3 Delving Into Danger.(1)

"Even though I hate the shinigami, I can't deny that I am one of them at the end of the day. So that thought was pointless. I have more pressing issues to think about."

Koga tightened the grip on his sword and slowly walked towards the front of the cave as his eyebrows furrowed together.

"I came here with no plan and not much of a goal."

As he neared the front of the cave, he slowly started to draw Muramasa from its sheath.

"To enact revenge on those who tried to destroy me."

A small smirk appeared on his face as he continued, "Heh, a bit of a childish goal for someone of my age. Sigh. My mind isn't clear enough for me to make any grand decisions right now. What I need to focus on is getting better with my blade and regaining my spiritual power. Then I'll decide on what to do next."

Koga stood at the edge of the entrance of the cave and stared off into the distance at the countless amount of hollows in front of him.

They littered the Forest of Menos like grains of sand in a desert.

But Koga wasn't focused on the regular small hollows though, no, he was focused on the giant beings that consumed them rapidly.

They were huge monster Hollows at least 2-6 stories tall, easily dwarfing even the largest standard Hollow. They all had white masks with elongated noses. Their bodies were covered from their head to their feet with a black covering reminiscent of a cloak. Around their neck were a row of thin white spikes and they had large, pointed feet wrapped in white bandages.

These were the gillain's, the lowest but most numerous class of Menos.

Koga was going to mostly target these hollows for training as they would provide enough challenge without much risk. He had to get used to this new body and regain his spiritual power.

Lastly, he had to practice with a zanpakuto. While he may have had the original Koga's memories and motor skills, personal experience was still needed.

Koga completely drew Muramasa and his purple spiritual power instantly flared up, causing his reiatsu to instantly press down upon the surrounding hollows like a falling mountain. The weaker ones immediately disintegrated into nothingness while the Gillian's turned their attention towards him.

Some of them even started charging up Ceros.

Eldritch energy in the form of lightning constantly crackled around his body and blade.

The spiritual power around his blade carried a heavy tinge of dark blue instead of the usual purple. Strangely, the blue energy seemed to be flowing into Koga's body but he didn't notice.

His mind, his vision, his senses.

Everything was clear.

He could hear a faint cry coming from the edge of Muramasa's blade, making it sound like it was singing almost.

And in that beautiful, sinister, murderous song, it was telling him to fight until his heart was satisfied. Until every enemy was no more.

BVVVVVNNNNNNNNNN!

The red light of multiple cero's being fired entered Koga's vision. The edge of the cave started to disintegrate as the pure force of those blasts neared it.

But, Koga didn't flinch.

As the bottom half of his shihakusho was being blown around wildly from the incoming winds, Koga raised Muramasa and turned it horizontally in the direction of the incoming blasts.

Just as they were about to hit the mountainside that that cave was located in, all of the beams suddenly changed direction and headed towards Muramasa!

They entered the blade with such haste it seemed as if they were being devoured by it.

When the final beam fully entered Muramasa. the edge of it shined with a blinding red light.

Koga didn't waste any time as he slashed horizontally across the air, causing the beams to suddenly be sent back at the menos with over twice the force!

This was one of the abilities of the God-Killing sword and now an ability of Muramasa's, Absorption and Redirection.

BVVVVNNNNNNNN!

BOOM!

A red light descended upon the gillians and caused a massive explosion, destroying an innumerable amount of hollows in the process.

At the same time, as the smoke nullified the vision of the other hollows, he descended upon them like an eagle hunting its prey.

His first use of the shunpo caused him to overextend and miss his target's mask with his sword.

As a result, he ended up finishing the Gillian with more slashes than was needed.

Just as he did that, another Gillian appeared by his side and slashed at him with its grotesque white claws.

Koga didn't even bother dodging as he directly countered the attack by slashing vertically with Muramasa, splitting the Gillian in half with ease.

The sword arts that he learned in his past life combined with his knowledge of Zanjutsu were being put to use here.

These two easy encounters weren't out of Koga's expectations. After all, he wasn't fighting them because of their strength, it was because of their overwhelming numbers.

Every time Koga moved, he made sure to use Shunpo to increase his proficiency with it. He was purposefully fighting within the crowd to make sure that he was surrounded by enemies on all sides at all times.

SLASH!

SLASH!

SLASH!

SLASH!

The only time Muramasa failed to kill an enemy with one slash was at the beginning due to Koga's amateurish blunder.

Now, every time it came into contact with a hollow, they were cut down without prejudice.

Regardless, no matter if the blade cut their mask or not, none could stand before the new might of Muramasa.

Of course, this didn't mean that Koga got off without injuries. While his attacks were getting more precise with each swing, the Gillian's seemed to be getting better at quickly locking on to his position whenever he moved.

Some even launched pre-fire attacks which injured him slightly.

'They have a leader that's hiding himself somewhere. Mindless gillians cannot suddenly improve in battle. No matter, when he gets tired of me cutting down his army, he will show himself.'

BVVVVVNNNNNN!

A cero beam arrived in front of Koga's face with incredible speed and with an unholy reaction speed, he quickly shunpo'd in front of the attacker, raising Muramasa with one hand.

SLASH!

The hollow disintegrated immediately as it died.

Koga once again continued his assault as hollow upon hollow fell to his blade. Every strike was consecutive.

Consecutive deaths followed close behind.

At this point, Koga had lost track of how hollows he had slain. All he knew was that the numbers didn't seem like they were decreasing and that was perfect for him.

Shissshhhhh!

The sound of a hollow disintegrating entered his ear as Koga pointed Muramasa at a group of Gillian and said, "Gaki Rekkō."

A green circle appeared at the tip of the sword and started firing green blasts of light from its center in a cage-like formation.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

The group of gillians was blown back but none of them were killed. Koga's eyebrows furrowed for a second as he thought, 'My Kido skills seem considerably weaker than my sword abilities. Hm, more practice it is then.'

Like a machine, Koga pointed his sword at another group of Gillian's and whispered, "Kongōbaku."

A large fireball formed over the tip of Muramasa as he viciously swung the projectile at the hollows.

Another explosion occurred and a similar result took place.

They didn't die from the initial explosion but the remaining fire caused substantially more damage to them.

'Not bad.'

Koga then extended a palm at the hollows who were screaming in pain from the blistering flames.

"Sōkatsui."

A wide blast of blue flames shot out of his palm and destroyed the dozens of hollows in that area, causing the incessant screaming to end immediately.

Again, Koga continued fighting. Countless hours had gone by, the gillians numbers seemed to have only increased and Koga kept attacking.

It was at this moment that a strange thought had occurred in his mind.

'Why isn't my stamina decreasing?'
