1 Complete Failure

Several trucks weaved through the dark pavement. There are no other establishments around, only an endless desert.

People of different ethnicity sat on the trucks with serious expressions, as if ready to sacrifice their life in war. The atmosphere is stifling and gloomy.

All of them stared at a single direction. In the distance, there was a huge forest but looking closely, you could see a faint shadow of a house inside.

No one spoke nor speak, they all understood the importance of this mission. It was not for them, but for others. That's why they all joined up and ignored their past hostility with each other, only for their goal.

Beep! Beep! The walkie-talkie on their pockets rang as a static sound entered their ears. Their hearts began to tighten as they listened closely to the incoming message.

"Over, over. Can you guys hear us? Over."

A buffed white man quickly opened his pockets, replying to the message, "Team Alpha can hear you. Over."

Aside from Team Alpha, the teams in other trucks also confirmed. There was no problem with their communications. Stage 1 was done and it was time to move onto the next one.

"Requesting visual information of Wolf. Over."

"The Eagles have been deployed in one kilometer radius. Wolf has not left the Nest. Over."

Hearing the reply from HQ, the teams all sighed in resignation. Earlier, they were hoping for the Wolf to leave the Nest. However, fate really pitted them against the Wolf.

There was nothing they could do as they steeled their hearts in resolve. They have now left the road, their trucks entering the huge and dark forest.

Each leader of the teams signaled the members using hand-signs. Receiving the order, the members all warily inspected their surroundings.

There was nothing aside from terrifying silence. There was no sound besides the rustling leaves and whistling wind. Their minds all tried to focus but the deep fear born from their heart interfered.

The buffed white man confirmed no unusual signs from the forest as he quickly reported, "No signs of Wolf in the Jungle. Over."

"HQ has received the report. Confirmed. Over."

He softly placed the walkie-talkie on his pockets as he signaled the other members in Team Alpha. The members paled as they nodded their heads.

Stage 2 was over and it was time to move onto the next stage. Everything has been going smoothly, but an odd sense of uneasiness made them uncomfortable.

'The operation is way too smooth. Something is not right.' The leader of Team Beta looked at the truck in front. His gaze however focused on the house a distance away from them.

'I hope that the other leaders have the same thought as me.' He inwardly thought.

Their vehicles slowly neared the tattered house in the distance. The heart beats of the men also hastened in response.

It didn't take them a long time before their vehicles arrived at the door of the tattered house. The men of each teams slowly emerged from the trucks, numbering around seventy.

Frail or buff, tall or short, each kind of men was present in their numbers. Despite the difference in builds, they all radiated a strong presence around their body.

The buffed white man signaled everyone as the leaders from other team nodded their heads.

Team Alpha led by the buffed white man slowly approached the door of the tattered house. They walked as silent as possible.

Other teams surrounded the tattered house, some did a triangle formation, while others deployed mysterious talismans on each directions. All had different preparations but a single goal.

The buffed white man touched the doorknob of the tattered house. Everyone listened quietly as they waited for the signal to start their operation.

The leader of Team Alpha slowly turned the doorknob and unhesitatingly infiltrated the ruined house. "Aven of the East! You are arrested!"

His eyes peered into the room and saw a single chair at the center. There sat a frail old man in the chair as he smilingly looked at them.

The old man tapped the arm rest of the inclined chair. He looked at them with his bright eyes, "I've been waiting for you, people of Martial Alliance."

The buffed white man felt a shudder in his spine as he quickly tried to shout. He shouted at the top of his lungs but no sound appeared.

'What?' He thought to himself in shock.

The buffed white man then felt a sudden pain across his entire body. He instinctively looked at his chest, there was no wound.

'Why can't I speak?' He turned his head to look at his comrades.

They all looked at him in terror. The buffed white man suddenly felt the world go upside-down as his own body entered his sight. He lost consciousness afterwards.

The others all tried to run but the old man did not allow them. In just a single instant, their bodies were sliced into dices of meat.

Team Alpha completely obliterated!

This whole time, the old man watched everything unfold with indifferent look. The tapping sound of his finger halted as he sighed.

'I am indeed getting old. It actually took me a few seconds to kill all of them.' The old man thought to himself.

Looking closely, the old man's left hand had bloodstains! It was not there before, it suddenly appeared out of nowhere!

He sat still on his chair as he relaxed his body. The old man closed his eyes and actually fell asleep!

Outside, countless corpses from other teams lingered on the ground. All of their necks were cut apart from their body. Still having the same expression, they were not aware how they died.

A bloody smell permeated the whole forest, accompanied by the silence. Seventy men which of all are elites of their peers died in the center of forest!

Their walkie-talkie emitted a static sound as a voice tried to reach them, "HQ requesting information. Over."

"Team Alpha, speak! Over."

"Team Beta, speak! Over."

In a dimly lit place, several monitors placed on the front, while around twenty men listened closely to the communications. They tried to reach every team present in the operation.

Each time that a single team failed to respond, their hearts would beat faster. The white haired old man in the center had a grave look on his face.

Hearing that no teams responded, the white haired old man slammed the table beside him. "Damn you, King of Despair!"

The table disintegrated into powder as the white haired old man leaked out a horrifying aura. The other men around him did not speak.

Slowly, the white haired old man's horrifying aura vanished. He looked at the man who was handling the communication between them and the teams.

Understanding the white haired old man's intent, he slowly spoke in a hoarse voice, "There are no response from the Bears. We can surmise that they have been annihilated by the Wolf. The operation is a complete failure…"

Everyone did not speak as they sighed. The famed King of Despair, Aven of the East, has truly become old but his strength was still there.

"We have no choice There is no certainty that this devil will go a few feet deep into the ground. We have to deploy the Eagles and Gods." The white haired old man spoke in grave voice.

Everyone turned their heads to look at the grey haired and silver haired old man. They nodded their heads at each other, immediately reaching an understanding.

"The Eagles are in standby. We can send them out immediately."

"Tell them to stay in their position." The white haired old man ordered.

The man handling the communications nodded his head. He quickly went back to his work, sending orders to every men belonging in Eagles.

The grey-haired old man smiled wryly, "It looks like despite our age, we are still forced to take action."

The silver-haired old man did not speak. The white haired old man looked at everybody, "We must absolutely kill Aven! No one knows whether he will break through. If he indeed does, you can expect your lives to be a living hell!"

"We are the remaining cultivators from that generation. Be prepared to sacrifice your life to purge this devil!" The white haired old man spoke loudly.

His voice echoed in everyone's head as they nodded in unison. With the white haired old man's lead, everyone except from the man wearing communication equipment, vanished from the room.

Gods. The pinnacle strength of humanity has taken action. It is all to deal with the sleeping old man in the tattered house!
