11 The Fall of Lux (Part 2)

-moments before the attack-

Back at the mansion

(Luke Pov)

Shit. They're coming.

The team taht was dispatched to the destroyed villages were supposed to a report back immediately when they arrived on site. But so far not a single peep from them.

I can only think of two outcomes of their current situation : either they haven't arrived yet due to some kind of disturbance or they did arrive and were killed. With how dire things are right now I'm leaning more to the second guess.

What makes me feel unease is that the team that i dispatched to those villages weren't some backwater soldiers. In fact, I trained them myself. At the very least, they should be able to kill a whole gang of bandits if the need arose.

Just what did they find there.

Suddenly, a trumpet was blown. Oh my god! Another headache! What is wrong with this world can't it give me a few years of peace?

Winged angles started to descend from the west of the mansion.

"Sir, approximately five thousand angels have been sighted sir!"

"I'll deal with them. Sound the alarm! Contact the other households! We've got a war on our hands. Mira, you go protect the kids." I said as I teleported out of the mansion at the same time activating the defensive arrays and traps that I've woven over the past years. Mira also immediately teleported to the nearby town that the kids went to.

I wasn't really afraid of the angels attacking our mansion but I just wanted to make sure that my family is safe. Every one of the original families have power crystals embedded in their houses. It acts like a defensive mechanism that prevents any sort of damage done to the mansion and the people who carry the blood of the originals.

Why not wait for them in my house? I like my lawn as it is thank you very much.

"What do you want oversized chickens!?" I said to the angel in the front. He seems to be the leader of this bunch. I'll just beat some sense into him and go home. It's a good thing Mira isn't here. I can finally use that new spell I devised.

"The name's Gabriel you twat! Surrender and be killed!"

"Well I'm sorry but I didn't know winged asses had names. So? Any last words?" I said while inwardly hoping that he would give some cheezy line.

"Heh quite arrogant aren't you? You and what army?" said the winged bastard.

"Me" I said while snapping my fingers, activating the new spell that I've been researching the ultimate tier spell : Divine Judgement.

Contrary to it's name, it's actually a combination of dark magic and earth magic with a tint of fire magic. A huge greats word the size of a mountain emerged from the sky crashing and slicing the angel Gabriel and those in his surrounding area.

"Your reputation precedes you Luke Lux, the death God. Although it might be enough to cull my subordinates, you'll need to do better than that to kill me."

He came out unscathed eh? Maybe named angels are in a league of their own? This.. Is going to be fun... Hehehhee.

"If it's going to be like this, you might as well help me test out all of my new spells!"

This is going to be really fun. The last time I got to go all out was against Mira. But I can't beat my own wife, I'm a gentleman.

With another snap, I activated the next spell I constructed my best world magic : Definite Void. A magic circle appeared above the whole area. A black ball of pure darkness emerged in it's place. Everything not designated as an enemy was engulfed and erased from existence. Supposedly.

Seeing that Gabriel was not affected at all by the spell, I initiated plan B : lunge the heck out of him.

"Marvelous! Simply marvelous Luke Lux! Show me more of your strength. Come at me with your best spell!"

This guy... He's the same as me and Mira.

"I acknowledge you Gabriel! Don't die on me now! Clench your teeth!" I said as I reinforced my right arm with thousands of magic circles.

I right hooked his chin. The force was so strong and fast that the sound barrier broke. The impact forced him to cough blood. Internal organs were ruptured.

" Come on Gabriel! Fight me!" I provoked.

"Hahahahaha you really are interesting Luke Lux! I shall grant you your wish!"

He dashed towards me with a spear of light before clashing with my magic barrier. He really knows his stuff eh. Interesting. He didn't use any incantation or magic circles. Maybe only humans use them. Hmm I need to do more research.

He's relentless. With no signs of ring pushed back, I decided to go for another approach. I materialised my sword from my space ring. A sleek black coloured greatswrod identical to the ultimate tier spell used before appeared.

Normal citizens always think that magic equals strength but I think that strength is diverse and comes in many forms. That's why usually only the original nobles even bother to practise swordsman ship.

I disabled the barrier and slashed my way through to him. Alas, he managed to dodge at the nick of time and stabbed me with his light spear in the shoulder. It seems that my skills have gone rusty. I may need to get a little serious.

"Slice through, Bahamut"
