8 Learning (Part 2)

(Mira Pov)

My baby Mal truly is a genius. Its only been a few months since I taught him and Freya language and they are already proficient. It took Mal more or less two months to get to that level. Freya is even more of a monster. She mastered it in only a month. I really must spoil her more.

"Ah..no, my little Mal. No slacking off." I said as I pinched his still chubby cheeks. Ah. I want to spoil him too but I have to be strict while teaching him or he won't learn.

Hmm. Synthea and Lisa have really improved as well. All the middle and low tiered magic spells are like breathing to them now. They can even envoke them without materialising the magic circles first. Truly remarkable.

Most mages can't even conjour magic circles at their age let alone cast spells without so much as a thought. But I can't say that they haven't worked hard. Every free time they have, they use it to practise and revise their magic with each other.

My little Mal especially works hard. He knows that he will never be as good as Freya but he still does the best that he can to lessen the gap. I'm so proud of him! Ah, no I must not spoil him.

But I guess these peaceful moments will have to end one day. News of our long lasting enemies entering the kingdom has reached our intelligence unit.

I think the time to reveal our clan's most close guarded secrets haas dawned upon us. Just the thought that my little babies might be harmed because of these damned enemies makes my heart weak.

The livelihood that I wanted to gift my children might be nigh impossible for me. I've assigned Dania to be their guardians in case something happens to me or Luke but I hope it doesn't reach that point. They need their parents by their side to watch them grow up.

The villages in our territory have suddenly been destroyed, reports of merchants found dead, adventurers going missing. No doubt it's them.

The angels.

(Enemy Pov)

Being a general is quite enticing to normal people, but to someone like me it's just shackles that restraint me. I'm more of a champion rather than a leader. I wreck havoc on the battlefield not give orders to some chumps.

Alas, the world is not a fairytale where you can get everything you want just by wishing for it. However, the world has everything that you want. You just need to work for it.

"Sariel, are preperations complete?" I asked the lady at the side of my desk.

"Everything is done Sir Gabriel. We just need to do the finishing touches."

"Get it done before the next full moon. We strike at the twelfth hour."

"As you command Sir."

I exited the office to do my daily rounds for the army. Five thousand fully suited angels. Helms of mithril, body armours of obsidian and pikes of light. Some were sparring with their free time, some were resting on their beds, some chatting nonetheless.

Even though they were slacking off, the atmosphere was filled with a battle crazed tense. There was bloodlust filled in their eyes. Truly warriors.

"Fall out boys! We're gonna commence the attack soon."

Immediately all of the angel warriors retreated to their respective rooms and tents from the village we 'liberated' recently. It was over really quickly. The men were only accustomed to hunting beasts so they were real easy prey. The woman instead were more ferocious. The more we pointed our spears of light, the more they shouted and retaliated.

The next day was pretty uneventful. Same routine throughout the day. Organising the troops, checking the equipment, doing the rounds.

As I was going to retire to my quarters, Sariel stopped me.

"Sir the preperations are complete. We can strike anytime now."

Excited, I shouted to the top of my lungs "Ya hear that boys!? It's showtime! We strike at twelve. Let's crush those Lux bastards!"
