62 I'll See You

PRINCE FOREST POV

The fear and anger in Amy's eyes were unbearable to see. I certainly know who's behind all this, and once I see him, I'll cut his throat. I'll make him pay for laying his hands on my precious Amy.

"I know what you feel---"

"Yeah, of course, you do. You did this to me," she said with her jaw clenched and teeth grinding.

I was shocked with her expression, I have never seen her be this angry, and I never imagined I would. She always wore that lost expression, her eyes always wondering about her life; but now, here she is, completely drowned in hatred for me.

"Amy, I promise you. It was not me," I said with my voice as soft as the wind that blows from the wide-open window along the hallway, "Someone used my appearance. I would never hurt you," I stared at her narrowed eyes, "Never."

She didn't even blink. She just stares at me with her fire flickering in her hands. I should've seen this coming. King Sorin invited me here, that means he wanted something to happen.

"I thought you loved me," Amy whispers tenderly, with her voice cracking along with her emotion. Slowly, tears came running down her soft pale cheeks. Those chubby cheeks used to puff whenever she smiles or laughs, but now, tears come streaming down on it. "I saw it, I felt it, but why did you turn out like that? Was it all a lie?"

I shook my head, "No. It was not a lie. It was true. What you felt was real. We are real."

I can't believe I have to finally open up my feelings for her. I used to think that showing her was enough, I didn't have to explain what I felt for her word by word. I thought it'll be embarrassing.

But right now, I have to do it. I have to show her that I love her, that it was not me who hurt her.

I stood up straight while she remained alarmed on her feet. She didn't move an inch but her eyes followed mine.

"I love you because you are different. The way you speak, act, laugh, think... everything was so rare, and I had to grab it. I have to have you or else my world will never be the same again. Even though you always put yourself to trouble, I never felt any weariness in saving you. Even if you ran away from me, I always had my feet ready to follow and look for you. Even if you hurt me, I'll still continue bleeding for you."

I found myself smiling while telling her those words. I don't even know if it makes sense since I just blurt out what I felt and what my mind though as I was staring into her softening eyes. She was finally surrendering and listening to me while her fires disappeared.

"Even if you forget me, I'll still love you, Amelia Snow. My sweet, sweet, Amy."

Her tears stopped for a second while staring deep into my eyes, searching if my words were true, then a second after, she burst out crying.

"I knew it," she said while crying as her hands wipe her tears away, "I knew you'll save me. I always miss you even if I can't remember who you are."

I wanted to run to her, put her in my arms and comfort her, but we heard faint voices coming from the next hallway.

If someone sees us talking, King Sorin may hurt her again.

"Amy, go back and change your dress, I'll meet you later," I whispered as Regin looks for a safe way towards the hall.

Amy stared at me with her wet cheeks and tearful eyes, "I still don't fully trust you, Forest," she whispered with her brows narrowed like a little child angry at someone they love, "I'll see you."

My heart swelled with hearing her call me with my name without my title. I remembered that day in the garden when she was about to call me 'Forest' but retracted and walked away.

I'll do what it takes to hear her call me again. No matter what it takes, I'll bring her back home.

"Your highness, let's go this way," Regin tilted his head to a turn with his hand still holding his sword.

I looked back and saw Amy running in the opposite direction.

This night will not end normally, King Sorin's end is near and I'll be the one serving it.
