Treason

Elise's jaw tightened. She said that word so easily, as if it was breathing oxygen. She didn't even hesitate or stutter. Lumielle propelled the idea of treason as if it was second nature to her and she looked to see Aristele bristle at the concept of treason. Despite them being royalty, betraying Endora and the crown could be punishable with death. 

Didn't he want to sit into these conversations? Didn't he wish to know what Lumielle had done? The truth was cold and unrelenting. She would not shield him anymore if that was what he wanted. 

"Treason," Elise expelled, running her fingers through her hair, her gaze turning hard. "You were the one that—" 

"And you were the one that took my suggestions, didn't you?" Lumielle questioned, "And that's why your husband Rurik has gotten record profits, am I wrong?" She tilted her head to the side.
