1 Let's Break Up

"Speak." Peter Sin's chilling voice echoed like a devil's command to the manager over the phone. The manager was in charge of winning the bid for an auction. After spending a fortune to bribe one of the staffs who was responsible for taking down company offers, he found out his rival's bidding price. He was prepared for a dinner celebration after he successfully obtains the item.

"B..Boss, we've lost...to X company..." The manager had his fingers crossed on the other end as he snuck out of the auction hall to make this call. He knew how much Peter Sin had looked forward to winning this project. Now, everything is ruined!

A loud crash could be heard from Peter's side as he smashed his fists against his keyboard until keys scattered everywhere. Out of madness, he flung his mouse into the white, flawless wall; leaving a crack on the hard surface. In front of him, his personal secretary, Shirley Han crossed her arms with a straightened back.

A sharp screech pierced through the manager's ears before the call was disconnected from Peter's side. Like nails scratched against a chalk board or metal gliding across a plate, the manager rubbed his damaged ears in agony. "Argh...It'll be another shitty day at work." He grunted displeasingly as he squeezed his eyes shut from pain.

After Peter had slammed his phone against the metallic ruler on his table, he knocked over his chair. Tapping on her phone screen a few times, Shirley smirked and showed him a video from the surveillance camera. His blood shot eyes blurred as his chest heaved up and down. Similar to pouring water in hot oil, flames ignited the monstrous side of his.

"Selina Gu! Selina Gu! How could it be you?! Get her in here! Right now!" He shouted loudly as his trembling body created shaking earthquake effects to the documents on his desk. Stacked files began falling off the sides and scattered all over the floor.

"Peter, I've told you to be careful of that woman, but you wouldn't listen. What's the point of talking to her now? Everything is already a settled score. We lost the bid." Shirley's hips swayed like a snake as she walked out of the office and called Selina to come to his office.

A few minutes later, two knocks tapped against the office door. A petite girl around four feet eleven inches tall with hair reaching waist length entered the room. Though she didn't have an S curved body, the white blouse and black skirt brought out her delicate curves. Her crescent shaped eyes matched with her cheery smile.

"Peter, you're looking for me? Did you like the gift I gave you?" She closed the door from behind and caught the mess in his office. Taken aback by the look in his eyes, she could feel danger coming her way. The peaceful mind on hers was replaced by loud trampling heart thumps.

"Gift? What a huge gift you've given me!" He spouted sarcastically at her words as he smashed documents against his couch. The last waves of lingering warmth in her eyes dissipated at the tone of his words. 'Without doubt, he must have listened to some bird's chirp to his ears.'

"What do you mean by that?" Her strong voice was neither too low nor loud. It was just right to let him know she won't be a pushover in whatever the heck he meant by those words. Searching around his office, she spotted the closed envelope she had placed on his desk this morning. The broken keys from his keyboard and dismantled mouse on the floor showed more than enough.

"I've lost the bidding. Aren't you damn happy? X company won just the way you wished it to turn out. Does cheating me out like an idiot make you feel good? Does crushing my trust to pieces feel good to you?" He gritted his teeth angrily as he waited for her to explain herself.

To his surprise, she stood steadily with her arms crossed like a statue. Staring at him as if he was playing a monologue act, she remained silent like an audience would. "Say something! Selina! I'm asking you why you did it!!! Explain yourself!"

Raising her palm like the stop traffic sign, she replied coldly. "I have nothing to explain, but I do have one question. I'm only going to ask this once, so speak carefully. Do you believe in me?" Scoffing to her own question, she didn't even need to wait to know his response. Still, she wanted to hear the obvious from his mouth.

"How could I trust you when I've lost? There's evidence to prove you guilty! I say, Selina Gu, when did you get this great in using the guilt trap card? Did you think your words would make my anger disappear? Are you stupid?" Tapping his finger to his temple, he let out an annoying huff.

"Very well. Since you've already assumed the entire situation and placed the blame on me...then what was the point in asking me for an explanation? If you think I did it, no matter how many words I will say, it won't put out your suspicions. So, forget it. I won't waste my saliva on this matter. You said I betrayed you right? Fine."

Reaching into her purse, she rummaged for the blade she had prepared to gift to his parents. "If you don't believe me, then follow the family rules." Her eyes closed as she faced his accusations without a hint of fear.

She convinced herself inwardly. 'I'm too tired to go on with this anymore. I'm tired of correcting your views of me. So, I've decided to give you one last chance. This is your last chance, Peter. This is the last time I'm giving you my heart.'

Shoving the handle section to his palm, she even bent his fingers around it for a tight grip. With the blade in his hand, he charged forward. He watched as the sharp tip of the weapon meets her soft, porcelain chest. Only when redness dyed her white blouse did his eyes widen in shock. She stood unmoved!

He quickly pulled the blade away from the broken skin where her top was rapidly tainted scarlet. His loosened grip let the blade fall against the floor, making a "clang" sound.

"Why didn't you dodge?!" Peter Sin attempted few steps forward to apply pressure on her wound. The wound hurt, but she pushed back the tears because he wasn't someone worthy to see her weakness. Blood squirted to his sleeve and shirt when he forced the blade out of her bloody stab.

Holding the bloody mess near her heart, a broken smile cracked on her face as she retreated away from the man in front of her. Trying her best to speak while suppressing mixed emotions in her body, she let out a soft laugh. It was the sound of an irreversible heartbreak mashed by his wrath and blindness.

"At the end, you still chose her words over mine. You've never believed in me, but it doesn't matter anymore." Sighing softly, she breathed in a deep breath and finished what she had to say before attempting her leave.

"You asked if I was stupid just now. My answer is yes, I am. I'm the stupid woman who loved you and prioritized you before myself. I've never regretted loving you, but Peter Sin..I'm tired of loving you. After this moment, I will stop loving you because I don't want to love someone who doesn't return the same feelings. Let's break up."

Taking a step forward towards the door, she paused. "Even if we pass by each other in the future, we'll be nothing but strangers. Don't even bother with greetings as we have no relationship anymore."

Hearing his hesitant footsteps from behind, she instinctively avoided his touch. He tried approaching her again, but failed as she turned around to face him and strode backwards in larger steps than before. "Mister Sin, goodbye."

She forced a smile while holding back the clouded mist in her eyes from falling. With her bloody fingers, she took off the engagement ring and dropped it to the floor. It was only when he heard the round metal item banging against the floor that his attention jumped back to reality.

"Selina!" He screamed, but she didn't turn back. Even after seeing the office door close, he continued holding himself back from chasing after her lonesome figure. His heart was a mess as he tumbled backwards to the ground and stared at the blood-stained ring he just picked up.

"Did I make a mistake?" He muttered to himself as he looked at the ring on his palm.
