3 Checking the Neighborhood

Waking up to the darkness of the early mourning, Z gets out of bed still feeling that difference from eating those stones. He decides to look out his window to try and see something to give him an idea of the time but could see nothing, new moon. Though Z did come to realize something by looking outside, he could see just as well as if it was noon.

"Well at least I don't have to worry about flashlights anymore." Laughing softly at himself he makes his way to get ready to go exploring the neighborhood using some things around his house to create a makeshift holster for his knife. Z didn't want to scare people needlessly, or at least any more than what seeing a walking skeleton would do to someone.

As he goes do leave his house the light of the mourning sun rises in the east and a surprise in his front yard. The dog corpse is gone.

"Okay so either something ate that entire corpse while I was asleep or there is a zombie dog wandering around the neighborhood now. I have no idea what is worse." Talking to himself his hand now resting on the pommel of his knife as he sets out back towards the sun going to his first neighbor's house.

Arriving at the door he first out of habit rings the doorbell. Silence. "Duh no power." Smacking his hand on his forehead before shaking his head ashamed he knocks loud but not pounding.

No response. He tries again louder and gets a response of silence again. He pounds on the door and still receives silence so he tries the door. It's unlocked. Bracing himself he goes in slowly.

"Hello is anyone here" He speaks out upon entering and receives no response. So he decides to go check the garage since what happened to his car he was curious. So after going through a few rooms and finding a closet or two he finds his way to an empty garage.

Sighing slightly the confusion to why they would leave with their door unlocked and nearly everything seemingly in the house he starts searching the rest of it for signs of anything that might tell Z where the residents went. Sadly, there was nothing and as he wasn't sure if they would be returning he took nothing, not even things that could have been very useful like the knives in the kitchen.

After that he left that house and knowing the house on the other side of his was empty decided to go the neighbors with the broken fence. While he knew they had left for vacation he wasn't sure when they were suppose to return, so he decided to go and check before checking on the destroyed house. After knocking on the backdoor and receiving no response he just tries and opens it. To his surprise it is once again unlocked but when he goes to pull it open a chain catches the door. Shaking his head he goes to the next house.

This time he doesn't even bother with knocking since the house is missing a wall he just goes in checking to see if the door here was also unlocked and, surprise, it was. This time he carefully searched the house while wondering why so many houses where unlocked as this house also seems to not have anything missing. Though as he approached the bedrooms, Z got a bad feeling warning him of something. As he enters the room he sees nothing at first but as he is moving something shines on the bed. Checking what it is shining he sees several things scattered all over the bed and his bad feeling gets worse.

These look like egg shells like the egg he was in when he first woke up. "Why are these still here the ones from when I hatched just disappeared?" Z wondered picking up the largest piece. "I hope I am wrong but maybe these pieces are here because they didn't hatch but was broken by something."

With that thought fear gripped Z for the first time since he woke as a skeleton. Not even that dog made him feel fear but for some reason the eggs of others being destroyed does. "Ok head is starting to hurt I'll think about this later lets try and figure out what broke that wall." Going back to where the wall is broke he began searching that room which turned out to be the kitchen.

Having found nothing around the rubble he begins shifting through it and it's really easy even the bigger pieces. "Well this is sad I'm stronger now that I don't have any muscles. Some of those guys from the office would flip the fuck out if they knew." Laughing silently to his though he then finds the reason for the wall. A bird cage that looks to be broken from the inside so this lead him to think that even animals might have become monsters and when it broke out it broke out.

"Ok I'm going home with that terrifying thought I need to go and collect myself. God I hope I am wrong and didn't kill their dog the other day." Walking back to his house with those thoughts and sits down and just loses himself to his thoughts.
