1 Kani: Volume 1

February 1807 

Deep in the swamps of Louisiana, a frightened, pregnant slave named Wilhelmina and her husband, Lionel, made one last attempt to save the life of their child from the evil master. They sought out the most powerful witch doctor in the area. They asked her to cast a spell to protect her and make her strong. The witch doctor agreed, but only on one condition: they must give the child to her as payment. They agreed, knowing it would be the only way to guarantee the life of their baby girl.

WD: The skin of a cobra, so that she may be swift and shed away her wounds. The claw of a panther, so that she may be fierce, yet cunning. The bark of a willow, so that she is both flexible and unwavering. And the blood of a whale, so that she may outlive us all!

Wilhelmina drank the elixir every day until her water finally broke, and unto the world Kani, the Timeless Assassin, was born!

 For 20 years, she was raised by the witch doctor to be an elite, fighting machine. She is skilled with almost every weapon and fighting style known to man; however, she is unmatched when using the Bo staff. 

WD: My dear Kani, the day has finally come. It is your 21st birthday which means I have to make good on a promise. Twenty-one years ago, a deal was made to ensure your safety. Your parents came to me, desperate and afraid. They asked me to make you strong and give you a chance to live. In return, I asked to raise you, free from the cruelty of racism and slavery but not ignorant of their ugliness, so that you could test the limits of your true potential.

Kani: So that's why you've kept me here, and why we trained so hard? 

WD: Yes, my dear. It was for this day, and every day for the rest of your life. You have been given great powers, and your impact will be felt in this world forever. But, before that, it is time for you to go free your family! 

Kani: Where are they? I've waited for this moment since I was a child. 

WD: They are slaves on the Crast Plantation, 26 miles northwest of here. Wilhemina and Lionel are their names. 

Kani: I….I don't know what to say. Thank you so much. Thank you for everything.

WD: It's ok, now is not a time for words. I have one last gift for you before you go. I know that the Bo staff is your weapon of choice, so I have a gift.

*presents twin katanas* 

WD: A mystical staff name Haraka, crafted in the motherland ages ago, passed down through generations. Legend says it was crafted for a powerful warrior even before they were born. Who knew that I would train her?

*Kani hugs her and takes off flying* 

Present Day

*Nightmare fight scene*

*Kani hovers over a tower and overlooks the city* 

Kani to herself: You would think that after two centuries memories would start to fade. That I would no longer remember it all…But I do. I remember every battle. Every life I took, every time I was too late.... Every time that I should've died. I wish I could say it's gotten easier, but it ha- 

Sharice: Long night?  

Kani: Nah, just took a lil time so I came to enjoy the view. 

Sharice: Well, come to bed. You need your rest for your big day tomorrow. 

Kani: Ok, I'll be right there. 

Kani to herself: No rest needed, I've waited on this day too long! Tomorrow is the day Galaxy Enterprises unveils our new Genie apartment complex.

The next day…

Kani speaking to crowd: It is with the greatest pleasure and reverence that I stand here today. For the past six months, Galaxy Enterprises has been full steam ahead on the development and building of the largest shelter and life rehabilitation center for the victims of rape and domestic violence. We want to create a place where women can understand that it gets better! 

 Voice from earpiece: Ma'am, I've just picked up a distress call on the police scanner. I believe they could use your help.

Kani to herself: Damn! Now out of all times. This can't be a coincidence. Well, I better wrap this up then.  

Kani to crowd: I could stand here and give a long speech, however, today is not about me. Today belongs to the new residents of Genie. Here you can rest your head and rebuild your life. Thank you all for coming! 

*Kani retreats through the house. Changes into costume. Flies away*

Kani: Alright, C.A.I.R.O. what's going on? 

C.A.I.R.O (Complex Artificially Intelligent Robotics Operator) was the best friend Kani had in the world. Centuries of betrayal and death of close friends had led her to become distrustful and isolated. She developed C.A.I.R.O to be her ever-watching eye so that she could protect her city, and also have a friend that would live as long as her...forever.

C.A.I.R.O: It appears that the Grand Dragons have launched a full-scale attack on a top-secret military lab. While it's defenses are high, they do not stand a chance. 

Kani: A military lab? What could they want from there? Scan and find out what his lab was working on. They must be up to something big. 

C.A.I.R.O: Already ahead of you ma'am. The lab was working on a new prototype defense weapon. If they are able to get their hands on-

Kani: They won't! I'm almost there and I'll stop them. 

*Superhero landing*

Kani: Alright, run a thermal scan on the building, and tell me what I'm walking into. 

C.A.I.R.O: Approximately 20 hostiles and your favorite set of twins…

Kani: Not those two again?! Great, just what I needed. 

*Charges into battle*

 *Blackout blade flies through window, sticks into wall. All villains stop and turn in shock* 

Grand Dragon: Shit! That can only mean one thing:she's here!

Kani: I mean were you expecting someone else?

Grand dragon: You're exactly who we hoped would come, now we can kill your black ass!

Kani: You ain't killing nothing but time, caveman. 

