10 The Fall of Lux (Part 1)

-The day before the attack-

After the dramatic episode last time, Freya and I have reconciled. We've started hanging out more, not that we didn't do that before. Just this time, it feels more fulfilling. Maybe this is what it feels like to fight with your siblings and make up in the end.

Playing games together, talking about more random things and - wait, this feels more like what couples do! Argh curse you problematic me! Couldn't you have a tleast learnt how to sociolise with others?

Her new appearance didn't help at all with my current predicament. The usual baggy shirt and pants were now replaced by a nice fitted dress. Since today is our free day, we decided to go out and visit the nearby town, hence the clothes. It's my first time going out without mom and dad so I'm quite excited.

Before I could even decide on what to do, Synthea pinched my cheek.

"Hey Mal are you even listening?"

"Owowowow... Ywesh I'm lishening"

"We need to be back by six o'clock got it?"

"Yesh... Shyinthea" I said after she finally let go of my cheek. Women are scary. At one point they're so nice it feels like they're your mom, but then they do a one eighty and they're strict as hell. Oh wait, that is just like my mom.

As we walked to the town closest to our mansion, I realised that the Dark Woods surrounding us is really thick. Not to mention the minuscule amount of light that penetrates the trees from above, it's said that if one wants to cross the woods he needs a guide less he gets lost. There must be some kind of spell that messes up with your sense of direction here. But animals roam free here. Hmm.. Maybe it only affects humanoid beings?

"I wanna play Mage War at the town..." Freya declared.

Mage War is just a game I devised for beginners of instant magic. Basically it's just tag but using water magic. If you get wet, you lose. Since we can just use air magic to dry ourselves, we usually play a lot especially on the weekends where there's no lessons with mom and dad.

"Papa said no magic in the towns. The townfolk don't like us using magic" Lisa said.

"Uuuu I wanted to play Mage War in town" Freya replied, sadly.

"Now, now young masters. We're here to have fun. Just make sure to not get into trouble, okay? We can still play tag" Dania said.

Yeah, I know party pooper right? It can't be helped. Even though we are young magicians capable of fending for ourselves in a magic fight, we're still kids. At least they are, I'm still barely a toddler. The reason why mom and dad even let us go in the first place wa because Dania offered to 'come' with us or should I say chaperone us.

It was a really fun day. We ate at the local pastry shop. Fortunately, the food here is the same as in earth just in a bigger portion. I bought a plain donut since I don't really like sweet food. It was the size of a bowl. Freya and Lisa got cuttle fish sized croissants while Dania and Synthea got slices of cake that were so huge that the table we were going to eat at didn't fit the five of us so we had to sit at seperate tables.

Not to mention our builds were not the normal kind for kids. Each of the girls were already more than 5'1 tall with muscles that could make any man cry. I on the other hand, am currently 4'4 tall even though I'm still three years old. Due to my age, dad didn't let me spar and just had me do repetitive exercises. Punching, kicking, squatting and the sort. Meanwhile the girls got to spar with each other everyday.

The moves that dad showed us were really unique. It involved a lot of attacking the lower part of the body while occasionally striking the vitals. Is the Lux family made of warriors or what?

As time went by, I realised that something was amiss. There seemed to be less people outside now.

"Dania, what's tha-" I was trying to say before I was interrupted by the sound of explosions.

"Get down!" Dania shouted before hiding us beneath the tables.

The explosions continued for only a minute but in our minds it felt lie a century.

What is going on here?
