Chapter 12

"boss, boss. These boys are here to kill. We gat take care of them" T said but King remained silent as he was still giving Leah a death glare. He could rip her head off at the moment if possible. "boss if we don't…" T was saying again but King cut in.

"I know" he said then took a short pause. "you better be telling me the truth. D, get boys to cover the back exit and the sides. Then some to cover us. T, you are with me. J, stay here. Anybody wey no be our boys, shoot them. No ask questions" King.

He turns around and leaves with T while D and J do as they are told. Leah sat down, panic and fear lacing her entire system. "this was all my fault, I caused this. I shouldn't have ran" she thought to herself. She tried to calm herself down that everything looked fine, that King was going to handle it. He looked like he could, and he always talked big game, so he should. Besides, he's King.

After some minutes King, T, D and the rest of King's men were able to kill all of Baba Sege's men. Some of King's men got wounded. King was pissed, he had by all means avoided a clash with a rival and now this just put them on Baba Sege's radar. Not that he was scared of Baba Sege, though he was the oldest amongst the three leaders of the three territories, but he believed that peace was another way to go. He was the one who set the rules, after his father's passing. After his father passed, he decided to give back the other two territories to the previous owners, so there could be peace, and that's when he came up with the rule for each group to mind their business and not kill each other's men. Now that was a problem.

After the gun fight, King and his boys came back to the house. King is silent and he does not say anything. Leah, scared to her wits tried to say something that might soothe King.

"look, I'm sorry. It's all my fault".

"damn straight it is. I told you stay inside this house. I provided what you needed, all you had to do was obey instructions, now Dogo is dead. I lost one of my men and some are injured. So yeah, it's your damn fault!" King screamed causing her to shiver and takes a few steps back.

D and J shared a look, before they look at T. All three of them look between T and King whose back was turned towards them and D motioned for T to go talk to King. T then walks up to King.

"boss. Bro. I know you are angry right now but we have to fix this" T said.

"how? How we want take do am? Remember say we get rule, "no kill anybody's boys". This thing wey we do so na war. Na war!" King said.

"first of all, you gat stop to dey shout. And you gat calm down" T said and King took some seconds to be calm, and reduced the tempo of his voice.

"you said I should calm down, so, what is your plan?" King asked.

"nobody survived right? So nobody knows that you are in town. Besides, you came back late at night, no one saw you come in. No one can say for sure that they saw King come in at so, so, so time" T said as he began suggesting a solution to King.

"I don't like where you are going with this" King said.

"leave. Leave town" T said.

"you know say I no fit. I get business to do. I run a business man".

"I know that level na. No be all of us wey dey here. Look, I'm not saying stay forever. Just go for a while, let things calm down. The boys and I will clean the place up, dispose of the bodies. Baba Sege will for sure be asking questions, so we need you out of town. Just go to that your hide out.

"which one?" King asked.

"the comfortable one" T said and King chuckled. "look don't worry, me, D and even J, as he small so, we gat you. But, you will have to take her with you" T added. King sighed and shook his head in a no.

"never. Impossible" he said with a note of finality in his voice.

"if you leave, they will come back for her. And they will not stop till they get her, so it's better to take her with you" T said. King turns around and looks at her.

"you want me to travel with that?" King asked and looked back at T and T nodded his head.

"don't worry bro, you've survived worse things. You can survive this. Just go get your things. We'll go out through the back and take the boat" T said and King leaves.

T motions for the boys to start clearing the place. Some go out and some stay in to clear inside of the house. As the boys start clearing the place, they start talking to Leah who is standing next to them, still a bit shaken up.

"madam, you know say na you cause this thing. Because boss K no dey follow any rival gang dey fight. But this one wey him do for you so. Na trouble" one of the boys spoke up.

"I know. And I'm sorry. You guys should help me plead with him" Leah said and the boy laughed.

"persin no dey plead with boss K o" another man said.

"so what do I do so he does not kill me?" Leah said, putting fear for her life as her number one fear in life. she wanted to leave.

"kill you ke? Boss K no dey people like that, especially women o. What you will do is thank him" the second man said. Leah withdrew her face, not believing that thank you would cut it, given the situation.

"thank him? He is pretty mad. I don't think you say think you to that kind of person".

"na the thing be that. See, wetin boss K do for you so, na help him help you. So as he don help you so, you go come give am, correct thank you package like this" the first man said.

"you know. Do for him what he cannot do for himself" the second boy added, but they only succeeded in increasing her confusion.

"what? I don't get".

"this babe you slow oo. Dey code sharp sharp na" the second man said.

"I still don't get it".

"do the thing. Why this boy con dey speak grammar. The thank you na the thing. Jangelover" the first man said

"wait, sex, like I should sleep with him" Leah says mortified and all the boys laugh.

"why you dey do face like say you no sabi. See my sister, if you want to live, just help yourself. Thank God, you are a woman, so you have advantage. If you were a man, you go beg till tomorrow… what am I even saying sef, you will not see tomorrow" the first boy says.

"but I thought you said he does not kill women?" Leah asked.

"tomorrow is a new day. And all things become new, boss K included" the man replied.

She looked terrified and the boys started laughing. When T and K come back and the boys see them, they stop laughing and get back to work.

"you, let's go" King said and turned around and started walking away without waiting to see if she was following of not, his anger was very evident. T taps King's shoulder for him to wait for her. She gulps and starts taking slow steps towards them.

"control your temper guy. No go kill persin pikin" T said.

"if she keeps walking that slow I might" King says then T gives him a look. "I will try. That's the best I can do" King added, ending the discussion.

Leah catches up with them as T motions for her to walk faster. They leave the house through the back door and then walk through the bush path, till they get to the river and King and Leah enter one of his boats and sail off, while T returns back to King's house.
