1 Chapter One

Once upon a time in a faraway land lived a young maiden named June. June was a beautiful young maiden and every men desired her. When June was ripe for marriage, rich suitors visited her but she selected a poor lowly Shepherd. The Shepherd was June's friend right from when she was born and she desired to have more with him than just friendship. The shepherd was a very handsome young man aged 26. He was poor but never lacked meat. He had no parents and was brought up by an old woman who is late. Everyone flared up against June especially her mother but she refused to change her mind insisting that she will will marry him.

The wedding was schelduled the next following day. Preparations were made and the shepherd offered his best 5 goats to be used and 5 as a payment for his wife. To everyone's surprise, he gave a payment of 1 million cowries to the bride's mother who accepted with joy but June was angry.

After the wedding, at the Shepherds home, June asked him where he got 1 million cowries from and he told her it was from his savings. He had 500 thousand and he sold his two farmland each for a 250 thousand. She was awed by his reply but then thought of food, "dummy, how are we going to feed?" He replied: "Leave that to me. I'm the man of the house, i shall hustle and make sure there is enough food in the house." June looked at him and was calmed by his reassuring smile.

For the days to follow, June never lacked food and she was glad her husband kept his word. He goes out at day and returns at noon bringing enough food and vegetables for the day. In the evening he takes the sheeps and the goats out to feed, when it is nearly dark, he returns and takes his wife out to see the stars. That was their routine for months.

Two months later, June was pregnant and she shared the goodnews to her husband. He was excited that he was going to be a father and vowed to provide more food for them in the house. He fulfilled his promises and June never went hungry.

8 months later, June was conceived of, a baby girl, she was as beautiful as her mother and as handsome as her father. She was a unique beauty, taking her looks from both her father and mother. She was born to be a princess.

June's mother visited them and took good care of Judy. She never let any stain get close to Judy and she spoilt her with love and admiration. Judy grew up rapidly as the years passed and she showed her grandmother and her parents respect. She was spoken highly of and her parents hearts swelled with pride.

4 years later, Judy now 7, was a very happy child. Her beauty never faded and she was still as same as the baby that she was when she was born. She spoke softly and you could feel like she was singing instead of talking. Her voice could calm souls and anyone passing by. She walked gracefully as a princess should and wore the best attire provided by her father.He showered her love and gifts and made sure she never looked for food or where to lie down.

Judy always helped her mother in the kitchen and began learning how to make Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. She had great enthusiasm whenever she was in the kitchen. Apart from cooking, Judy was a beautiful artist who drew and painted. No trained artist could draw and paint like her. Everyone always wondered where she came from because, she was unique. It was only her father who knew where she came from and how she acquired such talents.
