1 Chapter 2: Waking up and Introductions

Alexander woke up to find himself lying on a wooden bed with thin mattress. A woman of average height and looks came in, soon after his awakening. She said, " Your Majesty, you finally woke up."

Alexander was confused about the situation he found himself in, but after few seconds remembered his rebirth and wishes. He asked the woman, "Who are you? Where am I?"

The woman replied,"My name is Glenn and I am a servant tasked with taking care of his Majesty till he wakes up by Miss Anna. Your majesty, you are in the best room available to us in current circumstances. Please wait for sometime, I will bring you breakfast. I hope you forgive this lowly servant for any inconvinienes caused by her to you, your Majesty." Saying this she left the room hurriedly.

Alexander did not stop Glenn from leaving as she appeared to be very afraid in front of him and was afraid she would die from fright if he stopped her. Alexander saw the wooden room he was in and thought, " Why am I in such a room? Shouldn't a king must have better accomodations than this? And who is this Miss Anna? I will ask Glenn when she returns."

Alexander looked around the room and found a section of room separated by a sheet of cloth containing a bucket of water, a small container of salt and a hole in middle of the separation. Alexander was perplexed but then thought, "This is a bathroom from middle ages. What is the condition of my kingdom if the room I am living in is in such dire conditions?" Alexander set aside this matter for later consideration and first decided to complete his morning routine.

As he left the bathroom, Glenn knocked on his door and asked for his permission to come inside, Alexander opened the door and permitted her to come inside. Glenn was carrying a tray containing a steaming bowl of some kind of soup containing some vegetables and meat pieces. Being famished, Alexander did not question Glenn about the type of food and quickly finished it. Alexander then asked Glenn, " Tell me Glenn, who is this Miss Anna you spoke of? Where I am staying and what is the condition of my kingdom?"

Glenn, with a face full of admiration and happiness, replied, "Your Majesty, Miss Anna is a very bright and kind young lady who guided us when you were asleep. All the people of the kingdom greatly respect and admire her. Your Majesty, you are staying in your house, which is the biggest in the whole kingdom as it should be. All the people are very happy and your kingdom is in good condition." Alexander doubted that the kingdom was in good condition but did not say so as he did not know the circumstances surrounding his kingdom. He said, "Glenn, I want to meet Miss Anna."

Glenn replied, " Miss Anna is waiting for his Majesty in the hall for an audience. Please come your majesty, I will show you the way." Glenn led Alexander out of his room, through a narrow pathway, opening in a large hall. The hall was made of wood with thick tree trunks acting as pillars and at one end of the hall was a big chair like thing which was probably his throne and on the other side were a set of huge doors standing at a height of 10 foot leading outside. The doors were shut for the time being so he was not able to see outside. Alexander noted the lack of windows and considered the whole hall as a huge death trap in case of fire.

Alexander then noticed two people standing in front of his throne and berated himself for his obvious lack of attention towards people surrounding him as it was a sure way to die in a battlefield or by an assassin. He decided to do something about it when given the chance. The two people a man and a woman turned and bowed to him when Glenn announced his presence. The woman said, " Your Majesty, I am happy to see you awake. I am Anna and this is Commander James."

Alexander observed the now introduced Anna and James. Anna was a tall and fair woman with generous body proportions having an air of refineness, not found in common ladies. Alexander guessed that Miss Anna had an uncommon background. While, James was a tall and robust man with a scar on his left side of face from cheek to forehead. Alexander first impression of James was that he was an serious man with no nonsense attitude. Alexander observed that James was unusually silent and thought that he was afraid of offending him because of his serious attitude.

Alexander said, " Commander James, you can speak freely. I will not be offended by your words." James did not replied but bowed and smiled a smile full of grief and anguish. Alexander was confused by his behaviour. Seeing his confusion, Anna said in a sad voice, " Your majesty, Commander James cannot speak." Alexander was deeply sorry for reminding James of his inability and apologized, " I am sorry Commander James. I did not know but you do not need to be afraid that I will look down on you instead I greatly respect you." Commander James cried tears of gratitude but then suddenly, balled his fists in anger and hate. Alexander asked Anna, " What happened to him Anna?"

Anna said in tearful voice, "I don't know what happened to him but I only know that he was not born mute." Alexander was shocked by the implications of this statement and then became angry," Commander James, someone did this to you. Do not worry, whoever they are, we will find them and take justice on your behalf or you can take it with your own hands. Don't lose hope because in this vast multiverse, I do not believe that there is no way to heal you. Just be patient."

Alexander turned his attention to Anna, " Miss Anna, Glenn told me you looked after all of us when I was asleep. For this, I am very grateful and promise to grant you a wish that is not against the interests of the kingdom. Now, tell me about yourself and the condition of the kingdom and my subjects."

Anna replied, " Your Majesty, please call me Anna only. I am a daughter of a noble household and was casted out because I refused to marry someone as I was the only daughter of the old head, my relatives did not harm me thinking that I would return after expriencing the commoner's life. As for the name of my household and my origins, I only remember this much only."

Alexander asked, "Why?"

Anna, "The god made it so. This is for everybody. We only remember our names and our general background so that we don't have any conflicting loyalties and could serve your majesty in full capacity. But we will remember our full background when the kingdom advances to a sufficient level, your majesty."

Alexander, " What is the condition of my kingdom, Anna? "

Anna, " We are living on a big piece of land, your majesty. We have dense forests in the East and a wide river in the west. There is also a big mountain range to the north, we have not fully explored the land due to fear of wild animals and unseen dangers. We have a total population of 100,000 people with equal amount of men and women. All of them are youthful fellows and are very eager to serve.

We have some experienced farmers, blacksmiths, carpenters, weavers and soldiers who have helped in establishing a working society in these wild lands. Majority of people are living in big halls like this one. The main source of food is hunted animals and fishes. We have also found some iron ore veins which are being used to construct our tools and weapons. We have a big platform in front of which we had found ourselves standing with you lying in front of it unconcious. There is also a golden gate at the far end of the land but we did not dare to go there. The subjects are eager for your awakening and are looking forward towards it."

Alexander, "Are you all not afraid that I could be a bad king?"

Anna, " No, your majesty. The god explained that you are a good person and will take care of us."

Alexander was sure that the cosmic entity that reincarnated him here also brought these people here to help him. Alexander moved towards the door of the hall in order to go outside and gestured James and Anna to follow him. The doors were surprisingly light as compared to their appearance. He asked Anna about it and was told that it was a special kind of wood, they had discovered in the forests which was strong but light and all the living quarters were made of this wood.

Alexander thought that all of this cannot be made in just one day and asked Anna, " For how much time, was I asleep?"

Anna replied, " Your Majesty, you were asleep for 2 months."

Alexander was shocked but did not pay much attention to it as it was quite normal for him to sleep for long period of time due to his illness. Instead he was happy that his people had achieved so much in his absence which shows their capability. He was eager to see their fruits of labour himself and also wanted to investigate the platform and the gate. With this thought, he opened the main exit door and stepped outside.
