Chapter One: Unconscious

November 19th, 1983;

"we can't lose him Martha, not now.... hurry up!!! follow his tracks-",

Mr. Johnson's voice reverberated from the hand held transceiver, inducing me to flinch slightly as the intimidating silence surrounding me was perturbed.

I drifted right, trees gliding past me in streaks as I wind down the road, cold breeze ruffling through hair and licking at skin. I hurried the pace of the cart, following after the retreating shadow. my heart continued pacing heavily in my chest while I neared the dense forest located at the end of the town.

deep scowl took over my facial features.

the realization that the criminal must've headed inside this thick woodland inhabited by the wildest of creatures and drowned in the hostile darkness, slowly sinking in doing nothing to ease the haunting situation I was currently strangled in , sending shivers down my spine.

"reporting, miss Martha jones, reporting: the criminal is suspected to move inside the forest located at the end of the town. should I head in sir?"

I announced into the transceiver, patiently waiting for Mr. Johnson's commands and instructions, bringing the petrol cart to an abrupt halt.

"follow him Martha, I'm sending another cart to aid you in this mission. may the forces be with you..", Mr. Johnson as the head of our crew, wished me the best of lucks and the radio was soon cut off , leaving me alone in the deafening deadly silence and dreary night to go after the most wanted serial killer of this decade. inhaling a shaky breathe, I calmed myself down.

sky stretched high above me like ferocious raven's wings, nightfall glittering overhead. cautiously, i crept into the dark forest, with a torch in hand being my only source of illumination, guiding me down a certain path filled with cobblestones. I wandered further and further deep into the dimly lit woodland when my ears piqued up I curiosity.

was that...

a rustle??

a faint rustling of leaves was perceived from my left as I abruptly turned to the aforementioned direction, clutching a loaded gun and pointing it at the source of the noise, enthusiastic over finally getting the opportunity to rob that criminal off his hideous life and dwell in the pleasure of doing so.... however all my eyes could spot was a frantic squirrel-

"huh?"

muddled over the addition of this tiny character to my mission, I let my gun holding hand fall limply to my side. "so you were the one who almost gave me a heart attack?", I chuckled, amused over the irony of the situation.

but that was soon wiped off of my face when a husky scent invaded my nostrils, warm breathe fawning over the nape of my neck.

there's NO way I could've misinterpreted that.

and was soon proved correct when gruff voice whispered into my ear ,

"looking for me, hun?"

an searing pain shot out from the back of my head, slowly crawling down my spine and my knees buckled. darkness decorated my line of vision and slowly I succumbed to unconsciousness. that bastard knocked me out. shit.
