1 Prologue

"Yo," a man in white called out to me. Somehow, despite being in front of me, with there being nothing else in the room we were currently sitting in, I only noticed him after he made his presence known.

"Hello? Where am I," I asked.

Seriously, I was just minding my own business, listening to music in my room and out of nowhere I'm here?

"You wouldn't get it even if I told you," the man shook his head. "The point is, you died and now it is my call where your soul will end up."

"Ah, so you're a god," I nodded.

"You're pretty calm for someone who's just been told they died..."

"I wasn't exactly caught completely off guard," I shot the alleged god a look. "You can only survive so many brain aneurysms."

"Anyways," God looked pretty amused as he said, "I called you here to help me decide where you'll end up in your next life."

"Cool."

"Er..." God coughed, "So, like… Any world at any time period is fair game, even fictional worlds."

"Oh? So theoretically speaking, you could send me to the world of Saya no Uta?"

"Yes… But, are you really considering going to the setting of a cosmic horror story?" God chuckled.

"Nah, I just wanted to hear your response." I paused for a second, "Hmm… Well, if anime worlds work, you send me to the world of My Hero Academia?"

"You just want a superpower, don't you."

"Yup," I shamelessly said.

"Ok, go ahead and name one and I'll see what I can do."

"A-are you serious?!"

"I'm a god. Why would I bother kidding around with you?"

"Hmm… Alright I want a mature Chakra Fruit's worth of chakra and all the bloodline powers in Naruto," I said with the straightest face I could naturally pull off.

"I see you're not a fan of working hard," God sighed, but didn't outright refuse my absurd request.

"You know, on second thought, can you give me a Quirk that lets me use powers from the Final Fantasy games?"

For a solid dozen seconds God just stared at me. "I will only give you one superpower."

"Final Fantasy abilities for the win, please. I don't think I've even heard about someone trying to make a fanfiction with that kind of premise."

"Right..." God laughed to himself for some reason, "Anyway, before I send you on your way, pick between reincarnation and transmigration."

"Transmigration," I said without hesitation. "If you turned me into a infant and I had to live through years of immobility, without being able to do things for myself, I think I'd want to kill myself."

"Random transmigration or do you want to substitute someone from the My Hero Academia Canon?"

After a bit of thought, I said, "I think replacing me with the original protagonist, Izuku Midoriya, will be for the best."

"Ok, and how old do you want him to be before the substitution?"

"I think he was fourteen at the start of the story, so that should be good."

God waved his hand with a smile on his face and the next thing I knew I was laying down with an alarm blaring to my right.

'Fuck, that was weird,' I thought as I shifted from under the covers and turned off the alarm.

Looking around, I was clearly in the bedroom of an All Might fanboy unlike any other. 'I guess, my encounter with God wasn't just a dream or hallucination,' I thought before I cringed. A flood of memories threatened to split my head; though, only for a second.

A moment later, I knew exactly where I was. I knew the layout of the building and the route I would be taking to go to middle school. I knew of my new mother and the Japanese Language. I knew more about heroes and Quirks than knew what to do with. I had become Izuku Midoriya.

And upon returning from freshening up in the bathroom, after taking off my All Might themed pajamas to put on my school uniform, I became intimately aware that my Quirk had manifested.

For in my chest, embedded into my flesh, I saw a crystal that seemed to stretch far enough to replace where my heart would have been. On my body, I found several Pulse L'cie brands, marking me like tattoos. All of them were stage one brands, though.

'A crystal and l'cie brands… I guess this means I'll be getting Final Fantasy 13 powers,' I thought.

I must have stood before the mirror trying out dozens of methods to use my Quirk for quite a while as the worried voice of my new mother, Inko Midoriya, called from the door to say, "Izuku, dear… Are you alright? If you don't come out to have your breakfast soon, you're going to be leaving late..."

"I'm fine mom, just… I'll be out in just a second," I said as I hurriedly put on my uniform.

The l'cie brands that had manifested along with the crystal could luckily be concealed by my uniform. They appeared in my chest, left and right forearms, nape, and left and right thighs. A small part of me resents not having one on my face, but a larger, more sensible, part knows it's probably better this way.

"Good morning, mom," I say as I approached the table with a smile.

"Good morning, Izuku." Noticing my smile, she started smiling as she asked, "Looks like someone is in a good mood today."

"I've… decided to start making some changes to my life," I said as I started eating from my plates of fish, soup, and rice.

"Changes?" Inko looked confused by my vague wording.

"Right, changes. All this time, I've wanted to become a hero, but the most effort I've put into my goal is studying them from afar; fantasizing about their Quirks and their potential. U.A's Entrance Exam is just under a year a way, but I haven't done anything to prepare my body for it."

So… you want to start working out? Maybe pick up martial arts or learn how to use a weapon?" Inko paled as her imagination ran wild.

"For now, I'll start by eating more and exercising to build more muscle."

"That's… wonderful, dear," Inko said with hard-to-miss sadness in her tone.
