8 Chapter 8 : A dying village

The story continues with Kipo's suspicion of Sarah.

Kipo was not afraid to ask and get all this problem out of the way, but she wanted to wait, to perhaps see some actions later on.

Kipo and Sarah started walking north hoping to find someone to ask about any possible directions.

At first, Kipo was questioning this plan since they both realize that mutants hate humans, but Sarah had a plan to cover themselves from anyone, by covering themselves with capes and masks she picked up before they left the burrow.

After they wore the capes and the masks covering all of their bodies and faces, they continued walking north, ending up finding a small village, it was not exactly full of mutants, but it had enough people in it for them to ask.

The small village was not crowded, but the weird thing about it, that it did not have except one kind of mutants, there were only hamsters, they were not really much of a danger, every one of them was minding their own business, no one talking to another, no one smiling or showing any kind of emotions.

Kipo felt curious to know why is this place like this, why it's so depressing, while Sarah on the other hand did not seem to care for anything except the directions.

Kipo had an idea to ask about the reason, but she did not know who to ask, so she separated herself from Sarah to look for someone to ask, Sarah was not agreeing with this idea but she did not have any better way to do this.

After a while of searching, Kipo managed to find one person to ask for help, so she immediately went to look for Sarah, she found her walking with some different kinds of supplies.

Kipo: Sarah! I have good ne.....wait....how did you get all this stuff?

Sarah: so apparently they trade here..... so I traded.....you said you have something?

Kipo: oh yeah...I have good news..... I found our guy.....he is the sheriff of the village... I think.

Sarah: well...I guess we can go and ask him..... where is he?

Kipo: he is at the gate.....he is wearing a big rounded hat.

Sarah: ok....we will look for him tomorrow....the night is about to come..... we need to come back to our home for now.

After a good time of sleep, Sarah and Kipo woke up and ate their breakfast then they wore their covering capes and headed to the small village, it was very early in the morning so when they reached there, they did not find anyone.

After a short while of walking to the village, they started looking for the sheriff, after an hour of looking for him, they found no one.

Sarah: are you sure of the description you told me yesterday...Kipo?

Kipo: yes, I'm pretty sure he was there exactly yesterday....at the gate.

Sarah: hey...did you notice how the population got suddenly even less than yesterday?

Kipo: no....not rea...

As she looked around her, finding no one in sight

Kipo: oh...

Sarah: there must be a reason for all of this...

Kipo: maybe they are just all sleeping ?.....it's pretty early you know...

Sarah acted up immediately, she climbed on one of the buildings looking for the villagers, only to see a group of hamsters standing in what seems to be a graveyard.

Sarah: I see them.... they are in a graveyard.....this has to be the reason.

After they arrived at the graveyard they started looking for the sheriff, but they still haven't found him.

Kipo was sick of this, she had to do something, she approached one of the villagers and asked.

Kipo: excuse me sir....can you tell me whose funeral is this?

The villager: it is for our friend...Joe...he is not really here anymore but he will always be in our heart.

Kipo: I'm sorry for your loss.....but can you explain what you mean by "really here"?

The villager: you are not from here are you?

Kipo: we...uh...we are from a different place....we had to run because snakes attacked our home and left nothing behind.

The villager: well...you are not different from here....it is the same thing here....we try to survive the night from the snakes but we always end up losing some people every night.

Kipo in her mind: this explains why everyone is depressed here...

Kipo: and let me guess.....joe is the sheriff here....or was...

The villager could not answer this question because it was painful to him, but Kipo realized that the answer was yes.

Kipo then left to meet with Sarah again

Kipo: Sarah!.... I know what happened here!

Kipo then explained everything to Sarah, Sarah was not shocked, but she was mad for the injustice for this village.

Sarah: ok...Kipo I'm going to leave this one for you.....do you want to help the rats?... I mean the hamsters.....whatever...

Kipo: of course....but how?

Sarah: well...we can go to the snakes and hear their side of the story and maybe we can solve it from there.

Kipo: sounds like a dangerous plan...let us go then!

After their agreement on helping the hamsters, they went to ask for directions from the villager Kipo talked to earlier.

After they got the directions they went back to their home to take some rest so they can leave this place to be on their way to talk to the snakes.
