CHAPTER 2: MY FAMILY

SHAYLA

I got up with my usual time if I do not go to school that is 8 to 9 o'clock in the morning.

Today, it is eight in the morning I checked in my wall clock. A few stretching in my body while still sitting on my bed then decided to jump off wear my slippers. Going straight to my bathroom.

Gargle some mouthwash then washed my face after. I went downstairs to the kitchen and found my parents eating their breakfast. They usually arrived from work around six or seven in the morning. My supersonic best mom in the world still manages her time to cook for us. Working in the hospital is not easy especially them but they manage to do it right.

"Oh, hello there, sleepyhead, at last you woke up early than usual." My best father in the world greeted me with grinned as I sat down beside him then kissed my forehead.

"Oh, dad, you know how I love sleeping if no school than waking up early if doing nothing." I said grinning at him.

My mother shook her head. "Well, we all know that you sleep late from reading books again. Am I right?" I nodded. "Where is your brother anyway?" she asked me, sipping her coffee.

I raised my shoulder together with my both hands in the air, as a gesture of I do not know. My father shook his head then my brother came in.

"Hello, parents, good morning and hi there, little sis." He said smiling widely as he approached the table.

"Good morning to you, too strange son of mine." My mother replied looking at her son.

My brother was the replica of my dad in some way while I was mix between them. "Where have you been and you never sleep in the house?" she asked raising her brows.

We never heard them angry as in super to us. Or even my parents too, we haven't seen then shouting at one another. In my own point of view, maybe they argue or fight about something. They maybe stay inside their room. We all know that the master's bedroom is soundproof. I do not know either because have not really seen them since we could or I could remember.

"I slept with my friend's house, mother." Shane smiled. "And do not worry. We do not do illegal stuff that you will not be worrying in the future." He added. "I know my limits, Mom." He went over to her and kissed her cheek then to Dad.

"Well, that is nice to know and I trust you both even though we are not always here for both of you." Reminding us as she looked us one by one.

"We know that mom, dad. We know what responsibilities you always telling us every now and then." Shane assurance he made to our parents. "I always wanted to enjoy my senior year and doing drugs is not one of them."

Dad cleared his throat. "Okay, we know you would not do that." He said to us. "Come on, you eat your breakfast." My brother nodded.

I know my family is not perfect but we know that family is more important to us. That was what my grandfather told us every time when he was alive. That we will always treasure responsibilities and family. No matter what happens the only thing you can hold on is FAMILY.

Doing such what most teenagers now a days wanted to experiment like drugs, alcohol or other stuff is not the reason to destroy ourselves. We allowed drinking if we are at the right age and we know our limits.

That is what our grandfather always stuck in our minds. We do respect him a lot. That in life, no matter what you have been through or done mistakes, you can always count your family. Never hide it from the family.

Because in this family, he would not leave you if you make mistakes. Rather guide you into the right direction. Lift you up together not leaving you alone.

After breakfast, I rushed to prepare myself. I already told them about my plan for today. My time with Macy in the shopping mall. My parents gave me some pocket money for my new clothes next week. They know school is fast approaching and I did not even ask for something new.

I refused to get it because I still have some savings from my babysitting job but still, they insist. They also knew that I am not like other girls who spend their money buying clothes. I am okay with my old-style fashion.

As long as it still can wear it. I rather spend my money to some books than clothes. Clothes may always trend now. But in the coming years they come back again. I am wise in terms of clothing. I see to it that it can be wear on anytime I want.

A car horn heard from outside the house that was the sign that Macy just arrived. I grabbed my phone and wallet. I saw Shane walking up the stairs and talking to someone on the phone. He nodded at me as I was walking down the stairs. "Where are you going?" he asked me covering his phone.

I stopped midway, "Shopping with Macy." Then nodded continued talking back to his phone.

We are close since we are only two children of our parents but not all secrets we do share. He maybe a slightly strict but still I have my own freedom.

I was wearing my high-waist knee ripped denim jeans and plain red fitted crop top. I rushed to the passenger's seat and placing my seat beat on.

"Oh, my god! You look hottie!" she said as soon as I sat down.

"Whaat!" I burst out and shook my head. Sometimes, Macy just over exaggerated well; I cannot blame her because I learned to lose myself two years ago.

Before, I was a freak when it comes clothing or dressing up. I seem like a tomboy because I always wear loose jeans, loose shirts just like boys. I changed when I realized that I should dress like a girl but not slutty.
