59 I burned half the field

I was sent to a wide empty field after I ate breakfast and dressed in comfortable black shorts and a blue shirt.

The field was empty, aside from a single large tree rooted on the far right. The wind was rough and loud, almost making me feel as if I am being pushed away from this place.

"We'll start off with a small fire," a man wearing a black robe with long white hair and bear said.

The maids said that he'll be teaching me how to use my power correctly, and even though we left my room with confusion circling in my mind, this man never even said a word about power.

I forced a laugh with my hand on my hips, "I'm sorry, but I don't have any match to make a fire or wood," I said as I try to lighten up the old man's dark and frozen gaze on me, but he just stares at me with no interest on what I said.

"Stretch out your hand, open your palm and make a fire," he said under his breath without blinking.

The maids and butlers around me were staring, waiting in anticipation, eager to see what I can do, but I was still confused. I am not some sort of fire bender.

"Princess, just do what I say," the old man said in his last strand of patience.

I sighed and stretched out my hand, opened my palms and stared at it for a long time.

Make a fire? How?

All I know is I'm some sort of Alice thrown in a not-so-wonderland. My uncle wants to marry me, I have a brother, my mother killed a Queen, my father punched my brother, and a Dewdrop showed me memories she said I had, and I am missing someone named Forest.

I hate it here.

I want to go back.

I want to be normal.

I hate this place.

"That's it!"

I want out.

I want to wake up and go to school.

"You're extraordinary, Your Highness!"

I want to destroy everything.

"What?" I shook my head with what I just thought, destroy everything? Where did that thought come from?

I was too occupied by my thought that I didn't even notice that I was surrounded by fire and I almost burned half of the field while my palms were burning with a wild angry red fire.

"Help!" I shouted as I panicked on what was happening.

I'm surrounded and holding a fire but I can't feel the heat, it wasn't hot. Yet it was warm and uncomfortable warmth that makes me feel suffocated.

"Sis, calm down," I saw Kai running towards me with a mixed expression of worry, irritation, and anger drawn on his face, "Breathe."

Breathe. Just like what he said yesterday when I fell on my knees.

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and I slowly calmed my nerves that was going berserk.

I felt the same rough wind brushing against my skin, then the smell of burnt grass welcomed me.

"Are you alright?" Kai asked as he runs towards me, "Are you hurt?"

I shook my head as I stare into my empty palms that were letting out fire not too long ago.

"Prince Kai, Her highness was magnificent," the old man came to us with a wide successful smile and ecstatic voice while looking around the burned field, "She was the epitome of perfection. She can already burn this large portion of land, imagine what she can do to the village of---"

"Cut your tongue, you useless mage," Kai angrily muttered as he gazes on the old man, "You were supposed to tell her what her power is about today, not push her to use it."

I was struck by what the old man said, 'imagine what she can do to the village,' he said. Was that supposed to mean that I'll burn some village? I internally screamed when I finally realize that Sorin is really a crazy man. He'll definitely use me for his will.

And just like what everyone said, I won't let him do that.

We went back to the castle, and I saw my mother and father talking about the ball that was supposed to happen next week where a lot of people will attend, especially a few names mentioned.

"Meteor, how was the introduction?" Mother greeted me with a smile as she walks towards us, but she stopped on her track when she noticed some burnt patches of grass on my pants as well as some black dust on my face.

"It wasn't an introduction, Mother," Kai went ahead and kissed our mother's cheeks and went beside our father who was reading a list of names that were invited to the ball, "That mage made her use her power, and she let it manipulate her which resulted to a large fire burning almost half of the field. She's really dumb," he scoffs.

Mother stared at me with wide surprised gaze, her hair that flows down to her chest was soft to stare at, but her worried face was painful to see.

"Amelia, tell me what were you thinking when you used your power?"

I shrugged my shoulder, "I don't know," I whispered as mother held my arms with a soft gaze, "I was stressed, I don't know what I was thinking about. I just wanted to go back home, and everything returns to normal."

She was nodding her head softly with eyes that tell me that she understands, but then, the words she said next made my body shiver in fear. I don't understand where it came from.

"Did you perhaps, wanted to destroy everything?" She asked.

I stare at her beautiful eyes, then I slowly nodded.

"I'll tell you something, whenever you begin to think that way, wake yourself up and don't entertain that idea, alright? That's the turning point of our power and our sanity. Sorin became this way because he embraced the thought of destroying anything, he lost himself to that poisonous thought."

I was left sitting beside my father with my mind spirals into thoughts while they all read each name on the invited list.

I still feel lost, and now that I saw myself using that power, I was more than scared especially that if I didn't snap out of it earlier, I could've burnt the whole field and lost myself.

"Prince Forest accepted the invitation. He was the last one to respond and be written on the list," Kai said while holding the paper.

I shifted my gaze on the paper and pulled it from his hand, I read the 639th name, 'Prince Forest Myler Lorcan of Gathrin Kingdom'.

Forest... I have to meet him. I know he can explain everything to me, Dewdrop said that we have some kind of relationship.

"Woah, easy there, dumb sis," Kai took the paper away from me easily, "We don't have any other copy. We have to return this back to Sorin without any trace of reading it."

He rolled the long paper carefully, not leaving any crumple or tiny tear on it.

"Tell me, what are we suppose to do? If Sorin is the enemy here, why are we here with him?" I asked while staring at my father who was staring at me too.

He sighed and buried his face on his palm while Kai stood up and vanished into thin air. Mother looked away while caressing her hand, which I only noticed was clear unlike in the photo where she has a scar.

"To make sure that we know what he's planning. Also, because they'll kill innocent people just to find us again if ever we run away."

I felt my head ached with the stress of what is happening.

I can't believe I'm in a real magical mess with life at stake. These things only happen in shows in the human world.

"Then, if we just stop Sorin, we'll be fine, right?" I asked.

"Stopping him will only make him stronger, Meteor, we have to eliminate him," Mother whispered.

Kill Sorin? But that's against the law. Murder is a crime. Or it is not in this world?

### A/N ### This is a bit longer than the 500 characters for the intended Author's note so I had to put this here.
