9 Chapter 7: Good Night

We had been walking nearly the entire day, and the smell around me did not seem to be getting any better, such as Ben had said it would. Well those were not the exact lines that he had used, but he had at least told me that I would get used to the rotten, and nasty stench at some point.

I could see the sun dipping in to the horizon ahead of me, and it still did not seem to be getting any sort of better at all. I was just doing my best to ignore it at this point now. Maybe that would make me feel just a little bit better on all of this at the exact same time as well.

I had gone in to this, thinking that as soon as I was to walk out of my two leg nest, that I would be out in to the open world of the wild. I felt like an idiot for even thinking such as that now, as I kind of wished that I had not told Ben of the dream that I had last night, as this did not seem to be all that worth what I had thought it would be.

Even after what Ben had told me as well, about his mother losing her life to save her kits, I still felt like the dream that I had, might not have been real at all, in the first place. I did not know the cat in the dream, and I still felt that it might have been my sub conscious telling me to do some thing that was very stupid.

I had been tempted, several times through out the day, for Ben to take me back, as I knew that he would, but at the same time too, I also knew that he would not be too happy with me as well as the fact that he would also be a slight bit disappointed in me at the exact same time too.

I shook my head, as I continued to stare down at the ground, listening to the foot steps of Ben at the same time as well, so that his foot steps would guide me on where it was that I needed to go, as well as where it was that he was even taking me in the first place any ways.

I know that he had told me that it was a very long walk over to the cats place that he was going to take me, but I did not expect it to be this much walking. It was the most that I had ever had to walk in one day, and it had me the most worn out that I felt like I had ever been in my entire life, even back when I used to play game with my two legs.

I shook my head at the exact same time too, as I also knew that was another part of my sub conscious trying to get me to change my mind for some reason as well. I was listening to that part of my sub conscious a lot more than I was thinking on the part that I should in fact be going out in to the wild.

It was a terrible idea... I felt sick, as I just did my best to try to shake off all of those thoughts at the same time too, as I kept on following Ben, as to the place that he was taking me in the first place, which happened to be one of his friends two leg nest of course.

I felt like, this might be a bad idea, as I was worried that if I spent another night in a two leg den, than it might mean that I would not ever want to leave a two leg den. I shook my head at the same time as well, as I knew that I was not going to let that be the case at all, but I still could not help but to think those type of thoughts in my head at the same time too.

It was now starting to get really dark at this point, and it was starting to get me quite a bit worried as well, as I then lifted my head up, finally for the first time in quite a while, as I looked at my friend Ben, at the same time too, as I was just about to ask him how much further we had until we got to the place.

I knew that Ben had told me that I was wasting a whole lot of time when I was at my old two leg nest, which was the proper name to call it I felt as of right now. I felt like a lot of this was my fault, due to the fact that I had just been standing in that room for a long time, not being able to make a decision on what it was that I was even going to do.

As I looked at my friend Ben in front of me, I saw that he too had stopped, as if perhaps he was now starting to realize that we could not get to this place in just one night. He did not have the look on his face, that was too say as such, but at the same time as well, I also knew that he was a very hard cat to be able to read too.

Ben was just staring ahead of him, at the no longer existent sun that had been in the sky not too long ago, as it had been lighting up our path all day, up to this point, where the sun was not there any more. I blinked a few times, as I was a little bit confused, as I was not sure as to what it was that I should be doing at the same time as well either.

I shook my head, as I just stared at me friend for quite a bit more of some time, a bit afraid, as I was not sure as to what it was that we should do right now, as I shivered a little bit, and I then dipped my head a little bit low to the ground, at the exact same time as well.

I heard a loud yap come from a near by two leg nest, as it made me jump, as it felt like every time I had heard one of those it scared me til near death, as I felt like I could never forget some of the horror stories that I had been told about what a dog often did to a cat, if it got its paws on you.

I shivered, as I felt quite a bit sick, as I did my best to shake off all of those thoughts at the exact same time too, as I had not a clue as to what was going on at the exact moment, nor what it was that I should be doing, at the exact same time either, as I just kept my head a little bit low to the ground for not all too much longer.

That was when, finally, Ben turned his head back over to me, and he nodded to me at the exact same time as well, as I too lifted my head back up, and I stared at him for just a few moments, as I was not sure as to what it was that I should even be doing in the first place. I blinked a few times, as I then just made the smart decision, as I then nodded back to him.

