10 Aexiq

The test result came out the week after. A total of 46 people took the test but only the top 30 will be accepted and everyone was eager to know whether they were qualified for the course.

Everyone, except for Zordyz.

He was his usual lazy self. He didn't even bother to check the board. He was that confident and was not about to squeeze through the crowd for it.

"Yo, did our captain pass the test?" Ayden popped out behind him, putting his arm over Zordyz's shoulder.

"That's a guarantee. By the way, I'm not your captain anymore. Isn't Riff your captain now?" Zordyz answered lazily.

"Heh, Riff can never best you when it comes to ability and leadership. You'll forever be my captain." Ayden said with a puffed-up chest.

"Stop talking nonsense. You haven't played with him yet. How do you even know? How brave of you to judge a third-year." Zordyz looked at him with mock disdain.

"I'll know it by today," Ayden said with a grin.

The bell rang as they were talking. "Got to go!" Ayden hopped out of the classroom.

Zordyz also got up from his seat and walked towards his new classroom at the afternoon class section situated in the west wing of the school building for the Magic Cure lesson.

The result of the test was pinned on the notice board at the hallway so he can get a glance at it on his way to the class.

Other students have been avoiding him along the hallway due to his cold aura and the girls only dared to take peeks at him. Any people who did not know about his achievements would have thought that he was a delinquent by his looks.

"Zor, wait up!"

He turned around to the sound of light footsteps.

"You didn't wait for me." Yuenelia caught up with him.

"I'll see you in class anyway. What's the rush?" Zordyz said nonchalantly.

"We haven't checked our results. Aren't you curious?" she asked, steadying her breaths.

Her hair was tied in a simple lace rose braid, giving her a very soft look. People would have tried to approach her if not for Zordyz. His intimidating figure keeps them at bay. Having him beside her puts her at ease, knowing she would not be bothered by random students.

As expected, Yuenelia was placed in the number one spot, scoring full marks on the test. And Zordyz came as a surprise, placing third.

"Zor, you really did i-"

"Tch."

Yuenelia turned to an annoyed Zordyz. He was not completely happy with what he saw. He lost the last two points which he knew was from a silly mistake.

"Aren't you happy with the result?"

"No, I didn't get full marks. What's there to be happy about?"

Yuenelia was speechless. Zordyz only started studying three years worth of lesson two weeks ago and was able to score such a high mark. Yet, he was not satisfied with it.

'His normal test score has always been in the 70s and that was from studying with me. He slept through most of it though. He usually doesn't care much about it. Why is he so serious now?' Yuenelia thought, looking at his profile.

Placing second was a student from a different class; Aexiq Lydon.

"Aexiq? Never heard of him." Zordyz said.

"Me too."

"Hmm? If he's this good at the subject, you should know him."

"No, I don't think he's from our junior high. I've never seen anyone with his name before." Yuenelia answered.

"That would be me." A voice from behind startled them.

A student wearing a different school uniform was standing just a little away from them.

He has purplish-black hair, with his bangs covering his right eye. His soft features gave him the look of a studious person.

"Hi, pleased to meet you, number one and number three. I'm Aexiq Lydon, a former student of Soltrial High." the student named Aexiq formally introduced himself with a slight smile. He raised his hand towards Yuenelia for a handshake.

Before Yuenelia could react, Zordyz stood in front of her, blocking her view.

"We have names, you know?" Zordyz said with his hands in his pockets.

"Sorry about that. It became a habit. We used to call the top three students by number only. Soltrial High was very competitive academically. Let's not be so uptight, shall we?" Aexiq said in a matter of fact manner.

"Your school is five cities away. That's a long way from here." Zordyz said. His tone not any friendlier than the last.

"My parents moved here, so I have to move too. Logical, right? Besides, Hertbane High is the only school around here that offers medical courses." Aexiq's answers were straightforward.

"Is that so?" Zordyz continued to speculate Aexiq.

He is usually indifferent when it comes to meeting new people but something about the new student ticked him off. He didn't like Aexiq's vibe.

"Zor, stop giving the new student a hard time. All of us should get going before the second bell rings." Yuenelia tried to cut off the awkward interaction between the two guys.

Reluctantly, Zordyz walked off first, leaving Yuenelia with Aexiq.
