7 Learning (Part 1)

Since that day, I've been brought to the study with Frey and the twins. Actually it's my first time seeing everything up close. Dad never allowed me to come inside. At first I thought it was because I'm just too little, but it turns out that only people who can manipulate mana and are from the Lux Clan can enter.

At first I thought he was just joking. I mean, I even studied the doors and there was nothing out of the ordinary. But I thought that maybe it was the doors themselves. It did have a peculiar design. It was engraved with a war-like scenery. Spears of something were piercing the people. A single entity was standing as though he cammanded the spears. Surely it can't be a coincidence.

"Dad what's that?"

"The purpose of our bloodline. For centuries the Lux clan has expelled and destroyed the enemies of mankind. Undead, evil masterminds, monsters, shadows. Anything, you name it. We provide."

"So we're like some superheroes? Do we have to defeat bad people and dangerous figures?"

"We did originally. However, the 54th king used our blades for his own political ideas. He sent us under with the intent to get rid of a heretic that was actually his political enemy. Ever since that, we retreated to the borders. Vowing to only come out when mankind was at it's end."

'So basically we're a bunch of mercenaries just with a noble last name' I thought to myself. I couldn't say it out loud without making them alert of me. I have to say though, it really surprised me. I didn't think that my loving and smootchy parents would be cold heart killers. No, maybe we're what's keeping them restrained.

"Enough chit chat about the past. Mira, I need you to teach both Mal and Freya how to read and write. Synthea and Lisa, I'm going to teach you both about magic and it's tiers."

"Yes darling."

"Okay Papa."

"Noted father."

We all responded at the same time. It kind of reminds me about the army back on earth.

Mom took both Frey and I to start our lesson. Tales of The Fumian Kingdom. That was the title of the book. It seems like a history book but why use a history book to teach language?

"We're using this book so that you can learn language and history at the same time. Two birds with one stone." Or so she said.

The history book was really interesting. Mom said that history is always written by those that have won the wars.

"True history on the other hand is told by those who have persevered. It's really a matter of perspective."

"The Fumian Kingdom is the kingdom we currently reside in. This country is also known as the country of the Devils because throughout history our nation has always won every war that we participated in. Though this is all thanks to the Lux clan being the vanguard in every attack but they won't let our clan name be written in the books because they thought that we would challenge their authority. "

Ah. Political struggle. That's the only valid reason our clan wasn't even written in any of the history books. Mom continued to explain everything to both Frey and I. This continued until we finished the book and perfected our reading and writing skills.

Who would've known that learning a new language was so freakin hard. Learning each and every letter of each and every word of the book was our task. We did this every day until we could understand the whole book. Well, I say we but actually Mom was just waiting for me to finish. Despite that Mom always said that I'm a genius.

If I'm a genius then Frey is a monster. How the hell did he finish it in only a month!? It took me two months to even grasp the basic meaning of each word let alone remember the spelling of each and every word. Not to mention his handwriting is heavenly! Mine instead is just barely readable.

I really need to learn how to study again. After Mom made sure that we could read and write everything that was in the book, we started going for lessons about basic self defence and general knowledge.

Nope scratch that, I think I'm gonna die from using my head too much.
