11 Suspicion

Tang Yan found it unacceptable the way he was forcefully pulled into the virtual space, but he became excited when he heard Celia's words.

He had been hoping for this when he had participated in the 50-meter event, although the process was somewhat boring for him, he had finally won his first major event and gained 1 honor point.

He looked back at the system interface and found that not a lot had changed.

Most of the names were still greyed out, only the three characters from the beginning were lit up.

The only difference this time was that when he selected Li Guang's name, there was the word 'upgrade' above his avatar head.

Selecting the word, an option menu appeared.

Unlock 60% of Li Guang's abilities:

[Yes] / [No]

Not hesitating, Tang Yan chose to upgrade Li Guang's abilities.

A feeling of numbness came over him, and before he could even ask a question to Celia, he found himself back in the real world.

"Really, so rude!" said Tang Yan silently expressing contempt in his heart at the systems forced transmission.

Focusing back on his surroundings, he found the audience still cheering.

Cheering for him.

They were celebrating the birth of a new champion.

"Congratulations to Tang Yan for winning the 50m individual event, also congratulations to the runner-up....."

After receiving his winners medal, he left the competition venue with other players and entered the rest area.

After sitting in the rest area for a while, he began to feel everything sink in.

He had just won the first championship of his career. Although it was only provincial, this was something he would never of dared to dream of in his previous life.

Just as he was wallowing in victory, the door of the rest area was pushed open.

Looking up, he saw a few familiar figures.

Li Lao, accompanied by Shao Ping, Xiao Yan and other city head coaches came in.

After the end of the 50-meter event was the 70-meter final, as such, most of the archers in the rest area were archers from the 50m event.

When these people saw Li Lao enter, a burst of light filled their eyes.

They stared at him with gazes full of hope; some daring ones even began to move to say hello only to quickly receive glares from their coaches.

They could only watch on as Li Lao strolled past...

Looking along Li Lao's path of advancement, they realised he was walking towards Tang Yan.

So he was here for him...

Seeing this, the archers who had stood up felt loss and embarrassment.

"Kid, do you remember me?" asked Li Lao walking up to Tang Yan with a smile.

"Of course." said Tang Yan respectfully as he stood up.

"Coach Shao often mentions you."

"He does? Haha, what does he say about me?" Li Lao smiled and looked over at Shao Ping.

"He spoken about how great a coach you are, and how I should strive to be taught by you one day..." said Tang Yan with a smile.

"Cough...." Shao Ping was stunned.

"Haha..." Li Lao laughed heartily, although he didn't say anything, everyone could tell he was pleased to hear this flattering.

Tang Yan smiled, but there was doubts in his head. Surely they hadn't come all the way over here just for this. Especially not with such a big group of people following him.

"Tang Yan, I heard that you haven't been studying archery for long. But you've made so much progress in such a short time. Can you tell us who taught you?" asked Li Lao laughing.

When Li Lao said this, the other coaches, including Shao Ping, looked at him with doubtful eyes, especially Xiao Yan, who looked at him with eyes full of distrust.

Hearing this, Tang Yan realized what was going on. These people were suspicious of him.

In fact, it was normal to be suspicious. After all, archery was a sport that relied heavily on talent and training. It was unheard of for people to be able to shoot so well after just half a year of training.

"I don't have a coach. I'm self-taught," said Tang Yan truthfully.

"Self-taught?" Not waiting for Li Lao to respond, Xiao Yan asked with a distrustful tone.

Tang Yan nodded. His eyes focused on Li Lao, ignoring Xiao Yan, he explained to Li Lao: "I picked up archery mostly in hopes of getting a sports scholarship for university next year. Before the Lotus City trials, I had only been training for three months, that trial was my first ever competition."

Li Lao's eyes flashed a stunned look.

"Can.. you show me your recurve bow?" said Li Lao, after recovering from his shock.

Tang Yan didn't hesitate and handed over the recurve bow.

Li Lao took the bow and observed it for a while, pulling the bowstring, he moved as if he was going to shoot the bow. After confirming that there was no problem, he didn't immediately return it to Tang Yan, but handed it over to Xiao Yan with a displeased look.

Xiao Yan took the bow and checked it over, meticulously scrutinizing it bit by bit.

Finding nothing, he wrinkled his brows.

Tang Yan couldn't help but smile.

It seemed the head coach of Yuhang City suspected him of cheating.
