It's been three years since the mysterious illness came and I finally decided to visit the hospital to see what was wrong with me after Jonas asked me to.

I parked into the parking lot and walked into the hospital.

I checked in with the receptionist. As I waited for my turn, I looked around the waiting room. There was a mother and child sitting across from me.

The mother held the child in her arms as they waited for their name to be called. I felt a slight jealousy course through my veins before it went away as instantly as it appeared. I don't know why I was still feeling jealous of familial bonds after all these years.

Ever since I was a young child, I was always ignored but I comforted myself that it was better to be ignored than to be abused. Now, I am 21 years old and still can't forget.

I sighed and I turned my gaze away from them and spotted a couple. They were making out with each other and I grimaced.

'Ugh, this is not what I want to see right now.' I thought with disgust.

I was jolted out of my thoughts when a young nurse dressed in a pastel pink scrub uniform exited the doorway. In her hands was a clip board and she glanced down at it before looking up. She tucked a piece of her red hair behind her ears before she said, "Kodak Emerson?"

"That's me," I replied as I got up from my seat.

"Follow me." The nurse responded.

My mouth fell open slightly when she suddenly disappeared into thin air.

'What the fuck? How do medical providers do that? They ask you to follow them, yet they walk so fast that you lose them. Where the hell am I supposed to go now?' I wondered as I continued walking.

Suddenly, the nurse stuck her head out from the corner and said, "Sorry, I lost you but your room number is right here. Number 25."

"Okay."

I stepped into the room and waited for the Doctor's arrival.

After a while, he finally came into the room.

"Ah, Mr. Emerson. What have you come here for?" He asked with a curious tone.

"For the past three years, I don't know why, but I felt a sharp pain in my chest." I said, getting straight to the point.

The Doctor nodded in understanding.

"Well Mr. Emerson, I'll have the nurses run some tests and we will see what the problem is." The Doctor said with a slight smile.

I just nodded my head.

---

"You have a terminal illness." The Doctor stated as soon as the tests came back.

I just blinked at him waiting for him to continue.

"I'm sorry Kodak. There is no cure." He said with an apologetic expression on his face.

"I see." I replied without batting an eye.

The Doctor looked like he wanted to say something else but decided against it.

"Can I go now?" I asked him when I figured he didn't have anything left to say to me.

"Yes, don't forget that you only have 1 day left to live."

'Well shit.' I thought as I nodded at the doctor.

He left the room, leaving me sitting on the bed with a blank face.

I didn't know what to think.

I got up from the bed and walked out of the hospital.

'Now what was I supposed to do with 24 hours left to live?' I pondered.
