Trial of Sense(2)

[Initiating Trial of Sense...]

The world around me rapidly changed, as I found myself Standing on a small hill, made of grass.

When I looked down, I saw nothing but a blue sky, both above me and below me.

[First Trial: Sight]

'Sight?'

I questioned.

It seems this trial will test my Eyesight, which, as a flying creature, is pretty decent.

I even have a skill for improved vision! This should be a breeze.

*Whoosh*

I turned around to see if there was anything behind me, yet that turned out to be an extremely lucky move as an arrow passed by right where my head was.

'So I'll need to see it coming from far away...'

I grinned as I spotted the next arrow coming towards me, and easily dodged it by stepping to the left.

'This Will be a breeze!'

Far away, In a ruined city, a small girl came out from under the sink.

Her eyes were red, as if she cried for hours, her hair covered in dust and dirt.

*Rumble*

"I'm hungry.."

She said in a low tone, as she suddenly remembered the terrible dangers that awaited her outside.

Slowly tiptoeing to the living room, she walked towards a closet that contained vegetables, bread, and other necessities.

Carefully putting the food on a small table, making sure to not make any noise, she began slowly chewing on the food.

"I can't eat everything now."

She told herself.

She planned to eat only the minimum amount and pack the rest for her journey towards another city.

Taking a potato back from a small drawer in the kitchen, she put all of her food inside of it.

Walking over to the living room once again, she looked through the windows- watching the empty streets with occasional golems passing through them.

"So, Every 6 minutes..."

She thoroughly calculated how often golems come to that street and used a map to find to escape route from the city quickly.

While looking out of the window, she waited until the golem turned the corner- and quickly rushed outside.

She Didn't try to escape from the city yet, no.

She went right to the neighboring house to scavenge for food and water.

Packing the food from the neighboring house too, she repeated the process multiple times.

in one of the houses, she stumbled across a necklace that had a slight aura.

"An Artifact!"

She whispered in joy- an artifact is an Item enchanted to protect and help its wearer in many different ways, this one, in particular, seemed to be an agility artifact that increased its wearer's speed on foot.

Eventually, she reached the last house.

Looking over at her bag, she couldn't help but notice how heavy it was.

"its either this or starving to death!"

She attempted to encourage herself, as she watched the last golem take the turn.

Quickly Rushing out of the last house, she headed towards a hole in the city's tall fence- coincidentally, the hole was the shape of a turtle! what could have caused this?

quickly crouching and going through it, she was on her way.

"Where is it..?"

She looked at her map, specifically, a road which was supposed to head east- to the capital of the human kingdom.

As the child of a noble, and a young woman, she wasn't taught how to read maps- she was taught the basics of magic, which she had a great affinity for!

Looking around, she spotted a slight pavement in the dirt.

"There it is!"

She exclaimed and quickly continued on her merry way, even humming some famous poems while walking! Anybody who sees her will think she's just a cheerful beggar girl, not a person who just watched her siblings get murdered brutally!

***

*Whoosh*

[Trial of Sight completed!]

'Finally! This took so long!'

I exclaimed tiredly, the trial of sight was hours long! At least now I'll be given some time to rest..

[Initiating Trial of Hearing!]

'Goddamnit!'

I exclaimed, this was likely to be one of the harder trials- as my sense of hearing wasn't particularly powerful, however, I had hope as the system said the difficulty is adjusted according to the User's level!

The World turned dark once again, This time, I found myself in an underground labyrinth!

'Really? Putting an aerial creature underground? Could this get any better?!'

I was devastated, but determined.

Completing these trials will grant me an amazing reward!

I laid down and tried to listen, surely, There's some kind of sound that's supposed to guide me!

*Ding...*

"There it is!"

I located the sound and began crawling towards its source, around different obstacles and walls.

*Ding...*

Slowly but Surely, I was approaching the Source of the Sound!

A Young girl was walking down a path cheerfully, when a fancy carriage came from behind her.

"Hey there, youngling!"

The Voice of an elderly woman emerged from the carriage.

"Would you like a ride, youngling?"

The Woman asked without showing her face.

The young girl was Suspicious at first, but did she really have a choice? She didn't even know where she was going! at least by getting in she'd be with someone who has a destination!

The young Girl climbed into the carriage and sat down in front of an elderly woman.

Scanning the Woman's features, She was surprised at how pretty she was! Despite her wrinkles, the Old woman had a charm that couldn't be denied!

However, the most important feature was that the woman had sharp, long ears.

That's right, the old woman was an Elf!

"Well Hey there little girl."

The Elven woman chuckled at the girl's shocked expression.

"I couldn't help but sense you had a great affinity for wind magic!"

The Elven woman exclaimed, looking straight into the young girl's Eyes.

"Y-yeah.. my parents had me examined and I have a High-Noble Grade wind affinity!

The girl nervously told the Elven woman, causing her to smile warmly.

"I see you are heading from the direction where the Earth's wrath has last emerged, I assume your home has been destroyed?"

The Old Woman asked insensitively, not minding what the young girl may remember.

"Yes.."

The Girl answered with a sad expression.

While the people from her city weren't exactly the nicest, they were all she ever knew! With all of it destroyed, what did she have?

"I see, what is your name, youngling?"

The old woman asked curiously while adjusting her bag and taking out a water container and handing it to the girl.

"Acquilina... Ma'am."

Acquilina cautiously, not looking to disrespect the kind old woman.

"Acquilina, dear, I happen to own a School that teaches young, bright students like you magic in a faraway land."

"Would you like to join the school? I can assure you that you'll be treated well."

The old woman suggested, causing the young girl to fall into deep thought... what did she have to lose? The young girl thought; she didn't have a home, family, or anybody looking for her.

She might as well go wherever she is accepted!

Thinking about her family, she was saddened by the memories.

'Mom.. Dad..'

Then She decided.

"Yes... Ma'am!"

The young girl answered with determination.

She needed to get stronger, and magic is the only way.

She Will have her revenge, no matter how long it'll take!

Wish Acquilina Goodluck as we won't get her POV Much from now on, but don't worry, She will be included in the story!

As Always, if you have any ideas as to what you want to see further on in the story, don't hesitate to tell me!