Ben squinted his eyes at me for some reason or another, which I was not sure as to why, as I had not been doing any thing that might be labeled suspicious, or out of the ordinary for that matter at all either. I was about to dip my head back down to the ground at the same time too, until I finally heard him begin to speak to me. I blinked my eyes just a few more times once again, as I then listened as to what it was that he had to say to me at the exact same time as well.

"Alright Kettle... It is right in front of us. I recommend that you go straight to sleep when you are to get in to there, as I can tell you are quite a bit tired... Tomorrow will not be as rough, but that cat I told you about... She will be..." He said to me at the same time too, as I tilted my head a little bit confused at the same time too.

I felt like there was still some thing he was not telling me about that cat, even if he told me that there really was not at all, and that she was just a little bit of a harsh cat. I felt like, while that might in fact be true, there still was some thing that he was not telling me about the cat that I was going to meet, tomorrow as he had now told me.

I dipped my head to the ground once again, as I was not so sure as to what it was that I should be thinking at the exact moment in time, as I was not so sure as to what it was that I should be doing either. I breathed in heavily as well, as I just wanted to get all of this over with if I was going to be completely truthful with my self.

After a few moments of me standing there, staring at the ground, which I knew was not all that good of a look to my friend Ben either, I did in fact finally lift my head back up to him, as I then nodded to my long time friend at the exact same time as well, waiting for him to do the same too, giving me the go ahead to speak to him.

He just continued to have his eyes squinted at me for quite a bit of some time, as if he had not noticed me do so not too long before now. I shivered a little bit at the same time too, until he in fact, finally did nod back to me, letting me know that he was paying attention to me. I breathed in a heavy sigh of relief, as I then in fact did begin to speak to him.

"Alright... I am ready... Lets go..." I said to him, as I waited for some sort of response from him at the same time as well. His response, to no surprise at all to me either, was him going back to the fact that he was squinting his eyes at me once again, just as it had felt he had done several times today at this point.

I felt sick, as I also felt like I just wanted to get this over with at this point as well too. I felt like this had taken for ever to get to this point today, and I did in fact just want to go inside, and find a cozy place to sleep for the night, as I knew that once I was in the wild, I would not find very many of those.

I shook my head, as I knew that I was still thinking way too ahead of schedule too, as I knew that I needed to have my thoughts on the present. I still was not so sure if I would even be able to hunt, as I had never tried to before, and I had also been told that a kitty pet, such as I was, was not able to hunt.

I knew that was not the case how ever, as I had met plenty of kitty pets that were able to hunt, Ben included in to that, even though he said he did not like it hunt all that much, as most of the time you had to be out in the wild, so that you would be able to do that in the first place.

He had told me, that even if the food was in fact better, he still did not want to go out in to the wild. It was why I did not want to ask him again, if he did in fact maybe want to come with me. I knew that he was perfectly fine living in a two leg place, as it did in fact sadden me quite, I knew that there was no changing his mind.

I sighed a little bit, as I continued to stare down at the ground at the same time as well, as if I had not a clue as to what was going on, or what it was that I should even be doing in the first place. I almost felt like I wanted to cry at the same time too, as I felt like I was having a little bit of a mental break down as well.

I shook my head how ever, once again, as I lifted my head back up to my friend Ben, as I saw that he was no longer looking at me, but he was looking at the place that he had just told me about in front of him. I squinted my eyes, in the hopes that I might be able to see what it was that he was looking at in the first place, but it was just far too dark for me to be able to do sigh.

I let out a heavy sigh at the same time too, as it had felt like we had been stuck in this one spot for ever now, and I was starting to get quite a bit tired of it as well, as I really just wanted to find a place to sleep at this point. Luckily as well, the heavy sigh that I had made at the same time too, did not seem to come in vein, as I saw Ben turn his head back over to me.

I blinked a few times, as I saw him do the same as I did as well. It was as if he was trying to copy me on purpose, and it kind of got on my nerves, as I just wanted to go inside and get some good sleep, before we continued on our little journey, so to say, in the very next morning.

After just a little bit longer how ever, I then saw that Ben nodded to me, from the corner of my eyes, as I was just about to dip my head back down to the ground. I lifted my head back up, and I squinted my eyes at him, as he was acting quite a bit strange. I did in fact nod to him how ever, as I waited for him to go ahead and speak, which after a few more moments, he did in fact do as well. I listened to what it was that he had to say to me at the exact same time too.

"Sorry... This cat used to be my mate... We are still friends... Its just..." He had begun to say to me, as I saw him dip his head a little bit low to the ground at the same time too. I was a little bit shocked, and confused by it, not the fact that it was his old mate, but more the fact that he had been opening up to me so much as of today. I blinked a few times as well how ever, as I heard him begin to speak once again, as I listened as to what it was that he had to continue off with too. "Sorry... I have wasted enough time as it is... Lets go..."

