4 The Awakening

When I came to again I was laying in a bed

looked to my right to see a weird machine with all kinds of flashing lights. To my left my brother was asleep in a chair. I looked in front of me to see a white curtin blocking the door and two silhouettes standing by the door. Just as I was about to get up. They started to talk.

"According to Prince Axel he was a humanoid Kitsuné." One voice said. "What" the other exclaimed. "But I thought they were killed off millennia ago back in the great war."

"So did I." 

"Well I guess that explains why he hasn't came into power yet"

"Yeah I hear they don't come into power until thirteen years of age."

"Yeah, but if this was true wouldn't Prince Axel be humanoid too?"

"I don't know, but for now let's keep this between the council until we can confirm Prince Axel's statement, not that I don't believe him."

"ma'am I will keep watch for now you should go get some rest you look tired." 

"You're probably right thanks Kumino". As she walked off Kumino turned to face the curtin, waited a few seconds and then walked into the room.

"I thought I sensed you wake up Prince kit." He said smiling.

"Huh, he's awake?" My brother mumbled still half asleep. He raised his head and looked at me with tired eyes. The moment it registered he jumped up and ran over to my bedside.

"Good to see you awake" he said "you took quite the beating it seems." Axel said

As he said that I remembered the fight and how he saved me from the demons attack and died. Then somehow came back to lend me his power. 

"How?" I asked.

"How?" He repeated sounding confused.

"How are you still alive" I asked quietly. "I - I saw you die" I saw the life fade from your eyes" I said as I began to cry. 

"I don't know. I remember falling into the abyss of death then next thing

I know you were fighting the demon and winning." He replied. "You finally learned how to transform."

"Yes Prince Kit, congratulations on that". The other man said. I looked at him with a blank stare. "Oh how rude of me I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Kumino I was the one who cared for your wounds." He said. I looked to Axel confused. 

"Yeah he was taking care of you from the start, we couldn't trust anyone else with the job your true powers must remain a secret for now." Axel said. "That and he's the third in command in the counsel of nine." 

"There's that name again." I said 

"Wait you have heard of the council of nine? The man asked. 

"Yeah once when me and Axel were rough housing in the kitchen the morning of our coronation. Our father was having an argument with another man about my birthright. I heard our father mention it before. What is it." 

"We can't talk here there are too many people around." Axel said. "But what I can tell you is it's a secret organization sworn to protect the royal family. He paused for a second, and the leader is someone you know." He said with a sheepish smile. With that he stepped out and began to treat my wounds.

After a few minutes of Dr. Kumino reraping my bandages and rubbing some medicine on the wounds Axel came back in with some breakfast. 

"You hungry?" he asked. I looked to Dr. Kumino. 

"Go ahead and eat Prince Kit" he smiled as he stepped back. After you get some food in you I need to talk to you and Prince Axel.
