was a large warehouse with Windows at each side, and a very high ceiling. It seemed abandoned at first glance, but it was painfully obvious from the bullet holes in the walls. That small time gangsters and kidnappers did some of their dirty work here.

"Bastard!" The vexed younger man cried out, taking a disgusted step back.

He immediately pulled the trigger and shot at his hostage's left shoulder, a bit off the mark.

"Ugh" The bullet hurt like hell, causing him to clench both his eyes to soothe the pain.

He could feel his muscles stretch out and tighten at the same time. The strands of grey hair on his head, was a reminder that he wasn't as young as he used to be.

"Finish him, our client is getting restless" said the taller looking man, who had probably cut off his hair due to a huge injury.

"Tch" Cursed the one with the gun, "the bastard isn't worth the money on his head" he stated, aiming at a kill point.

As he was set to make the kill, a loud shooting noise followed by the deafening sound of shattered glass caused both men to crouch down behind the empty cargo boxes.

About twenty men rushed into the building, brandishing their loaded rifles at the kidnappers.

"Shit!" Cursed the bald one, as he tried to use his phone to call for backup.

Unfortunately for him, a bullet went straight through his hand, causing him to drop it.

His companion, who tried to shoot as many enemies as he could, didn't last a minute and tasted at the very least, twelve bullets.

The shootout was over in a matter of moments, with the hostage successfully rescued, and taken outside. Where, three black cars laid in wait for his use.

Some men glided him past the dead bodies of the lookouts, who were taken out first. On the right side of their necks, was the letter V, freshly branded with a piping hot branding stick.

"This is Vitto's doing, is it not?" Asked the hostage, whose formerly white shirt was tainted with his crimson red blood.

The man sitting beside him in the car, handed him a cigar and helped him to light it.

"It is."

The old man let out a thick cloud of smoke and smiled recklessly at the cigar perfectly balanced between his fingers.

"That damned bastard" He remarked, chuckling in-between his words, purely amazed by the vanguard of the Moretti Hospital.

*Two days after*

Hospital X.

A new batch of eager residents flocked about the Halls of the hospital, holding a green folder in their hands. The company identification cards were worn proudly around their necks, while they went about the duties delegated to them.

One resident, however, stood out from the rest. A woman, who couldn't be over twenty five, holding a cup of coffee in one hand whilst her other hand was suspended in mid air.

"He's only human, he won't eat you." She chanted, staring animatedly at the cup of coffee, she gripped a bit too firmly.

Loose strands of her blonde hair fell upon her sea green eyes, and her plump pink lips. She let out a prolonged sigh and pushed the elevator button, then reluctantly stepped inside it.

While she waited to reach the top floor, the string of conversation some nurses on night duty, replayed in her head.

*Some hours before*

Inside the changing room, three nurses whose shift was about to commence, found themselves chatting away what little free time they had left.

"The CEO of the hospital looks like someone pulled out of a magazine. I never thought I'd see someone that good-looking in real life." Said a middle aged nurse, toying with her buttons.

"He's somewhat mysterious and has this unapproachable vibe around him." Another said, making hand gestures to explain herself.

"I agree, there is little to no information about his personal life. There's some gossip going around that he has slept with half of the female residents at least once." The talk went on, with these women failing to notice a frightened blonde resident, who was about to walk in.

The name tag on her uniform read Lucia, and the look on her face spelt, horror.

*Present*

Lucia tried to calm her fast beating heart, but couldn't shake off the thought of meeting the aloof CEO, whom even the board of directors couldn't control.

"Curse you for being so smart Lucia!" She said to herself, as the doors to the elevator pulled apart, revealing the top floor of the hospital.

Lucia heaved a heavy sigh, and walked towards the main office, of the mysterious CEO, who had for some reason wanted to meet with her.

A thousand wild thoughts ran through her head, as she walked briskly towards the door which had the letters, CEO, written in bold.

She stretched out her dainty fingers and knocked twice, hoping he had maybe stepped out.

"Come in." A deep baritone voice replied from the inside, shattering all of her hopes.

She relaxed her tensed shoulders and let herself into the room, keeping her strict gaze on the marble flooring.

"You called to see me Sir" Lucia voiced out, afraid she squeaked while speaking.

"You're Lucia De Luca, am I right?" His sexy voice asked, sweeping the woman off of her feet.

"I'd appreciate it, if you would look up at me, and don't stand so far away." He told her in a casual tone, dissolving the tension in the room.

Lucia nodded, and did as she was told, careful not to piss off the head of hospital on her first month of working here.

"I was going through the list of all the residents here." He went on to say, killing the awkward silence.

"And your profile was stunning, so I just had to meet you myself." The CEO praised, his burning stare focused on her.

Lucia summoned up her courage, and placed the complimentary coffee she had bought him on his desk and made a motion to step back.

However, the moment the cup landed on the desk, the CEO's large hand held her wrist firmly, almost swallowing it.

Her stunned eyes noticed a scar on his right wrist, one that he must have gotten some years back.

Lucia raised her gaze, to say something, anything to draw the line between the both of them. But found her jaw hanging, the second her green eyes met his sexy blue eyes, she felt herself melt into him.

"You're finally looking at me." He remarked, "with those stunning eyes." A devilish grin spread across his well chiseled face, as he slowly let go of her hand.

"Ahem..." She coughed, almost choking on her own saliva. Her chest tightened, and her ears reddened in embarrassment.

He kept on staring at her, something she didn't seem to like, but at the same time, didn't mind it.

"I'd like to see more of your work here, and keep an eye on you."he told her, keeping her profile inside his desk.

"I ha...have to get some important lab results." Lucia stuttered as she backed away, trying her hardest not to let him know how imposing his aura was.

She was so scared of being sucked in by the CEO's charm, that she ended up bumping into the security guard, who just let himself into the room.

Luckily, she was able to maintain her balance, and did not fall flat on her face.

"Pfft." The CEO used his hand to conceal the face that he was laughing.

Lucia narrowed her gaze at him, and sped walked out of the office, almost tripping over herself as she mindlessly retreated, her heart about to leap out of her chest.

The CEO didn't let his gaze leave her till she was out of sight. He picked up the cup of coffee and half smiled at it, bringing it to his lips to take a sip.

"Sir!" Cried the security guard, who stood at the half opened door, stepping out from the shadows.

"A helicopter just landed on the building's rooftop!" He announced, setting an entirely different mood in the room.