*gets in fighting stance*

Kani is one of the greatest martial artists the world has ever seen; she is considered a black belt in every form of martial arts. She has even created and mastered her own unique style known as Jeran-Calte. Her combination of superhuman strength and speed makes her an unmatched fighter. 

*fight scenes* 

Kani: Alright, I'm in the main corridor. Which way to the room? 

C.A.I.R.O: Continue down the corridor then enter the 2nd door on the right. Approximately 75 meters away. 

*Kani bust into room* 

C. Racker: Well, well, it appears that our guest of honor has finally arrived. I hope the welcoming party didn't hurt you too badly.  

Kani: Racker. Don't you guys ever get enough of getting beat by me?! Just give it up already. 

Racker: Hahahaha. Well, you'll get a taste of your own medicine. These prototypes fusion lasers will be the perfect tools of destruction after some rewiring

Kani: Plenty of Grand Dragons have thought they've found a way to defeat me. Ha! Even your father thought he had a chance!

Racker: You nappy-headed whore! I'll kill you!

*charges towards Kani. Misses, she counters* 

Kani: You're still not even a threat. 

Racker: I'm going to destroy you! You've been a thorn in the side of the world for far too long! 

* Finally hits her. Knocks her far across the room* 

Racker: I've had some upgrades since our last battle!

Kani to herself as she holds ribs: Alright that hurt more than I expected. Time to stop playing! 

Racker as he walks over to Kani: Hahaha look who's laughing now? Finally, I've shut that annoying mouth of yours. 

* Picks Kani up and throws her across the room.* 

Racker: Now I'm going to show you the real meaning of pain. 

*Rips off weapon and smashing into ground, but Kani dodges.* 

Kani: Alright, I think you've had more than enough fun in your cute little upgrades. 

*Pulls out Bo Staff* 

*Fight ensues, however armor suit holds up well* 

C.A.I.R.O: It appears to have a power source set up like a human spine. If you interrupt the power line, then the suit will be rendered useless. 

Kani: Ok, perfect. Now I just have to find a way to get behind him, and then I'll get a blackout blade right to the armor's weak spot. 

Kani: That's the best you got?! I guess weakness runs in the family! 

Racker: I told you to shut your mouth!! 

* Charges Kani, swings misses and Kani counter strike * 

Kani: Hehe, all that armor, and you still didn't stand a chance. I'll let the police take care of you from here. 

Racker: Did you really think it would be that easy? You've been so preoccupied with me, that my team was able to complete the actual mission without any resistance. 

Kani with haraka at his throat: Explain yourself, what mission? 

Racker: You didn't really think we'd go through all this trouble for a fusion laser did you? This was just going to be icing on the cake. By the time you figure out why we really came, it'll be too late!

Kani: You always underestimate me. Oh and don't ever call my hair nappy again, you unloved bastard. 

*Kani knocks him out as police start to storm the room. She flies away.* 

Kani to C.A.I.R.O: Did you catch that? What else was this lab being used for? I'm in pursuit, but they've got a good head start.

C.A.I.R.O: They've been experimenting with a highly lethal neurotoxin. It's so potent that a half vial could be used to kill everyone in the university stadium!

Kani: Dammit! When will they give up these constant attempts at mass murder? 

C.A.I.R.O: Not to be the bearer of bad news, but a thermal scan of the city showed something big moving through the sewers. It's headed right for-

Kani: Genie! They just couldn't stand to see women rebuilding without them. 

C.A.I.R.O: You only have 48 miles left to stop it or the virus will kill the entire complex.  At the current speed that's less than 30 minutes and you're already miles behind. 

Kani: Shit. Time to go

C.A.I.R.O: Ma'am, that wasn't all. There's also a heavy convoy headed towards the city. I can't imagine they have any good plans.

Kani: Just keeps getting better. OK, I'll take them out while you track the canister. 

*Blackout Blade lands in tree and explodes to create roadblock. Convoy stops and Kani lands on top of tree*

Kani: You know, it's nice seeing you run from me. You chased my people for long enough. It's our turn now. *Smirks and gets into fighting stance* 

Voice from inside truck: When will you women learn your place?! Always meddling in the affairs of the superior species! *Canvas rips off the back of the truck to reveal Absturz and Strich.*

Absturz and Strich, a pair brothers making a living as Grand Dragon's heavy hitters and frequent recipients of Kani's might. Born in Germany and given their powers after a series of testing, they are the epitome of what the Grand Dragons stand for. Absturz, with his arms made of steel, has the power to shake entire towns with just one punch. And his brother, Strich, is fast enough to run coast to coast in merely a matter of minutes. Together, they're a blonde hair, blue-eyed, wave of destruction. 

Kani now frowning: Well if it isn't the scum of the earth themselves, Absturz and Strich. Now before I kick your teeth in, I'll give you a chance to retract that superior species comment?

Absturz: You think you can speak to me like that? I'll teach you why white men are at the top of the food chain. 

Strich: By the time we get through with you, it'll take them years to identify your worthless carcass. 

Kani: Why is it that you always think you stand a chance? What's different from all the other times I've sent you packing? Did you get some upgrades like your little friend? 

*Kani leaps into battle*
