10 The Power - Part 3

'Oh, a child? Well, I have nothing to be afraid of now. Not that I was afraid before, of course.'

She put her arms out in the doorway and then appeared to Kalui.

"Good afternoon! My brother and I were passing by and came to meet the new residents of the area. What is your name, child?"

"Kalui."

"Where are your parents?

"My..."

"Yes?"

"My father went to the village… He should be back soon."

"Got it. Whiger can come! He's just a kid."

Whiger appeared jumping out the window that was next to Kalui, falling with a somersault.

"Hello, Kalui, right? I am Whiger. How old are you?"

Kalui was startled by his sudden jump.

'Roldi said I must have seven. But... I don't want to have seven, now I have eight.'

"Eight."

"Oh, we are the same age! Nice, nice. The stressed one over there is ten. Do not show respect because she is older. She thinks she is grown up enough without it."

"So Kalui, what is your element? I control the stone, and my father told me that in two years he would enroll me in the Elemental super school in the capital of Elfen! Incredible, isn't it?" - Kahyu said.

"I... I don't know my element."

Kahyu, amazed, asked him:

"What do you mean you don't know your element? I knew my element before I could even walk. How is that possible?"

"Hey, Kalui, don't mind her. This girl may be considered a prodigy, but she is so boring that she thinks everyone is like that too. I also suffer from this..." - Said Whiger, gloomily.

Kalui did not feel offended or uncomfortable. For him, it was a chance to find out about himself.

"So how do I know my element? I've tried to sense things, but it doesn't work."

"Look, kid, there's no way I can explain to you something that is so natural. I could not explain to you how to move your arm or things like that.

Seemingly unperturbed, Kalui replied:

"Got it. No problem. However, hey, what is it like in the village? What were you guys doing?"

"The village is normal... A village, you know? Some small houses, some big houses, everybody knows each other, and so on. And about what we were doing, my sister and I were hunting, but she refuses to accept my help, so she hasn't found anything since this morning until now."

"I would have found it if I were alone, but with one more person the animals run away before we see them!"

Kalui began to laugh to himself. The brothers looked at each other's faces without understanding what was happening.

"What are you laughing at, Kalui?" - Kahyu asked

Scratching his eyes after laughing so hard, he answers her:

"Just happy to meet you guys! You are funny hahaha!"

Whiger put his hand on Kalui's shoulder and asked:

"Hey Kalui, are we going to play something? We will not find anything else to hunt anyway..."

"I don't know many games. Whatever you want, I will go! It just cannot be something that I have to walk a lot. Roldi forbade me, since my leg is injured after kicking him."

"Wait, you kicked your father? What do you mean?" - Kahyu asked.

"It was part of the training!"

"Then that's right! We will choose. Are you going to play too, sister?"

"But of cour-... Since you insist...

「Year 950, day 220, Elfen territory, Frontier Village Center with Mercy, 6 pm.」

In the commercial center of the village, a little more than twenty street stores could be found in this small block; many vegetables and various accessories, from simple weapons to construction tools. This was a prosperous and large village; compared to the last one Roldi had been to with Enion and Kalui. The houses here, like in the last village, were of smooth stone and round windows, but here they were tall, up to four stories high. Many of these buildings were actually not a single house, but several, each on a different floor.

"Great Sir! What are you looking for?" - Many shopkeepers asked.

Roldi attracted a lot of attention. There was not a person who did not look at him as he walked down the brownstone streets.

"Hello, great sir! Would you like some tools?"

"Yes. How much can you sell me these for?" - Roldi asked, pointing to some tools.

The merchant extended his hands forward and said:

"Just two silver coins and you get some seeds as a gift."

"I didn't intend to plant, but since you are encouraging me.... Hahaha! I'll take it."

'Planting is not a bad idea...'

Roldi takes two silver coins from a cloth bag and hands it to the merchant. Then the merchant wrapped his tools and handed them to Roldi.

"Here you go."

"Thank you."

"Ah, congratulations on the beautiful swords! Did you buy them at one of the sales booths?"

"No sir. I have had it for many years. Thank you very much!"

A few hours later, Roldi had already gone into some tents and bought everything he wanted. He bought a bed, construction and repair tools, a heavy blind sword, a heavy round wooden shield, and a small, simple wagon without any finish, so that he himself could carry the bed along with the things he had bought, as well as serving in the future to carry the animals he would hunt.

'I want to see the kid's face when he sees all this hehehe.'

Arriving close to home, Roldi hears a lot of childish laughter. He found the extra voices strange, but since they were children's laughter, he figured it was okay. He left his wagon with all the things near the entrance of the house.

A few meters from the door, he saw a slipper slowly floating out of the house, passing through the door and falling sharply after a few seconds. Roldi was amazed, wondering why Kalui began to dominate the air so quickly; but as he set foot in the entrance, he was met with a scene beyond his imagination. The strong moonlight illuminating Kalui and the children, as they laugh and jump from wall to wall, ceiling to floor, floor to wall, slowly, weightlessly, with the strands of their hair floating aimlessly, as if in water, without any wind current.

"Hey Kalui, is that your father? He looks like he's in shock..."
