Chapter 3

A flash of light appeared somewhere in the unknown forest. A small figure of a girl could be seen curled into a ball in a center of the meadow. Her small body clutched herself as if in intense pain. The soft sounds of sobbing could be heard.

What used to be covered with beautiful flowers and lush tall green grass was drying up so fast that it could be seen with the naked eye. As the ground started to grow black with the small girl at the center. A dense swirling power could be felt pulling the living essence out of the earth itself. In the growing dark patch, her small body glowed with an inner light fluctuating all over her body.

Time seemed to drag as the lonely figure laid curled in a ball. Her small form in the vast wilderness only made her seem more isolated from the world. No one knew much she had suffered or for how long when a young teenage boy descended from the sky and stood outside that dense surging power. His handsome young face that was usually void of all emotion seemed distressed.

Once he touched the ground, he could feel that power trying to suck out his life's essence. He turned to look at his assistant who stood floating in the air.

"Don't land." His cold deep voice said.

"Young Master, it is dangerous..."

"Mind yourself." He cut him off harshly. The boy closed his eyes and circulated his own powers within his body to withstand the power currents. When it was not enough, he unleashed something dark within himself and his eyes glowed a dark deep black. This allowed him to walk into the darkness following the sounds of a child crying.

His heart clenched with he saw her there curled in a tight ball. Her body glowing at different rates. Her little hands holding so tightly around her arms. He quickened his pace but made sure not to startle her. When he reached her, he gently pulled her into his embrace sitting her on his lap.

"Shh… It's okay. Don't cry. I am here."

When she didn't respond, he took his dark power and wrapped her up in it like a warm blanket. He urged it to sooth her pain. He kept repeated to her that he was there for her and rocked her slightly in his embrace as he continued to pour more of his power around hers to contain it. A few moments later his distressed assistant could feel the air become lighter. The dark swirling mass soon dissipated revealing his master's figure hugging a little girl. He was stunned to see his master show so much affection.

The girl seemed to be asleep. In her dreams she smelled a familiar fragrance that calmed her soul. She held her knees close to her body. Everything around her was dark. She looked so little and frail.

She could feel a presence inside her mind. "Go away…" she sniffled.

"Why?" The voice seemed disappointed.

"Don't want to hurt."

"You can't hurt me."

"Lair."

The voice chuckled. "You need to learn."

There seemed to be a glowing outline of a figure standing before her. It was holding something in his hand. When she rose her head to look at it, she noticed it was a wilted flower.

"Stay away."

The figure knelt and brought the flower close for her to see.

"Don't you want to see it bloom? It's pretty."

"But, its dead."

"You can make it bloom. You just need to learn."

"How?"

"Don't you like flowers? Don't you want to see how pretty it will look?"

She hesitated a little before she nodded.

"Hold it." The voice said. The girl reached for the flower. "Now think how pretty it would be if it was blooming."

She stared at the flower for a while imagining that the wilted black stick she was holding was turning into a blooming flower. Her small hand started to glow. She felt a soothing warmth wherever her body glowed. Wanting the flower to bloom she subconsciously urged that warmth to travel into the flower just like she did when she saw that pretty boy hurt.

The flower started to gain its color and vitality. Her glowing didn't dissipate until the flower was fully bloomed in her small hand. "Look!" Her small face was full of excitement and joy.

"You just needed to learn." The voice faded.

"Wait." She called out but the darkness overwhelmed her consuming her tired mind.

The boy holding the small girl opened his eyes and smiled tenderly down at her sleeping face. His assistant was astonished. What used to be dark and dead had now come back to life. The flowers and tall grass seemed to glow with life and sway towards the small girl. Her small body's glow started to fade. When the assistant looked at his master again, he was greeted with cold eyes.

"Seen enough?" His body froze with fear, "Speak of this to no one."

"Yes, young master." A cold sweat traveled down his spine.
