9 chapter 8.5: the Devouring Continent

(3rd pov)

far in the distant southeast, through the vast ocean there is an continent filled with treasure,legendary plants, and miracles that any creature would want. but not many would go there for it held a curse that many fear.

if you step on this continent their chance of becoming an immortal would become void as if the very earth itself would swallow all their qi energy and even their qi core making powerless for the rest of their life. that's why even the divine beast, the demon beast and the immortal's wouldn't dare come to this cursed continent as losing their qi would just be a death sentence to them. but it doesn't stop them from gaining it's treasure as they have other ways to get the treasure in the continent they just need to bribing bandit's or lesser beings to do it for them.

Many bandit's and many desperate people gather in this land and made a prosperous kingdom. a kingdom of outlaws where no immortal or any other beings that could smite them with qi as the very land itself protects them from it and that the only way to fight is through steel swords and fighting skills.

the only reason why they haven't conquered all the land is because of all the beast that seem to be able to use qi in this cursed land, but in a lesser extent from the other continent. some avoid them for the dangers they bring but not the outlaws as they discover that the qi crystals that this monster have in their core are some of the most purest of all continent. on which many cultivates would kill each other for just a small fragment of the pure qi crystal.

nobody knew why this is happening but through some kind of twisted luck thay discover the source of the curse. an egg nested on the most mystical tree bearing a fruity that could recover their qi and granted them access to their qi even if they are in the cursed land. the one that discovered it became the emperor of this kingdom as he got lucky as a fruit drop in front of him ignoring the black egg as he took only the fruit in fear that the mother of the egg will come back, not knowing the dangers of the black egg and was able to avoid getting near it.

he grew in strength and power that he became greedy and came back again to the tree with the egg on it confident on taking any beasts that comes in his way. as he plans to make more cultivators to invade the other kingdoms while having safety in the cursed continent. it did not go as planned as the moment the bandit's get near the trunk of the tree, they drop dead on the ground as if their soul was suck out. the egg shines purple the moment that they die as it did not go unnoticed by the emperor. so the emperor tried to get near the tree but sence a force draining his qi and saw that shines once more confirming that it was the cause of his underlings death. he tried to destroy the egg without getting near or destroying the tree along with it.

many methods where made but nothing happens no matter what he does it didn't even leave a scratch on the egg it seems nothing can destroy it. he spent a months trying destroy it that he suddenly realized that it's mother haven't came back at all. almost as if it was abandoned or probably dead and the one that killed it's parents is itself. which have struck fear in the emperor and decided that he should leave it alone and guard it. as the moment it hatch it's probably at it's weakest state without the egg shell to protect it.

how wrong he was as the area of the eggs soul/qi drain ability grow larger each and every month to the point that thay couldn't guard the egg properly no more and just have hope that it's not something that could spell their doom.

oh how wrong they where, 1 year later at the middle of the night a large roar was heard and complete darkness came, everyone was awake and the tower walls have light the fire in the look out for any monster coming to attack the city but found nothing. so they look at the sky and saw an eclipse a bad omen when one guard was just about look away he saw a beast dark as night, big as a demon bear and the presence of a royalty. he couldn't do anything as the beast have swung at him killing him instantly.

the beast have entered the city and the beast was hungry.

"finally i can have something to eat."
