Chapter 4: A Difficult Decision

As Ken and his mother walked back to the village, he couldn't stop thinking about Zelios. It was rare for someone like Ken to run into someone leagues above him it left him feeling powerless. However, that only made him want to train more so he could one day reach a level like that since Ken has never been the type of person to sit around and do nothing. It made him tremble with excitement and only strengthened his desire to adventure out into the unknown. He made sure not to forget Zelios's words.

"Hey, can we talk about earlier when you said you would let me leave the village? Normally you would just say no to me or try to change the topic, did something happen to change your mind?"

"That again? I didn't really want to talk about it anymore since it's a decision that hurts even me when I talk about it. I'm sure you can imagine all the dangers and risks that are out there, I couldn't imagine anything bad happening to you, that's why I never wanted you to have a goal like this. The reality of it is I can't keep you chained down to the village forever. I realise now that one day I'll have to let you go and have you become your own person..."

"I understand. I'm sorry that I've had to make you decide something like this That's why I'll only go when I know I'm ready, as I am now I won't be able to do anything let alone make a difference. I'm still far too weak."

Ken let out a deep breath as it seemed like he had finally come to terms with him just not being as strong as he thought. Ken's mother was stunned hearing words like those come from her own son, but it made her happy. She realised that this trip to Alecentria would have a lasting effect on him and had given him a lot more knowledge. So in a way, it was a very much needed experience for Ken.

She let out a smile and looked ahead at the setting sun, and just like that the exciting day for Ken had almost come to an end.

"It seems like we're going to get back to the village a little late mother."

"I wonder whose fault that would be."

"Are there any correct answers that aren't myself?"

"Sadly for you, there are not."

The two continued to talk and laugh all the way back to the village.

Ken and his mother arrived back at the village she decided to go home and put away the stuff she had purchased at the market.

Ken decided to walk around the village aimlessly for a while he thought about if the village would be able to defend itself and be kept safe without him. In deep thought, he decided to head home to rest.

Ken walked up to his bed, turned around, spread his arms wide open to the side and fell onto his bed. He said one thing to himself before going to sleep.

"It seems like I've got a lot of work cut out for me starting tomorrow."

This kind of a laid back shorter chapter. There'll most likely be a couple more of these before the main adventure can start. Even so, I hope they're still enjoyable to read.
