36 Should I Run Away?

"Who am I?"

I shook my head slowly as my whole body shivers.

The end of my fingers are beginning to feel like it's buried in ice; my teeth are shattering in anger; and until to the ends of my hair, I can feel the pain.

Betrayal, sadness, anger, fear, and loneliness.

The little delicate small world I was starting to create was slowly shattering to fragments of lies coated with the false perception I grew to embrace.

I was beginning to accept that amongst the stars, I was the moon, and even if I was the odd one in this world, I knew that I still exist, and perhaps, it doesn't change the sky.

The breeze that swiftly caressed my skin made me realize that my cheeks were covered with my salty damaged tears.

I wasn't able to feel that my body's already showing my frustration.

"Do you know about it?" I asked Aiven with my teeth shattering in anger.

"No, I wasn't able to catch the similarity to your last name when I met you before. It's... it's also a shock for me," Aiven said with a light tone.

I don't want to look at him while I'm crying, I don't want him to see how messed up I am.

"Can you leave me for a while?"

I asked as I wipe my eyes with the shawl over my shoulders.

The wind was cold, but somehow, it's the only thing I feel aside from this whole black hole.

"Alright, I shall see you in the hall. But, I'll leave you this bell," he stood up and took something from his pocket.

A small round bell was on his hands, I watched him put the bell beside me, "Ring the bell three times, and I'll go straight to where you are."

I nodded and lowered my head that it might get buried to my chest, "Alright," I whispered.

My sobs were beginning to show when I felt Aiven's hand over my shoulder, "Amy, don't forget, we're here for you. No matter what happens, you can always count on us," he tapped me twice lightly before he waltzes back inside the castle.

I took the bell and put it inside my pocket with the gemstone.

Now, what should I think?

Is there something else to believe now?

Who's telling me the truth?

I groaned as my throat came to a burning sensation from suppressing my cries. I've been crying a lot of times since I came here.

I never imagined I'll get to know the truth about my father while we're here in another kingdom's ball.

I mean, I never even thought that there's a 'truth' about my father. All this time, I was thinking he's busy about his job or maybe he has a new family, that's why he almost never goes home.

But, all that idea I had are beginning to blur.

I can't even imagine my father anymore-- about what he does, where he is, and who he is.

I pulled my shawl over my face, in case someone sees me, they wouldn't see my make-up all messed up on my face.

I bet I look like a ghost now.

I slowly lied down on the bench with my feet still touching the ground, while using my arm as a pillow.

I guess no one will even go here, the party's at the hall. No one would think to go to the garden, there's nothing to see here but darkness.

I wonder, maybe the reason I was brought here was because of my father, but why would they bother taking someone like me to this place?

I grew up in the human world, didn't I?

Or maybe not?

God, I don't even know who I am anymore.

Prince Forest, does he know about my father? What about Regin? The maids? How about Granny?

But... what if they knew? Why are they hiding it from me?

And what would I even do if I found out they're hiding it from me?

I pinched my arms as I began digging deeper about the questions that popped in my mind, I've been thinking too much that it hurts my head.

"Well, what do we have here? A beggar?"

I creased my brow when I heard footsteps walking towards me. I saw five ladies through the shawl, two are ladies who I've seen before. They're also bride candidates. The other three are maids, wait, shouldn't they be in the attendant's room?

I sat and remove the shawl from my face, "What do you want?" I asked with an irritated tone.

All I wanted was to be alone, but here comes trouble.

"Look at her face," the blonde girl wearing a neon orange eyeshadow let out a chuckle, "She looks like some sort of sullied animal."

My face flinched as she keeps on talking.

My mind's already loud enough and she's just making too much noise.

"Come on, take her. They're waiting," another woman spoke, and without a sound, I felt my mouth covered with a cloth, while someone was tying my hands behind me.

I wiggled out, but the three maids are all holding me down.

I saw the two bride candidates nonchalantly checking their nails, and retouching their make-up.

I shouted, but the cloth made my mouth shut tight, making it sound like I was just humming.

These maids are moving too fast, fast enough to make it feel like they just tied me for a second.

When they were finished, one maid stared directly to my eyes, and sudden dizziness came to me.

My vision blurred while I feel my body getting lighter and weaker, if I let myself feel this sensation, I'll definitely fall unconscious.

Maids aren't supposed to have such powers, I read it from Aiven's book. They're only supposed to have powers that are well-fitted for a servant, such as Lulu's cooking talent, or Lili's endless cleaning spree, or Lala's genius arrangements.

Something's definitely wrong here, they're not just maids.

I have to do something, I can't be caught in another trouble.

Who are they anyway? They're not doing this just because they want to, I can see that. If they're doing this out of their own interest, they'll be having fun while torturing me now. But they're just trying to knock me out, and they even said that someone's waiting.

I have to get out of here.

I have to get the gemstone or ring the bell.

I don't want another trouble to finally end my sanity.

I stood up and jumped, I need to ring the bell three times.

I have to jump three times, but my body is too weak.

"What are you doing? Are you crazy?!" Shouted the other bride candidate with beautiful all-white eyes.

I threw them a glare, only one more jump and Aiven will be here.

"Stop!" The orange eye-shadow lady commanded, and I was sent flying in the air without any word.

She's from the Charlie Kingdom then, she's someone who can make things float.

"Alright, let's go," the white eyes lady commented as she began walking away.

Are there any guards here? Is someone even patrolling this place? Where are all those knights and guards earlier?

Isn't this the time when they have to guard the whole castle premises?

I don't want anything to do with Regin or Aiven at the moment after I found out about my father, but I need them now.

What should I do? I don't have any powers, unlike my father who's even an A level powered man.

I just closed my eyes as we move, while I was still mid-air, being pulled by the air by this woman.

I saw a carriage waiting for us, not far from where we are. It's waiting at the end of the garden.

I thought all carriages are waiting by the entrance? Why is this here?

You know what, after what happened, I can't just rely on the thought that this world works a certain way I don't know, because everything here is a mystery to me, even my identity is still a complete question as of the moment.

But I am not stupid to stay still, I can still move up here.

I smirked and shook my whole body until I heard the third chime of the bell.

And before we can even reach the carriage, I saw the woman who was making me float, flew away, and Aiven was there with Regin, who caught me as I fall down.

Why is he here? I didn't break the gemstone.

He stared at me with a fierce look, "Gemstones break easily, Miss. I'm sure you didn't intend to break it basing from your expression," he said and he put me down slowly.

Aiven's skin was suddenly covered with white fur, and his paws showed with his long claws with his eye glowing like a bloodthirsty wolf.

I saw the woman got thrown to a tree, making her faint. The white-eyed lady threw a glare at Aiven, and suddenly a strong gush of wind was felt.

I looked at where the wind was coming from and saw a tornado, forming slowly behind us.

"Miss, run," I heard Regin whispered to me while he unties my hands and uncovered my mouth, "Run fast to the Prince," he said as he takes out his sword.

But I'm not like my father. I can't run that fast.

I stare at him as I slowly stood up.

The three maids were eyeing Aiven, and Regin, but the other bride candidate was watching me move.

What should I do now? Should I run away?
