Chapter 1: Emergence

Rory woke up to the usual baby crying in his apartment building. Down the hall he could hear the couple arguing over the possibility of both cheating. He shook his head and took a deep breath. The stench of blood filled his nose from the open window of his apartment. He wasn't surprised.

Since the emergence of power users, murder and crimes involving assault had gone up tenfold. Rory thought back to when he lived with his parents and little sister. They lived in what used to be known as Costa Rica. Being one of the very few Japanese living there he stood out. Then that day which became known as the new

D-Day occurred.

He instantly became angered thinking about HIS arrival. His family was at the beach enjoying a nice relaxing day off. The sky started to darken which was strange. There were no projected storms for that week. Then it appeared as if an eclipse was happening. Everyone stopped and stared as the sky fully darkened. Suddenly lightening formed and people panicked. Fear enveloped everyone and it seemed doomsday was occurring right before their very eyes. Terrance, Rory's dad, who was US military, tried to round up his family and get them to shelter but Rory was too consumed by what he was seeing. A portal opening and a male figure slowly descending from it. Rory stood in awe, fear and shock at the spectacle. Was this a God? An Alien? No one knew.

He wore a regal purple robe with Gold embroidered into the front giving armor. Two curved black horns protruded from his head and two feathers were above his eyes. The robe had purple jewels embedded throughout it. His ears were pointed like an elf's but he looked human and had long flowing black hair. He spotted Rory and slowly descended to his position.

"Rory get out of there!!!!" Terrance tried to reach his son but the pressure was too great. As the mom and sister stayed behind crying.

The man looked down at Rory with slight confusion as well as curiosity. "You….what species are you?"

Rory was frightened, "We are all human beings."

The man seemed deep in thought. "Very well human…lets test your constitution." Suddenly a golden dart appeared out of nowhere and shot toward Rory as his father screamed. It went into his body causing Rory to faint instantly. His body started to violently convulse and shake.

Displeased at the sight, the man frowned and let out a sigh. "I guess you are yet another useless species. I should destroy this place for wasting my time." He turned to leave when Rory's body started to stop as he his eyes fluttered open. The man was floating away but stopped and turned with a peaked interest. "Oh? You didn't die. I guess you human's constitutions are worthwhile after all. Splendid!!" He slowly rose back into the air and opened his arms.

"RISE!!!"

Suddenly millions upon millions of darts similar to what hit Rory began to shoot out. Some reaching all over the world.

"THIS IS UNN ACTION NEWS COMING TO YOU LIVE FROM PLAYA BLANCA BEACH. I'M NEWS ANCHOR JANE SALVADOR. WHAT YOU'RE CURRENTLY WITNESSING IS NOTHING LIKE WE HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE. MILLIONS OF NEEDLE LIKE LIGHTS ARE SHOOTING ALL OVER FROM THE STRANGE CREATURE THAT HAS DESCENDED. WE HAVE YET TO KNOW WHAT EFFECT THESE WILL HAVE BUT WE WILL KEEP FILMING AND KEEP YOU UPDATED."

When the darts finally stopped, the man looked weary as if it took a lot out of him to perform the task. He looked around as if he was waiting when some started to shake the same as Rory. Then it happened. Some people hit by the lights started to float, some engulfed themselves in flames as they soon realized what had taken place. They had been gifted with abilities by the strange creature. The creature smiled and then spotted the film crew and flew over. He stopped and gently landed. Jane stood strong as she knew this moment was crucial to the events that were taking place. He looked her over and smiled. "Yet another interesting human" as he quickly glanced at Rory who was now in his dads arms. He looked at the camera and spoke calmly.

"I am the Specter God known as Yoro. I have traversed realms in search of a worthy opponent. Your species and environment have been chosen. What has transpired here does not come at no cost. You will provide me with a suitable opponent by time I return. If none has risen to meet me….I will kill your world and everything living within it. That is my declaration. Do not disappoint." He slowly floated back into the air and returned to the portal he came from. The sky cleared up and like that, the world changed.
