Pam reaches for her beverage, fully prepared to lift the ceramic mug and take a sip of the hot brew. Unblinking, straight and to the point, she tells Jonah, “Your father and I have decided that you should be with Ricky. We want you to be his husband. Ricky has loads of money, a great career as a quarterback, and he’s a sweetheart to look at. Plus, he drives that steamy hot Hummer which makes me tingle all over.”

A heavy sigh escapes Jonah. He rolls his eyes. Leave it to Pam to make him feel uncomfortable upon the first ten minutes of his visit home. “Mother, my boyfriend’s standing right beside me. Maybe we should show him some respect. Can we nottalk about this?”

“Oh hush, Jonah. Sam needs to realize his fate. There’s more fish in the sea after you. You belong with Ricky, and Sam will just have to find someone new. Both of you need to end your little affair, split up, and move on. Case closed. Don’t argue with me.”