I looked at my friend for just a few moments longer, as I was not so sure as to what it was that I should say to him how ever. I saw him turn his head away from me at the same time too, as I could tell that he was quite a bit embarrassed with all of it, at the exact same time too, even though I was not judging him at all though.

I blinked a few times as well, as I all of the sudden at the same time too, finally, saw him begin to continue to walk, just as it had felt like we had been doing all day. I was so hungry, and so thirsty too, I sure hoped that there was going to be some stuff at his friends place, to at least fill me up in the slightest.

I shook my head though, as I saw him start to get a fair distance ahead of me, as it now all of the sudden felt like I was the one that was wasting a bunch of time again, as I suddenly began to run to catch up with my friend. He did not seem to notice, or to care for that matter, as I knew he heard my loud foot steps clomping to catch up with him.

I wondered if it might be due to the fact that he could be as tired as I was. Based off of the look on his face, to my surprise how ever, he did not seem to look to be that tired at all. I suppose, if I was to think about it, it would have to be due to the fact that he always walked out side, so he was more than likely used to having to do a lot in just one day.

It was a lot of the reason that I was also confused as to why he would not want to join me in going out in to the wild as well, as if he liked to move around so much, than why would he not want to go move around every day, in the most beautiful place that you would ever be able to see?

I shook my head, as I shook off those thoughts at the exact same time too, as I saw Ben turn him self a little bit to the side, as I saw that he was taking me to a specific two leg nest. I blinked a few times, as I continued to follow him at the same time too, as I almost wanted to laugh at the two leg place that was in front of me as well.

It was a tiny one for sure, as it did not even look to be near half the size as the one that I had used to live in. I shook my head, as I then shook off those thoughts as well. I suppose it did not matter at all to me, if the two leg place was big or not, as I was not going to be living there, and there was nothing for me to be complaining about, if I had a comfortable home for the night.

I shook my head once again, as we stopped right at the front of the steps to the small two leg nest as well. I blinked a few times, as I was not so sure as to what it was that I should do. I was not used to me going to another kitty pet home, as I was always used to cats visiting me, when I had lived at my old two leg den.

I stared in front of me for quite a bit of some time, as I was not so sure as to what it was that I should do. I looked for just a bit longer, until I all of the sudden at the same time as well, then saw Ben turn his head over to me, and look at me too. I blinked a few times, as I was not so sure as to what was even going on in the first place.

After Ben continued to stare at me for some time, and I stared back at him, with a blank look on the face of mine, I then saw him nod to me. I stood there for a bit longer, but I then did in fact nod back to him. After a few more moments, Ben began to speak to me, and I listened as to what it was that he had to say to me at the exact same time as well.

"You stay here... I am going to let her know that I have a friend with me..." He said to me. I blinked a few times, as I then nodded to him at the same time too, as I then watched him walk in to the two leg place, through the small little cat door, that I wondered if I could even fit through.

I suppose, if I had seen Ben fit through it, than I should be able to fit through it, as we were just about the same size, even though, since I had known him for quite a bit of some time, I was a lot smaller than him, when I had been so much younger. I shook my head at the same time as well, as I also let out quite a bit of a heavy sigh.

I stared in front of me, as I looked at the cat door for quite a bit of some time, as I then all of the sudden began to hear cats talking from in side of the two leg nest. I blinked a few times, as I was almost tempted to just go ahead and walk in, but at the same time as well, I also knew that this was not my two leg nest, and it would be disrespectful for me to do so with out permission.

I let out a bit of a heavy sigh, even though I knew that there was not a cat near by to even notice me do so in the very first place. I got my self a little bit comfortable, but not too comfortable as to the fact that I might just fall asleep on the front porch to this two leg den that I was at right now.

That is when I heard the voices of the cats that were speaking from in side of the two leg nest, begin to start to yell a little bit louder than they had been before. I could tell that either one of those cats were not too happy in side of the two leg den, if not both of them being quite a bit upset.

This did not feel good for me either, though I could not hear what it was that they were saying, I could in fact tell that they were arguing with one another, which had me kind of worried if I would in fact get a cozy place for me to lay my self to rest for this very night.

After a few more seconds of me just staring ahead of me, at the cat door, I all of the sudden stopped hearing the voices of the cats speaking from in side of the two leg den. I tilted my head a little bit confused, as I was also a little bit worried at the same time as well, if some thing might have happened to Ben.

