1 The Void.

A/N: This is the rewrite.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Loneliness. Nothingness. That's all that the now-dead Ryuga Kazami felt in his life and the void he was currently in. In his former life, he was a militaristic young general of the Japanese army who grew up as an orphan so this feeling of loneliness was not foreign to him. He was fluent in many martial arts, including Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Karate, Shaolin Kung Fu, Jujutsu, and even Boxing. Other arts such as Kendo and Tai Chi, he took for fun/relaxation as in a realistic military situation, such skills would be very situational or very useless.

The reason he was in his current situation was because of his untimely death in a massive explosion of an oil rig they were supposed to be taking over for the Japanese army. He regretted his death but he couldn't say he felt bad about it as dying for your country is an honor. He just wished that someday, maybe he would get to rule his own country. As old-fashioned as that wish may seem, he knew that in the worlds of the anime and manga that he read during his childhood days, which had sparked this interest in the first place, his dream was possible.

So he imagined himself there to pass the time as he didn't know why he was in this space. He imagined how he would fight various shinobi in Naruto, conquer multiple planets in DB and gain many beauties in places like Danmachi, but when he thought of the #1 fan-fiction he read on a certain website where the girls turned the main character into a massive stay at home 'husband', he immediately rejected this notion. Such weakness was below him.

As he was being immersed in his imagination, an ancient voice suddenly rang out to him, abruptly waking him up from his stupor. "Hello, young one." Ryuga looked up and saw a massive white light hovering over him. He already deduced that this was the place the voice was coming from. He would be lying if he said he didn't feel nervous in front of it though. Taking a deep breath, he calmly replied, "Hello. You must be God, right?"

The voice replied in a pleasant but not surprised manner, "Indeed. I'll get straight down to business as I still have a lot of souls to take care of. You have been chosen to reincarnate in a world of your choice as you've raised enough karma to earn it. You'll also have to choose the body you reincarnate in and you'll have three wishes. You may proceed."

"Huh? Say what?", Ryuga was extremely surprised and happy as he wasn't expecting to gain such an opportunity in his death. But he guessed this had to be some kind of trick. There was no way someone like him could've gained enough good karma to get such a chance. In a questioning tone, he said, "I doubt I actually raised enough Karma to get this chance. I've committed enough war crimes to-"

God cut him off and said sternly, "Young boy, no need to worry about the specifics. Choose quickly before I have a change of heart." Ryuga still wanted to continue but he eventually decided against it as he didn't want to miss this chance. After a few minutes of thought, he came up with the perfect answers.

Straightening up, he said respectfully, "Alright, I want to be reborn into the current body of Koga so you can fuse my soul with his. For my first wish, I wish for Devil Sword Yamato to be fused with my Zanpakuto. For my second and third wishes, I want the God-Killer Sword and the Myoujingiri Muramasa to be fused with it too. Is everything doable?"

God thought for a few seconds before he agreed but he clarified that fusing so many blades with the original Muramasa might cause some problems, one of which would be might be a different personality. [A/N: No, I'm not going to use this chance to morph him into some loli tsundere girl. Stop it, get some help.]

Finally, since their souls were fused, Ryuga's spiritual power in his new body will be drastically increased. He was excited as he knew that Koga just by himself had an absurd amount of Spiritual Power. Both of them combined would be quite something to behold. Before Ryuga could even thank him, God said in his earlier pleasant tone, "And that's it. You will be reincarnated immediately. Have fun, young one." With a click of his fingers, Ryuga disappeared from the space.

[An unspecified amount of time later in Karakura town.]

Under a certain pond in Karakura Town, a golden coffin with several chains wrapped around it and numerous halberds across it laid there, unmoving. This was the Shisō Keppū seal, a high-level technique that the commander-in-chief of the soul society laid down himself.

The one who was sealed here was none other than Koga Kuchiki, the man who Soul Society tried to erase from its history.

Inside the coffin, he lay there unconscious as the golden chains firmly held his corpse-like body captive. A mouth mask adorned his face and shackles on his hands kept him from making the slightest twitch.

At first, Kōga was a well-toned man with piercing green eyes, shoulder-length black hair, and a long ponytail of red hair, with bangs hanging on the right side of his face to frame it.

But after years of being in the seal, his body had grown withered and malnourished. His power was a far cry from what it had been in the past and as time went on, he only got weaker.

At this moment though, several odd lights suddenly appeared in the seal and entered Koga's body, causing him to twitch uncontrollably.

"Get...out...of...my...body..."

Koga barely managed to mutter these words before a firm layer of white light encapsulated his entire being, causing the twitching to slowly stop. A few moments later, Koga opened his eyes and a calm expression appeared in them.

"Finally, I'm here."

The soul fusion was completely successful. The old Koga was completely absorbed by Ryuga and the latter took over his identity with no mishaps.

In all honesty, he was surprised by how easily the operation succeeded. Although he inherited the past Koga's memories, skills, and even his hatred for the Soul Society, he still felt like...himself. Like he had never changed at all. It was surreal.

But he didn't have time to think about that though.

First, he had to break out of this seal and find somewhere to recuperate.

Immediately, Koga closed his eyes and tried to sense the existence of the only thing that could break him out of his current predicament. It was also one of the reasons why he chose those strange Zanpakuto-centric wishes.

He wanted to enhance Muramasa as much as possible as that would be his main weapon and something he could depend on to break the seal.

Unfortunately, since the old Koga had caused the link between him and Muramasa to deteriorate greatly due to his abusive actions, contacting the Zanpakuto was almost impossible.

Combining that with the heavily restrictive power of the seal made it even more so.

But, that was the old Muramasa. Since Koga's soul had now changed on a fundamental level, Muramasa's soul followed suit.

And now that he had new abilities firmly implanted into him, it was like a complete rebirth had taken place.

The link between the two had been completely re-established, but the seal still caused some problems.

Several hours later, Koga suddenly sensed the presence he was looking for appear above him. It was Muramasa.

He had finally found him.

But he still couldn't speak to him.

Above the pond, Muramasa stood in the air looking down at the pond with wide, unbelieving eyes.

'Due to what happened to me earlier, I thought that I was dying, but to think that Master managed to establish a link with me! It has been so many years...so many centuries...but Master was still alive...'

Tears flowed out of Muramasa's eyes as the full moon of the night sky adorned his noble clothing. Since he was manifested completely, his almost monstrous form was there for all eyes to see.

Muramasa was a tall, thin man with pale skin and shaggy, dark brown hair, two bangs of which crossed over the bridge of his nose. His turquoise-colored eyes were circled by spiked purple ovals. He possessed long fingernails, but they were much shorter before his long separation from his master.

Muramasa wore a long, white, blue, and gold, robe-like coat. The collar of the robe was covered with thick fur and featured a purple scarf fastened by a ruby brooch. He also wore a wide sash at his waist, decorated by a purple stripe. He wore boots with pointed tips and had purple manacles on his wrists.

All in all, Muramasa's appearance was certainly eye-catching, to say the least.

Fearing that Koga would be in dire straits, Muramasa quickly rushed into the pond to find...nothing there. He could feel that Koga was near, but he could not see him nor the seal.

He was almost stricken by panic before he calmed down and thought about the situation.

'Those Shinigami of course wouldn't leave the seal in plain sight, I was naive to think so. There must be some special incantation or something to make it appear and break it. But, why do I feel like Master brought me here for a reason? Especially with these new...gifts that he gave to me. I might be the key.'
