14 The Fall of Lux (Part 5)

Back at the mansion

Luke Pov

This Gabriel guy has some spunk to him. He's survived all of my spells and attacks thus far. With minimum injuries to boot. Am I growing senile? I don't think so.

"Hahahaha!!! Luke Lux! You are a worthy opponent. As thanks for giving me a lifetime of a battle, I shall show you why we angels are called the servants of God!"

"What're you gonna do? Pray? Pun intended, no offense" I said.

Shit. I really jinxed it. He really did start praying or should I call it chanting in a different language. It should be the rumored language of the celestials, Tongue of God.

Everyone knows that if you let the evil mastermind complete his chant, things are going to get messy. So did the next best thing : I shoved a recording device in his mouth. The device can receive, record and also produce sound. And.. I was right. It did interrupt his chanting, bringing the spell to a halt. Or so I thought.

Instead, it made his spell go haywire. It created multiple portals around the area to some place I can't even fathom. I tried to evade all of the portals, but lady luck just hates my guts.

"You moron! Now we're all screwed! It's going to send us to another dimension! " he exasperated before being engulfed by a portal.

As I was speeding to the mansion, trying to activate the anti-space arrays, a huge portal engulfed the mansion and I. Haih.. It seems like culling all those Devils in the woods really sucked my karma dry.

Just before it consumed me completely, I constructed a memory array which would only activate for the Lux household if found.

"Sorry Mira. Looks like I won't be able to see them grow up with you."

(Mal Pov)

I depleted all of my mana tp conjour all the barriers I know of jus in the nick of time. Besides the area of effect, everything was disintegrated. Scorching hot molten was left in the place where the beam of mana hit. The path behind us became a ravine with the exception of our barrier which was somehow floating in the air.

"Dania, use the bracelet. Contact the royals. It doesn't seem like something we can handle on our own." I said, calmly assessing the situation.

'Nope, we're totally fucked! I don't even have enough mana to cast another wormhole. ' I said inwardly.

"Synthea, Lisa, Freya get ready to bolt towards the end of the ravine. Ready all your barriers. I'm out of mana, so we have to play it safe. This barrier is going to disappear soon so ready your butt's, it's gonna hurt."

"Dania, have you alerted them yet? "

"It seems that the enemy has casted an array that prevents any communication young master."

'it seems that I have to use that'

"Dania, fire the biggest fire ball you can to the sky. That'll destract the monster in front of us long enough while we escape."

"Firaga!"

Dania shot the shockingly huge fireball and the girls got to their job before the barriers that I constructed before was exhausted, making us fall flat on our bums from at least five feet high. For the first time in my life, I was grateful for having a muscle bottom.

The villagers instead were grimacing and groaning in pain. I even thought I heard a crack just now. Someone must've broken their fall the wrong way.

As soon as we recovered, we all desperately bolted to the end of the ravine as if our lives were on the line which was true for once. I sensed another beam charging from the guy in the lake.

"Hurry! He's gonna beam at us! Literally" oh, how I wanted to say that.

As we retreated to the end, I commanded the girls to activate their barrier spells. Six perfect hemispheres made to counter each element formed around us. That should protect us from another beam.

I thought that the thing would stay where he was since from the beginning he didn't move an inch from the initial spot, but boy was I wrong. He blinked right in front of us.

"Don't move guys! We might provoke him." I said trying to figure out a way to escape.

'Mom's busy dealing with the explosive guy, dad's at the mansion for who knows what and communication with the outside world is cut off. Fuck! What do we do?' I contemplated.

Amidst all of my thinking, the figure in front of us raised his finger this time. Although this time it was aimed at me specifically.

"Run.. I... Can't.. Hold.. On... Any.. Longer.." he said.

I buried him to the ground with a grappling technique that mom taught us. Not waiting for him to react, we all bolted away to safety. Huffing and gasping for air, I turned to the sky. For the first time in my life, I was happy to see the Royal crest. Help has arrived.

Ten soldiers of the Royal army descended at the scene. They are the elite of the elite. Masters of magic and swordplay alike.

They gathered at the area that mom was at. I guess mom was more of a priority. We sat down and focused on recovering.

'I should be able to teleport once more, but where?'

After much thought, I set it to the mansion, our home. It shouldn't endanger the villagers right? I don't think mom would mind but maybe dad would. I'll just explain it to him later.

One of the royal soldiers came to our location. Eyeing us with suspicion clear in his face. He must think we're the perpetrators.

"Greetings. May I ask all of you to introduce yourselves and what are you doing here?" he asked.

"Greetings. We are Malcom, Synthea, Lisa and Freya Lux from the Lux household. We're victims of this stupid battle. We were having our outing when suddenly undead started attacking us."

"Lux?... Do you know what happened to the Lux household?" he asked.

My knees felt weak, "Is... Is dad okay?"

He shook his head saying "When we arrived at your address, only potholes remained. No sign of Lord Lux and the mansion. My condolences. " leaving after saying his piece.

What the hell is going on.
