2 Nerves

I'm so nervous about the ball later. My son and I will be announced to the world. Maxon comes to see me. He already has Luca and he got Luca to put on the tiny suit. My maids made a beautiful purple dress for me to wear. "Mommy you look pretty!" Luca says. "Thank you, sweetie, " I say. "She always looks pretty doesn't she Luca?" Maxon says. "Maxon he's never seen me look like this, " I say. "I didn't mean the clothes. I meant you no matter what you are wearing, " he says. I blush. Luca runs and hugs my legs. I bend over and pick him up. "Ready?" Maxon asks. I shake my head. "You'll be fine and if you aren't I'll be right there, " he says. I put Luca down and grab his hand. Mary comes with us because we are all going to be announced individually so she is going to walk with him down the stairs. "Maxon! The announcer guy what last name does he have!" I panic. "He has Singer, " he responds. "No no no he's supposed to have Schreave!" I panic. "But America you raised him for now at least he should have your last name, " he says. "No! Maxon you're his father, " I say. "I'll take care of it, " Mary says running off. She comes back a moment later. "What's his middle name America?" Maxon asks. "Youll find out soon enough, " I say. They start with the king and queen and then they announce Maxon. The crowd thinks that it is Kriss's turn but then the announcer continues. "And now Sir Luca Maxwell Schreave." The crowd is confused because they know Kriss was never pregnant. Mary walks Luca down. "And lastly Lady America Rose Singer." I take a breath and turn the corner to walk down the grand staircase. The crowd unexpectedly erupts into cheers. A sigh of relief escapes me. Then someone yells, "Where is Kriss and why is she here! What's with the kid!" Maxon clears his throat. "Kriss and I parted ways. I made a terrible mistake sending America home. I was lucky enough that she took me back, " Maxon explains. "That doesn't explain the kid!" someone yells. "Not long before the choosing ceremony America got pregnant and I was unaware of this until yesterday, " he explains. "Who is the dad!" someone yells. "Me, " Maxon says. Everyone claps and I'm not quite sure why. I walk over to Maxon and Luca. "Why are they clapping, " I whisper. "Because they are happy that you are back, " he whispers back. He picks up Luca. "Dad can we play a game, " Luca begs. "Not right now...tomorrow though I promise, " he says. Luca nods. A guard walks over. Oh it's Aspen. "There are a few people who want to come in, " he whispers. "Who?" I ask. "Im afraid you cannot know, " he says. "He whispers something to Maxon and walks away. A few moments later girls come running in squealing. Omg its Celeste and Natalie and Elise and Marlee. "America!!!" they squeal as they are colliding into me. "We missed you!!" they squeal. "Same!" I say. "Mom!!" Luca exclaims running up to me. "Yes?" I ask. "He said I could ride a pony!" he exclaims. "Who?" I ask. "Dad!" he replies. "Of course he did...okay that's great Luca." Luca scurries away. "America you and Aspen had a kid!" Celeste exclaims. "No." "But that is why you are here right because of Aspen...and where is Kriss?" Celeste says. "Actually Luca is Maxons, son. Kris's and he broke up. Maxon cane to Carolina on business and found me and Luca there, " I explain. "Awwww, " they chorus. "Well we want to meet him!" Marlee says. "Wait when did you have the kid though?" Elise asks. "Well I got pregnant, not long before he chose Kriss and of course you can meet him, " I say. "I'll be right back." I walk away to get Luca.   All of a sudden I feel a sharp pain in my back. I feel sick. I feel blood dripping down my back. I've been stabbed in the back...literally. I start to fall but a guard catches me. "Your highness!" he yells. I can barely talk. I can barely breathe. I see Maxon turn and he looks at me. He runs over. "America?" he says. "To the hospital wing immediately, " he orders. The guard obeys and picks me up and runs with me to the hospital wing. "Dad!" I hear Luca yell. I see Luca run to Maxon. Maxon gives Luca to Aspen to watch and I can see Maxon running after us. "He catches up with us as the guard awkwardly puts me down due to the wound in my back. "America please don't die. I need you, Luca needs you. I can't lose you, " Maxon says. "I love you Maxon and everything will be okay, " I struggle to say. I blackout and what I'm guessing is a few hours later because it is very dark I wake up. My wound was fixed. I still feel a little light head but I'm alive. Luca is curled up in a ball at my feet sleeping. Maxon is awake and sitting in the chair next to the bed. "Maxon?" I whisper. "America? You're awake!" he whispers. "It appears so, " I whisper laugh. He kisses me. "I love you so much America and if you ever scare me like that again I-i-i don't know maybe ill throw you in jail, " he says. With whisper laugh. "Ow, " I grimace. "It even hurts to laugh, " I say. He looks pained for me. Luca moves a little. I nudge him to where he moves and is laying right next to me. I fall asleep holding my favorite men in the world hands. Maxon and Luca.
