Jewelry Box (Edited)

"Thank you for coming tonight. I hope you enjoyed your time." Jason shook hands with one of the investors who contributed to the art project. After the last guest had left, Jason took a deep breath. Checking the time, he realized it was already 11:30 P.M. It took him a little more than half an hour to thank everyone who attended the event tonight.

He walked up the stairs and took out the key card to the hotel room where Selina was resting in. When he turned the corner on the second floor, he bumped into Rosanna and Eric. Apparently, they were already dressed and ready to leave.

"Mom. Dad. I thought you guys left already after catching Justin and his father. Did you two leave something behind?" Jason smiled when he met his in-laws.

Rosanna shook her head. "Actually, we were waiting for you. Before we leave, we want to let you know that we've decided to end Peter once and for all tonight. He has some connections to Justin and Justin's father. You don't have to wake Selina up nor show up to see the bloody scenes. I know Selina drank red wine tonight and you're tired from the event. Remember to rest well."

Jason nodded in response to her words. "Thank you for letting me know. Should I tell Selina about this?"

Eric exchanged a glance with Rosanna. After pondering for a few minutes, the two of them shook their heads. Eric replied, "if she asks in the future, we will tell her the truth. If she doesn't ask about him, then don't mention his name in front of her anymore. We know how poorly he treated her when they were in a relationship in the past. Anyway, it's getting late. Get home safe with Selina."

"Alright. Get home safe too. Let me know if you need any assistance. I will always be available if you need anything. Have a good night." Jason smiled and stepped aside to let his in-laws leave first.

Rosanna chuckled and waved her hand at him. "Good night, dear."

Selina was still in deep slumber when he entered the hotel room. Her sleeping expression looked so comfortable that he didn't have the heart to wake her up. After making sure he didn't leave anything in the room, he carried Selina out.

Jason's lips twitched the second he turned the corner of the hallway. He called out to the person in front of him in the lowest volume possible. "Bryan."

Hearing someone whispering his name, Bryan turned around to see Jason carrying Selina in his arms. At the same time, Jason's eyes landed on Celinda, who was also asleep. Exchanging a nod with one another, they gave each other a small head shake as if they sympathized the other's situation.

"Brother-in-law." Bryan smiled when he called out to Jason.

"Hmm?" Jason looked confused for a split second when he heard the way Bryan had addressed him just now. He realized Bryan had been Selina's brother for nearly her entire life. Therefore, the way he addressed him wasn't considered wrong.

Jason walked up to Bryan and frowned when he noticed his sister's cheek looking flushed. Following his line of sight, Bryan reassured him that everything was fine with her. "She accidentally drank a glass of wine earlier. She'll be fine after a good rest. I'll take good care of her."

At this moment, Jason really wanted to laugh. If these two ladies weren't with them right now, he would've patted Bryan's back. "Then I leave my sister in your care. She has such low alcohol tolerance."

Bryan blinked twice after hearing Jason's casual response. "Haha. I could say the same thing back to you. Also, how could you trust me that easily? You're not afraid that I'll take advantage of Celinda?"

"You took care of Selina as an older brother for many years. I trust your personality. Plus, you two are dating. If something does happen and my sister comes crying to me about it, I'll make sure you lose your third leg." Jason jokingly snickered.

"Brother-in-law. Wait for me." Bryan followed after Jason, who had walked past him already.

Bryan separated from Jason after exiting the hotel venue. After carefully placing Celinda in the passenger seat, he adjusted the angle of her chair. Once the chair was at a comfortable angle for her to rest on, he closed the passenger door and headed to the driver's seat.

While getting into his car, a jewelry box dropped out of his pocket and landed on the door mat under the driver's seat. Anxiously, he bent down to pick it up. Once he retrieved the jewelry box, he opened it to make sure the diamond ring inside wasn't damaged.

"Phew. Got me scared for a second. It took me a month to get you in my hands. If you get scratched or damaged now, I'll have nothing to show her during our vacation." Bryan whispered as his eyes wandered to Celinda's smiling face. "When we go on vacation, I'll ask you this question."

He snapped out of his daze when a sudden buzz interrupted his thoughts.

"Hmm? Michael texted me." He mumbled, reading the notification on his lock screen.

Text message:

Michael: "We're dealing with Justin, Justin's dad and Peter tonight. Do you want to join us later?"

Bryan tapped his fingers for a minute and looked at Celinda before backspacing some words. He replied, "No. Handle Peter and Justin well. I need to take care of Celinda. Remember to beat them up for me."

Once his message was successfully delivered to Michael, Bryan began driving back home. On the ride back to his place, he noticed that the temperature in the car wasn't warm enough for her. Stopping at a red light, he took off his blazer and covered her torso.

Meanwhile, in the underground dungeon of the Clover's residence, Justin, Justin's father and Peter were kneeling on the ground with their heads pulled backwards. As soon as Rosanna took a seat and poured herself a drink, Eric nodded to the guards in front of them.

Receiving the signals, the guards released the prisoners' heads and stepped aside. The second Peter's head was released, he inhaled a deep breath and found Rosanna's face very familiar. He remembered her voice and the way she looked at him with despise in her eyes.

After the incident at the bridge, his eyes were severely injured, and surgery was necessary to recover his sight. He didn't understand why the enemies would kidnap him, yet help him recover. During the time he was locked in the cell, many thoughts crossed his mind.

The final conclusion he had in his thoughts led back to Selina. He thought she wanted to scare him and then persuade other people to release him from this dungeon. He also believed that she was still in love with him and would ask to get back together. Unfortunately, for him, this dream of his shattered a few hours.