I blinked a few times, as I was just about to walk in to the two leg den, to make sure that my friend, Ben, was in fact okay, but all of the sudden, I began to hear loud foot steps of one of the cats from in side, coming to check on me from out side of the two leg den. I was now starting to get even more worried than I had been a few moments ago.

I wondered if the cat that he had just been arguing with in side, had managed to kill Ben, and she was now coming for me. I gulped a bit, as I jumped back wards at the same time as well, as I all of the sudden at the same time too, then saw a cat pop out of the cat door.

I was very scared for just a few more moments, until I saw the cat that was in front of me. This cat did not scare me at all, as I saw it was quite a small cat, as at first I had almost even wondered if it was simply just a kit. I saw the look on the face of the cat how ever, as I realized that it was not a kit at all, but it was just a very small cat.

I breathed in a bit of a sigh of relief, as I saw the cat tilt her head a little bit, as it was clear that she had noticed that I was a little bit scared, and she had not a clue as to what it was that I could be so afraid of in the first place. I blinked a few times, as I was not so sure as to what it was that I had been afraid of in the first place either.

After a few more moments too, I then heard foot steps of another cat, going a lot slower than the cat that had just joined me on the front porch of their two leg den. I then saw the cat pop out, and I saw the cat to also be my friend Ben at the same time too, as I let out a bit of a soft sigh of relief.

He did not seem to have too happy of a look on his face at all how ever, which did not make me feel good at all either. I blinked a few times, not so sure as to what was going on, or what it was that I also might have missed, when the two cats had been arguing with one another, in side of the two leg den.

I looked at my friend, with a bit of a confused look on my face, as if I was hoping for some kind of answers from him at the same time too. He was paying me no sort of attention at all how ever, as I saw that he had his eyes locked on his ex mate, who I saw that she was not paying him any sort of attention.

His ex mate had her eyes on me, as I then saw her nod her head to me at the exact same time too. I blinked a few times, not sure what to do, or what was even going on in the first place, but after not too much more time, I did in fact decide to make the smart, and respectful decision, as I nodded right back to her as well.

This time, it was her turn to blink her eyes at me, as I could tell that much like Ben did to me, she was trying to read me, and see if I was a good cat, or what it was that I was thinking in my head at the exact moment as well. I wondered if that was where Ben had got it from in the first place.

I had to assume that it was vice versa how ever, as I could tell that she was not nearly as good as it, as Ben was. She looked at me for just a little bit longer too, until she then let out quite a loud sigh at the same time too, as she finally began to speak up to me at the same time as well. I blinked a few times; still not too sure as to what it was that was going on in the first place, but I listened as to what it was that she had to say to me any ways.

"Hello Kettle... I am Stream... My friend told me that you need a place to stay for the night, and that you are going to go to Nights in the morning, and that she is going to teach you how to hunt! That sounds awesome!" She began to say to me as well, as I felt at the same time too, that her voice, and the way that she spoke to me too, kind of annoyed me. I shook my head how ever, as I shook off those thoughts at the same time too, as I listened for what it was that she had to say to me, as she then continued to speak to me as well. "You are welcome to stay the night! I have a whole comfy area for you to sleep."

I blinked a few times as well, as I was not sure as to why she annoyed me, or why it was that I should be any sort of upset at the cat at all, as she was in fact giving me a safe place for me to sleep for the night. I just was not so sure, as it felt like there was some thing about her that kind of got on my nerves.

I wondered if Ben was thinking the same thing as I was, as I saw that he had her eyes squinted at her. I suppose I could see why she was in fact his ex mate. She did not seem to be a mean cat at all to me, but she just seemed to be the type of cat that would be annoying to even be around most of the time.

I let out a little bit of a soft sigh at the same time too, as I did my best to shake off those thoughts as well. If I was just going to be completely honest, I was grateful to have one more night where I was able to sleep in a warm and cozy bed, and that was for sure not a thing for me to complain about on that.

I blinked my eyes a few times, as I stared at Stream for a little bit longer, and then I nodded to her at the same time too, to let her know that I had heard as to what it was that she had just said to me as well. Stream blinked her eyes a few times, and then she too in turn nodded back to me, making me feel better in just the slightest.

I gulped a few times, though not much spit came out at the same time either, due to the fact that I was so thirsty, and I had not drank any thing since early this morning. I shook my head, as for some reason, that was going to be the first thing that I was going to say to Stream, as I then began to speak to her as well.

