5 Power

'Why, why was this happening to me', thought Kanami with a frightened expression.

Around him were the unconscious body of the other members of the occult club.

There were fallen debris everywhere, and splotches of blood covered the ground. They were most obviously from the unconscious students, who were slowly losing blood.

Why, was this happening?

Kanami was staring at a grotesque monster. The monster had human hands and arms, but was moving on all fours with a fish tail fin crest. In contrast to its white body, there were three blood red worm-like heads with a large mouth containing decayed teeth and instead of eyes, there were three pairs of miniature mouths. Looking closely at the monster, one could see that its back also contained features of a human face, such as eyes and a nose. In fact, the 'human face's' lips seemed to surround the neck of the monster, making it look like the human was eating the heads.

"Raaaargh!", the creature roared, showing off its human-like teeth. Kanami could feel his underwear getting wet as he stared at the creature make its way to him.

(20 minutes before)

The occult research club had finally made it to the haunted house.

It was around a mile away from the school, located in an abandoned part of town that was scheduled to be gentrified.

The house itself was a large three story house. It had a dreary, macabre appearance with cracked windows and graffiti everywhere. Some even claimed that they could see dried blood in certain places.

The house was the location of multiple infamous suicides, as well as the place where a group of high schoolers mysteriously vanished. Thanks to this, the house gain a sort of occult intrigue due to this history, with many believing that the house was cursed by something.

The occult research club had visited this house several times in order to explore the intrigue of the house. Today, they came in order to set up the atmosphere to open the mysterious object wrapped in cloth.

"He-hey guys, I ... don't think we should go here", spoke Kanami trying to get the group to turn back. Even though he was here several times, he could never get used to the haunted feeling he was getting from the house.

"Bro we've been here 10 times already, there's nothing here, plus we have Gunha here to save us from any murderers", spoke Rikido, trying to calm Kanami. At this point, most of the group was beginning to become frustrated at Kanami. 'If he was so scared of everything, why did he choose to join the Occult Research club?', they all thought.

"Alright, now we will open the item", excalaimed Ayase, completely ignoring the banter Immediately everyone's attention fell on Ayase and the item.

Slowly, but surely she started to unwrap the cloth building up tension on what was contained in it. Finally the entire cloth was unwrapped revealing a thin, long ... finger?

"What the...!", screamed Ayase dropping the finger on the floor. I was incredibly wrinkly and disgusting, with a single long sharp nail. It was obviously mummified, indicating that it was ancient.

"What the hell is that!", exclaimed Yukana pointing to the weird finger. "Hey, Kanami pick it up".

"What, why me!?", asked Kanami.

"Cause you're the closest to that... thing".

Immediately, Kanami walked over and inspected the finger. It seemed hard, too hard for a mere finger. 'Shouldn't things this old, turn into dust or something?', questioned Kanami. Suddenly he heard a loud scream.

Immediately, Kanami turned around to find the source of the scream only to see Yukana's body inside the mouth of one of the mouths of the three-headed monster. She was trying her best to free herself, but it seemed the monster's mouth was overpowering her.

(Present)

The monster slowly stepping to Kanami. One of the heads still was currently eating Yukana, who was now unconscious . It would not be long before she was completely stopped.

The others attempted to fight the monster and free Yukana, but it was all in vain. The monster completely overpowered everyone, even Gunha was defeated. There's no way a normal human could fight against such a grotesque monster.

"Please god, please save me. I promise I'll stop watching hentai and being a degenerate, I'll pray to you everyday, please save me and my friends", Kanami was praying to every god in the world to save his life, as he was trying to slide away from the monster.'No... maybe this is karma, karma for just watching him get bullied. Maybe I deserve this', Kanami's thoughts were getting more and more delusional as his inevitable end was drawing near.

"TEXAS SMASH!", came a loud voice. Suddenly, Kanami saw a figure in front of him, punch the monster. The monster was launched back, crashing into a wall. The figure managed to grab Yukana's body from the creature's mouth, just before it got launched away.

"Come on, didn't I tell you to not open the cloth", the figure looked back, staring intently at Kanami. Green eyes, and straight black hair; Yep this was Rei Tachibana, the strongest kid in the school, no all of Tokyo.

"Rei!", screamed Kanami, hugging Rei's legs and sobbing loudly. "I really-hic- thought I was going to -hic- die. I still have a sister and a mother, I don't wanna die".

"Alright, alright don't worry, as long as I am here none of my friends are going to die. That's a promise", Rei replied giving Kanami a wide smile and thumbs up to calm him down.

The creature recovered from the punch, making it's way out of the wall. It took no damage, from that punch. One needed cursed energy to kill a cursed spirit, unfortunately both Rei and Kanami did not have those.

Looking at the recovered monster, Rei quickly whispered to Kanami, "Alright, you get out. I'll stay and take care of the monster".

"What! What about them", asked Kanami pointing to the unconscious students. Immediately, Rei assured him, "Don't worry, I'll beat the monster and save everybody, like an anime hero. You just run. Oh and give that finger to a man with white hair and a blindfold, he'll know what to do with it".

Kanami nodded. He knew he could not do anything to the monster, so the only option was to run and call someone for help. Taking a glance at the finger, Kanami swiftly ran away.

Immediately, Rei's attention turned towards the monster, getting into a proper fighting stance in order to battle it. In his past life Rei was merely a green belt in karate, however with his amplified physique he should be enough to deal with the curse. Seeing as how it was thrown back with a single punch, it must not be too strong. Maybe a grade 2 or a grade 1 at most.

However, instead of immediately attacking Rei like he thought it would do, it completely ignored him and begin to chase after Kanami who was still running away from the curse.

Rei grabbed the curse's legs as it ran past him, and spun it around destroying all the objects in the surrounding area before releasing and throwing the curse towards some stairs. He quickly blocked the exit from the curse, and again went into fighting stance.

The curse retaliated by... destroying the wall? No, the curse destroyed the wall ignoring him again. It was making its way to Kanami again.

'Why isn't it attacking me?' questioned Rei as he saw the curse walk right past him again. 'Curses are supposed to be aggressive towards human, so why is it just ignoring me?'

Although he still needed answers, now wasn't the time to fool around. He quickly made it to the unconscious classmates, he grabbed all of them. He couldn't just leave them here, there were most likely other curses in the haunted house. Praying that Kanami could hold out until he returned, Rei immediately rushed away to the safest place in the area.
