Boy in the trap

(A/N: WARNING: there are some gory descriptions for those readers who don't like blood and stuff but it's only for a little bit at the part where the female and male lead meet ;))

Ebony woke up to find both her parents gone from the tent, which was unusual as her mother or father would at least stay to warn her not to leave the area.

'where are they? Did they leave already? Have they abandoned me?'

Whilst panicking Ebony quickly dressed and tidied herself up so she could go out and see if they were nearby. Werewolves had stronger senses so she could tell if they were nearby or not just by listening or smelling. Funnily enough she sensed her parents were close but she couldn't pinpoint their exact location.

'they must be further than usual, I wonder... '

Easing the tension in her shoulders she realised her parents had made her breakfast with a note attached to the side. Sitting down she eyed the cooked meat on her plate, licking her lips as she got ready to tuck in. Pushing down her hunger, she remembered the note and decided her parents must have wrote something important as they would usually just wake her up and tell her.

'Don't leave the territory till we return and make sure not to draw attention to our home, love you sweetie - mum and dad'

Reading the note she began to get nervous, why would they tell her to not draw attention to the camp? From whom were they hiding from? Her thoughts ran wild, as she struggled to come up with any answers.

'I just need to wait... I'll wait till mum and dad come back. It'll be ok'

"ahhhhh" a loud scream from the woods nearby broke her chain of thought causing her to jolt up. Nobody knew this area existed so how come someone, an unidentified presence at that, had entered through their borders. Even with the recent increase in traps and defences around the border her parents made when they discovered humans were closing in on them.

Ebony, unable to focus due to the constant sobbing of the child, decided to investigate the scene of the crime. Her mother always warned her 'curiosity killed the cat' as she knew Ebony had tendencies to go places she shouldn't go.Forgetting her mothers warnings she ventured into the forest heading straight to the whining child.

When she arrived she saw a small boy probably the same age as her but a lot weaker looking. His skin was pale and his puffy red eyes had dark circles over them that looked like eyeshadow had been smeared over them. Overall he was a decent looking kid, with soft dark brown hair that clashed against his light skin on his slim, frail body.

Ebony eyeing him up and down stated, "you should eat more look how thin you are, no wonder your wailing like a baby"

Startled the boy flipped his head over his shoulder in suprise, looking at Ebony's long glossy white hair that blew in wind wrapping neatly around her face. It was a know fact that her hair colour was only a trait found in the Snow family. In comparison to the boy, she had a much larger frame and natural muscles due to her going out hunting with her parents. Stuttering the boy cried "y-you h-help me p-p-please" he begged pointing at his foot that had a sharp spear like stick stuck through it.

Blood kept pouring out from the boys foot which astounded Ebony as she didn't think the boy had all that much to begin with. The boy started whimpering whilst gazing up to her with puppy dog eyes that screamed 'you have to help me now that you've saw me'.

"Ha, something this simple of course I can help you. Don't worry I'll help just stop crying" she commanded authority evident in her tone.

As she moved closer to the boy she whipped out her hunting knife and cloth. "Th-thank you..." he looked up at her face as she steadily used her knife to saw through stick planted deep into the ground.

"Ebony and you?" she continued as she finished cutting through it. All that was left was for her to rip it out from his foot.

"Charles b-but my dad calls m-me Ch-charlie" he sniffled whilst wiping his tears onto his sleeve.

"Well Charlie bite down on this for a bit" she handed him a thick piece of bark that he received with a puzzled look, "suit yourself you only risk biting your toung or cracking your teeth" she sarcastically remarked, smirking at his red stained face. 'how long has he been crying?' she thought.

He quickly nodded and stuck it in his mouth fighting past the bitter taste that filled his mouth.

"Just warning you now but this will hurt a tincy wincy bit" she said stringing out the words which eased Charlie's strained muscles. This resulted in him jolting back ten times harder when she ripped the stick from his foot in one clean swoop.

"arggghhh, aghh" his muffled screams leaked out from the gaps between the bark and his mouth. 'she lied this hurt's like hell! There's nothing tincy wincy about any of this' his thought lit up on his face as Ebony used the cloth to rap his foot up and stop the bleeding.

"warned you sooo" she chimed while lifted him up into her arms bridal style,

"ohh and you can spit the bark out now... unless you've discovered a newly found bark craving" she joked.

Charlie spat the bark out on the floor contemplating how she still has the nerve to joke after what she had just done.

"put me down, stupid" he murmured under his breath burying his head into her shoulder to hide his blushed face.

"hmm" she smirked realising his embarrassment to the situation, she began moving forward carefully as he eased his grip on her shoulders. Slightly agitated by his lack of closeness she fake-fell forward forcing him to hug her tightly. Giggling softly, so he wouldn't catch on to her joke, she began running forward towards her home that way she could properly clean and treat his wound before sending him on his way back home.

'ha, what a hero I am' she proudly praised herself not knowing what she was inviting into her home.
