11 Chapter 11 : A confession (part 2)

The story continues with Kipo waking up after she was injured from falling off of a big tree.

She woke up and looked around her, she was confused.

Kipo (mind): woah...how did I get here...the last thing I remember was falling so far then...that's about as much as I can remember...where is Sarah?

When She got up from her bed she felt tired and had a painful headache.

Kipo: ow !...my head.

She was able to walk far enough to see her reflection on a small water spot, when she arrived she looked at her head from every angle she could, she did not find anything, no blood spots, no bruises, she was confused why her head hurt her so much.

When she came back home she found Sarah sitting on her bed looking like she waited patiently for her to come back.

Sarah: hey Kipo...feeling better ?

Kipo did not reply.

Sarah stopped talking for a couple of awkward seconds and looked down.

Sarah: do you want to know what happened yesterday?

She still did not reply, but she looked at Sarah hinting at her to start speaking.

Sarah: yesterday we climbed a big tree and then you were exhausted so you sat on a ranch...you fell off and hit your head hard and the snakes heard that...so I had to carry you all the way to here.

Kipo: is that all what happened?

Sarah: yes...we should not be alive right now...both of us...we were lucky enough to be able to run away.

She looked away from Sarah and headed for the exit.

Kipo: I'm going for a walk...alone.

Sarah did not say anything and let her go, but that was not all what she had in mind, she wanted to follow her silently without her knowing.

After a short while of Kipo walking on her own, Sarah was on top of the buildings surrounding her and Kipo, following her as quietly as possible.

Kipo then heard a sound of footsteps and looked around her, but of course, she found no one, she kept hearing sounds repeatedly, she then looked around her one more time, she was able to see a glimpse of Sarah and immediately knew who it was.

Kipo: I know you're here Sarah...I can hear you...come out...now.

Sarah then jumped down to land right in front of her.

Kipo: what part of alone did you not understand ?

Sarah: can you just listen to what I'm about to tell you...please ?

Kipo: you don't have much time before I leave again...so start talking.

Sarah: ok...so I know why you're mad at me...which is why I need you to meet someone...

From the shadows inside one of the buildings, Zet came out and showed himself.

Zet: hey Kipo.

Kipo did not reply and looked back at Sarah to continue.

Sarah: so...Kipo Zet...Zet Kipo...I believe you haven't had the chance to meet each other properly.

Kipo: jeez...I wonder why...

Sarah: let me finish...so Kipo...Zet is an old friend of mine...

Zet: a mistake I made...

Sarah: is everyone going to interrupt me here ?...let me finish...Zet is an old friend who used to live with me here on the surface for years...I'm not a burrow girl...and my family died a long time ago...my mom is not a hostage for the invasion.

Kipo was not surprised by any of these statements, or at least she did not show it.

Zet: huh...a smart girl.

Kipo: is that all ?

She sighed loudly looking into her eyes.

Sarah: *sigh* yes...that's all

Kipo left them and continued walking.

Kipo: don't follow me.

After Kipo left, Sarah and Zet were left confused.

Zet: wow...she's way more stubborn than she looks.

Sarah: you like her don't you ?

Zet: seriously ?...someone I literally just met ?...is this how stupid you think I am ?

Sarah: yeah yeah sure...whatever...now back to where we were...what the hell am I supposed to do to make her not mad at me?

Zet: I got an idea...it will probably work.

Sarah: I'm listening.

Zet: it's simple...just listen to her and stop following her...give her sometime...you can't just make people accept you like this.

Sarah: and what if she's in actual danger?

Zet: she DID leave a soft spot in that brick inside you huh ?

Sarah: get to the point Zet.

Zet: ok ok...we'll look for her...but not now...right now go do anything else that does not include Kipo.

Sarah: *sigh* fine.....I'll try...

After she agreed to listen to Zet, she went in the opposite direction with Zet and started chatting with him.

Kipo was looking down at the ground, confused and surprised.

Kipo (mind) : wow...she even lied more than I thought...but she told me the truth...wait how do I know she's not lying again ?...I don't know...but I know how to know...I need to talk to Zet alone.

She was about to head back and look for Zet, but suddenly, her head started to pain her again, it was very painful, she could not take it, she collapsed on the ground and lost her consciousness, leaving her on the ground in the middle of nowhere, but this time it is more dangerous, Sarah was nowhere near her, any mutant can know that there is a human girl laying on the ground just by lifting the cape off of her.

Sarah: so...what have you been up to all this time?

Zet: nothing much...just surviving most of the time...you?

Sarah: I tried to make a new life in a burrow but it got invaded last week...usual things to encounter to be honest.

Zet: invaded huh ?...is this why you're helping her ?

Sarah: well...yes but also no...I'm doing this because we're at war with these things...and yes because I won't leave a 13-year-old girl living alone in her destroyed home while her one-person family is being held captive.

Zet: you're the only two who survived the invasion ?

Sarah: yeah I think so.

Zet: but how did they find you in the first place?

Sarah: I have no idea...and l won't bother to think about it...figuring it out will change nothing.

Zet: I guess you're right...so what exactly is your plan?

Sarah: we've both been on the surface long enough to know that we're not the only 2 humans that live on it...we can use this to our advantage.

Zet: you do realize that they pretty much have superpowers compared to us right?

She folded her arms and raised an eyebrow looking at him.

Sarah: says the human with actual superpowers.

Zet: well yes that's true...but you only have one out of eight like me...and we have no idea who are those other seven humans with enough superpower to beat a whole army of oversized animals.

Sarah: fair enough...but how about we try to find them ?

Zet: and how ?...they literally could be anywhere around the entire planet.

Sarah: it will take me some time to think of an idea for this...but we have to try.

Zet: we can go check on Kipo now if you want.

Sarah: let's go.