"Thanks... I am hungry and thirsty... Do you have any thing in there for me?" I asked her. I blinked a few times as well, once again, as I kind of thought that she was going to get upset at me for asking her that question in the first place, for some odd reason or another.

I moved back, a bit scared as well, even though I knew that the cat was a lot smaller than me, and there would not be that much that she would even be able to do to me. The cat stared at me for just a little bit longer as well, as I then shook off all of those thoughts at the same time too.

I was not so sure as to what it was that my brain was even thinking at the moment, and what it was that I was even so afraid of. I had been afraid this entire day, of a lot of different things as well, that I was not sure as to what it was that it was even about, and what it was that was even going on with me in the first place.

I stared at the cat for just a little bit longer, as to my surprise, I saw a little bit of a smile pop up on her face at the same time too. I was not so sure as to why it was so much of a surprise to me in the first place, as I blinked just a few times, as I then began to smile back at her, making me feel just a little bit better.

Stream looked at me for just a little bit more time as well, as she then in fact did not to me. I looked at her, and then I too nodded back to her. She kept her smile on her face, which still felt a little bit strange to me, as she then began to speak to me at the same time too. I blinked just a few times, and then I listened as to what it was that she even had to say to me in the first place.

"Yes... Come in side... The food and water is right beside the sleeping mats... I will show you where it is, though it shouldn't be too hard for you to see..." She said to me. I looked at her for a few more moments, as I no longer felt annoyed by this cat at all, as I felt a lot more grateful that she was giving me a place to stay for the night, as well as the fact that she was also giving me some food and water as well.

I kept my smile on my face, as I then saw her turn her head around me on suddenly, as she then went through the cat door, in to her two leg den. I blinked a few times as well, as for some reason I was not sure what to do, nor whether or not I should follow her in to her home, even though she had told me to do so just a few moments before.

I stared for a little bit more time, as I then suddenly saw from the corner of my eye, at the same time too, that Ben nodded to me. I turned my head over to him, as for some odd reason or another, I was still a bit confused as to what it was that was even going on around me in the first place.

I blinked a few times, to let Ben know that I was quite a bit confused with what it was that was going on, but I saw that Ben was paying me no sort of attention now, as I then saw him go in to the two leg nest, following right behind the foot steps of his ex mate, that still felt a bit strange that he was still friends with her too.

I shook my head, as after just a few more moments as well, I then realized as to what it was that I needed to do, as I then went up to the cat door, gulping a little bit, as for some reason I was still a little bit afraid to be heading in to a two leg nest that was not my own in the first place.

Of course, I did not have my own two leg place any more, which kind of saddened me a little bit, but at the same time too, I also was a bit happy by it, as I felt like I did not want to be owned by two legs, and have them need to feed me, in order for me to survive in the first place any ways.

I shook my head, as I then walked in to the two leg den at the same time too, as I went through the cat door, I spotted both Ben, and Stream waiting for me on the other side of all of it. I blinked a few times, as I then saw Stream nod to me at the same time as well, pointing her head in front of her too.

I stared for just a few seconds, until I then saw as to what it was that she was looking at in the first place. A smile then popped up on to my face once again, as I saw water, and food right in front of me. Not just any food how ever, as I saw right away that it was in fact wet food.

Not just any wet food either, but I could smell that it was fish wet food, which was my most favorite thing to eat in the world. It tasted even better than a mouse or a squirrel, which I had eaten the both of those too. I quickly began to sprint over to the food, which I could tell surprised both Ben and Stream, though they did not say any thing about it at all how ever.

I ignored the both of them at the exact same time too, for quite a bit of some time, as I then began to eat in to the wet food, and then I began to drink the water at the same time as well, not realized until this point, just how thirsty I had even been in the first place, as I held the smile on my face for quite some time.

As I ate more and more of the wet food, I then realized at the same time too, that this was not my food, and perhaps I should not be stuffing my self with this in the first place. I had to figure that this had to be Streams food, and she was simply being nice enough and sharing it with me.

After a few more bites, and a few more laps of water as well, I then pulled my self back, and I then looked around the room that I was in at the same time too. I was not paying any sort of attention to either of the cats at the moment, as I felt quite a bit tired, as I then went over to the mats, to lay my self down for the night too.

As I then dropped my self down, I was about to close my eyes, until I saw a cat walking over to me for some odd reason or another. I blinked a few times, as I tilted my head a little bit confused until I saw that the cat was Ben. Ben had quite the big smile on his face too, as he began to speak to me.

"You are funny Kettle... Good night..."
