Beep Beep Beep

"You've gotta be kidding me!" Caden screams in a muffled tone.

Getting off his crappy old ripped up futon, Caden stretches and checks his phone.

10 messages from Mom

5 messages from Dad

Rolling his eyes he goes to his very small kitchen the consists of rundown appliances and a singular counter and cabinet. Going to the old wooden cabinet he pulls out a package of microwaveable popcorn throwing it in the microwave and leans against the counter patiently waiting for his artificial buttery goodness to meet his mouth. Then he heard a knock at his front door, with a wave of disappointment he walks over to answer the door.

"Mom...Dad... what are you doing in New York?" He says with shock and nervousness.

"We came to see you of course." Caden's mom Carol replies looking at his disgusting apartment.

Practically pushing Caden out of the way they walk into his apartment looking up and down at the mess and dirty walls, stained carpet, and possible rat droppings on the floor.

"So hows the writing going son." His fatherBruno asks while wiping his hands on his handkerchief. Carol continues to look around his apartment nodding her head with her husband's statement.

"Its actually going great." Caden Lies and starts running his hand through his hair nervously, and his parent stops and stares at him.

"Oh, that's wonderful honey! So what's your book about?" Carol says moving closer to Caden staring right into his big blue eyes. "Oh, you know stuff.." Caden lets out a nervous chuckle, and both of his parents look at each other.

"Caden, me and your mother have been talking, and we think its best if you come back to California and run the family business." His father states brushing invisible dust off his suit.

Caden's face dropped completely the last thing he wanted to do was run a company. Trying to think of ways to convince his parents to let him stay and pursue his dream as an author and eat microwavable popcorn almost every day. Then it hit him.

"Mom, Dad gives me a chance to at least pursue my dream!" He raises his voice to get his point across. Carol huffs in disagreement

"Caden we gave you a whole year what more could you want! We just want the best for you!" Carol yells pointing a finger at Caden's chest.

"Give me 2 months that's all I'm asking." Caden pleads with hope-filled in his eyes, and his parent starts whispering things to each other.

"2 months have a finished book ready to be published and we will let you stay," Bruno says sternly as he grabs his wife by the waist and starts guiding her out the door.

"You won't be disappointed," Caden says as he shuts the door.

Leaning against the door he slides down to the floor and rubs his hand through his hair angrily.

"Well, this is gonna be fun." He mumbles to himself rubbing his temples.
