66 Don't Do It

Forest was standing in front of me, his finger tucking my hair while the other caresses my hand. He was staring at me with his soft sweet smile. I feel as if I'm the most beautiful thing in this world with how he loves to stare at me.

"I won't go away," I whispered as I shyly smile at him.

My heart wasn't thumping as loud as earlier, but I am sure it is at ease. It is peaceful. It is calm.

"From what I know you fled multiple times before. I can't let you go this time."

I chuckled, I disappeared? Why? Where would I go?

I'm totally dying to know how I lived my life before. Was I really that hard to handle that I have to have five attendants?

Wait...

I stood straight and looked around. Speaking of attendants, Gerald, the knight King Sorin ordered to guard me was not around since earlier. I didn't remember him until now since I am not used to having maids and knights.

"What's the matter, Amy?" Forest asked as he looks around along with me with his wrinkled forehead.

I ensured that we're the only one here along with Regin, it'll be risky if Gerald was silently following me.

"Gerald, my knight, I forgot about him. He's not around since earlier which is weird because he was always around silently watching me."

"Someone's coming, Your Highness," Regin suddenly whispered as he holds his sword while staring at the door, ready to attack in case someone enters.

Forest also took out his sword as he pulls me to stand behind him.

We were silent, waiting for the person to open the door. But instead of the door moving, it was Kai who spoke outside.

"Amy, you have to go back now. Gerald suddenly appeared, he's looking for you. I guess King Sorin didn't want you to enjoy the party alone. He ordered Gerald to stay with you."

I knew it. I clicked my tongue and rolled my eyes.

"Amy, listen to me. After the ball, we will attack King Sorin. We will end his plans tonight. You can go back home with me."

Forest held both my hand. He stared into my eyes with eagerness to finish his plan. His hand tightens as I stare back at him in silence.

"You can't," I whispered as I stare at the door, Kai is waiting, "You can't. We're not sure if you can finish him off. He has a lot of guards. He's powerful... no..."

I took a step away from Forest.

I want his plan to happen, but I can't risk everyone around King Sorin.

My family, the villages, and Forest... If he fails to stop King Sorin, I'm sure the villages and Kingdoms he's trying to destroy will burn into ash.

I'm sure my mother and father would've tried killing King Sorin if they can. But they didn't.

It's too dangerous.

"Amy? Are you listening to yourself? This is our time, we can stop him. Just believe in me."

Forest narrowed his brow, begging me to agree with his plan.

"Amy, please. I want you to come home with me tonight," he whispered as he places both his hand on my cheek, "Please say yes."

I held his hand and felt his warmth. But I shook my head.

If I let him do that, the guards might attack everyone before they can even stop King Sorin. I'm sure there's a better plan to stop this without risking others.

"I'm sorry, Forest. But I can't take the chance of failing and hurting others. I've been here for a week now, and I know how wicked King Sorin is," I said as I let him and go and went to the door, "Please. Just go home after the ball. I don't want you to get hurt."

"Amy, I came here to bring you home. I will not go without you."

I stood behind the door with my hand on the knob.

I also want to go with him. I want to be with him. I want to but I can't.

"Please, don't do it."

I whispered as I turned the knob, and there was Kai standing anxious.

"Let's go," Kai immediately carried me on his arms and he didn't even wait for a second, he ran as fast as light.

Before I can even blink my eyes from the quick action, I was already standing beside our parents. Mother fixed my hair while Father pretended as if we were just continuing a conversation. I saw Gerald looking around, and when he saw me, he walked right straight to our direction.

"What a waste, Mister Anderson was such a wonderful man," Father made-up a talk and even laughed loudly.

Mother also joined the made-up conversation along with Kai. It sounds as if they're used to pretending as if they are talking about other people when someone is about to walk up to them.

"Right, what do you think, Meteor. He was really funny, wasn't he? If he didn't sell his wife's jewelry, the missus wouldn't think that he was cheating."

Father winked at me to signal that I should join in or else Gerald will be questioning us.

I nodded and fake a laugh, "Yes. Mister Anderson should've at least gave his wife new jewelry as an apology."

I felt Gerald standing behind me while listening to our conversation.

I did not look at him or else he might know that I was watching his move and was conscious about him.

I continued to make up stories about this unknown Mister Anderson, who I never heard nor seen before. I just hope no one bears that name in the guest or else it'll be embarrassing.

Gerald was just silent until Father greeted him as if he didn't notice Gerald all along.

"Sir Gerald, we didn't notice you there," Father faked a large smile, "Are you here to guard Amy?"

I looked behind me, and there was this tall man, staring down at me.

"Yes, I have been searching for her all this time. I didn't notice that she was just here."

Gerald nodded his head at me and bowed, "Good evening, Your Highness," he said. "King Sorin mentioned that you spent some time with Prince Arias."

I nodded, what does King Sorin want me to tell Gerald about Prince Arias? He already had a talk with us earlier.

"Did the Prince mentioned anything about His Majesty?" Gerald didn't look away from me, instead, he was staring right through my soul, wanting the truth about what Prince Arias and I had talked about.

"Nothing," I shook my head, "He was just telling me about his childhood. I also asked him about the different kingdoms and he told me places that I should visit."

I lied, of course, we talked about King Sorin. But I didn't flinch nor looked away from Gerald. I maintained my posture. If I have to make a lie, might as well make it believable.

Gerald looked unconvinced, but thank goodness, Father and mother nodded, "Yes, Prince Arias sent her back to us after they talked," they said with a smile.

"Is that so," Gerald whispered before breaking the staring contest we were having, "That's good, at least you learned something from the Prince."

I took a deep breath when Gerald looked away from me, that was close. If I didn't think fast earlier, I would've been caught lying.

I saw Gerald eyeing something in the other direction. His eyes grew narrow and his jaw grew tense.

I turned my head and saw Forest, he was walking with Regin and approached some people and talked with them.

His plan was too simple. Killing King Sorin isn't as easy as ABC. He's in his castle, surrounded by his guards, that won't be easy.

I don't care if Forest is much stronger than King Sorin if his plans endanger people I love, I won't give him my approval.

Before he can even lay his hands on my demonic uncle, King Sorin has already ordered his men to do his plan, that's how clever he is.

I also want to go with Forest, but I have a family. I have people I want to protect too. I won't leave them, I won't let anything separate us anymore.

I just hope, he won't do it anymore. Please, Forest. Just wait and I'll do it on my own. I'll destroy the person who made my life miserable.
